Despite the forty-four million Muslims who now live in Europe, cheek-by-jowl with the indigenous Infidels whom those Muslims regard as “the most vile of created beings,” despite the nearly 50,000 terror attacks launched by Muslims worldwide since October 7,2023, despite the endless stream of stories about Muslim mayhem and murder across the globe, very few people in the West have bothered to learn about the religion of Islam or about the 1400-year history of the Muslim conquest of many lands and many peoples. Partly it’s because they think they already know what they need to know: that Islam is a religion like any other, that it has a few bad apples but basically it is, if rightly understood, a “religion of peace” as assorted leaders — former President George W. Bush, the late Pope Francis, and so many others — continue to assure us. Partly it’s sheer laziness — who wants to go to all that trouble to read the hard-to-comprehend Qur’an or the even more difficult to parse Hadith, those stories of Muhammad’s words and acts?

Civilizational erasure, as it relates to Europe, has been in the news lately, with the renewed and scaled up predations of Islam once again commanding center stage.
Islam’s resurgence has been a full century in the making, enabled in large part by Western ignorance and enforced taboos against discussing Islam’s highly relevant 1,400-year history of mass bloodshed and conquest.
Indeed, that history is whitewashed by Western academics, whether pseudo-historians like the late Edward Said or execrable and ahistorical oikophobes like Howard Zinn and Noam Chomsky. Wikipedia, Google, and artificial intelligence also play outsized roles in the academic and historical whitewash.
The true history of Islam and what it has wrought through the centuries is not taught to Western schoolchildren. Modern Westerners have zero historical memory of Islam extending back more than a few decades, nor would they be the least bit curious if they were taught this hugely important but ignored and forgotten topic.
Armed instead with the fake morality of luxury beliefs about alleged Western racism or Islamophobia, and fetishizing whatever seems exotic, today’s decadent Westerner lacks the moral and physical courage that enabled his distant forebears to beat back the centuries-long Muslim onslaught, which finally ignited Europe’s Renaissance and Age of Enlightenment.
The conquest of Byzantium by the Muslim Turks caused Greek scholars to flee to Italy, taking with them the texts of classical writers. This led to a renewal of interest in classical antiquity — what historians call the “revival of learning” — by the inhabitants of western Christendom, which contributed to what we know of as the Renaissance.
Regionally, and over the centuries, Muslims were known to Europeans by many names.
The Muslim Moors of North Africa (Berbers and Arabs) invaded, conquered, and occupied a vast swath of Western Europe, including present-day Portugal and Spain (for nearly 800 years), along with significant territory in France….
The Muslims conquered the Iberian peninsula, but as they pushed forward into southern France, their advance was halted at Poitiers by Charles Martel in 745 A.D., thus keeping all of Western Europe except for that Iberian peninsula safe from Muslim conquest. This could, however, not prevent incessant Muslim attacks on coastal villages, especially along the coasts of Italy and France, though such attacks also reached as far as Ireland (the raid on the village of Baltimore in 1631, in which everyone was seized and taken back, as slaves, to Algiers) and, in one famous case, the Muslim corsairs reached as far as Iceland, resulting in the kidnapping and enslavement of the entire population of Grindavik in 1627 by Muslims from Algiers and Salé. The Muslims vandalized and destroyed the Christian villages, and seized their inhabitants, bringing them back to North African shores. The men were used as galley slaves, as laborers on construction sites, and as house slaves, while the women and girls became sex slaves of their Muslim masters. The most famous of those Christian slaves in North Africa was Cervantes, who was held in Algeria for five years, working as a house slave, until he could be ransomed.
How many people in the Western world today know that Muslim pirates managed to kidnap and enslave more than a million people taken to North Africa from their European coastal villages, where unless ransomed had to spend their lives as slaves of the Muslims, as revealed in Giles Milton’s study White Gold? Alas, very few.

The Hadith makes it clear that Muslims are allowed to lie to unbelievers in order to defeat them or protect themselves. There are several forms:
Taqiyya – Saying something that isn’t true as it relates to Muslim identity (i.e whether one is a Muslim or what that means). This is a Shiite term: the Sunni counterpart is Muda’rat.
Kitman – Lying by omission. An example would be when Muslim apologists quote only a fragment of verse 5:32 (that if anyone kills “it shall be as if he had killed all mankind”) while neglecting to mention that the rest of the verse (and the next) mandate murder in undefined cases of “corruption” and “mischief.”
Tawriya – Intentionally creating a false impression by saying something that is technically true, when knowing that the listener will interpret it in a different way. This practice has a broader application than taqiyya.
Muruna – ‘Blending in’ by setting aside some practices of Islam or Sharia in order to advance others.

The Holy Qur’an was an easy read for me. It was only 535 pages. When I placed my protagonist in Pakistan, I decided to read the Qur’an to gain an idea of the Islamic mindset. The Age of Terrorism began in 1993 with the attack on the WTC. (I believe that was a scouting mission.) The Qur’an is a manual of war along with religion. stay informed at your own peril.
