The normally placid Spokane Valley City Council is in an uproar these days. It seems that one of its members had the unpardonable temerity to stray away from leftism’s prescribed beliefs and perspectives, and to express views of her own. This is, as the leftist overlords of George Orwell’s dystopian Oceania would say, double-plus ungood, and there have been frenzied demands for the apology, or resignation, or at very least the public shaming of the offender. So far, at least, Council members have, surprisingly enough, stood firmly, albeit reluctantly, for the freedom of speech.
Spokane’s Spokesman-Review reported Wednesday that “Spokane Valley City Council members rejected a call to issue an apology or stronger condemnation of Councilwoman Jessica Yaeger, who declared herself a ‘proud Islamophobe’ in a Facebook post last week.” It is astonishing that public officials anywhere, and especially in far-left Washington state, would refuse to accommodate demands for the professional ruin of someone who had the temerity to take the despised label of “Islamophobe” upon herself willingly, but Yaeger did so in a way that made it difficult for Council members to throw her under the bus.
Yaeger’s original offending post seems to have been taken down, but on Monday, she posted a video in which she explained her rationale for flirting with career suicide: “I will never apologize,” she said, “for exercising my First Amendment right to speak plainly and honestly. Let me be very clear: pedophilia is wrong, rape is wrong, female genital mutilation is wrong. These are not political opinions; they are basic human truths.”
What do any of those things have to do with her taking on the label of “Islamophobe”? Everything. Islamic tradition records that when Muhammad, the prophet of Islam, was 54 years old, he consummated his marriage with a nine-year-old girl, Aisha. Islamic law allows a Muslim man to have sexual relations with up to four wives, as well as the “captives of the right hand,” that is, captive non-Muslim women (cf. Qur’an 4:3, 4:24, 23:1-6, 33:50, 70:30). One Islamic legal manual explains “Circumcision is obligatory (for every male and female.” (Umdat al-Salik e4.3).
To oppose pedophilia, rape, and female genital mutilation is thus to oppose practices that all too many Muslims believe are perfectly right and justified in their holy book and by the example of their prophet. Yaeger rightly notes that anyone who says anything remotely critical of Islam is smeared as an “Islamophobe,” and thus takes the label upon herself: if opposing those evils is to oppose practices that Islam sanctions, then she will bear the opprobrium that comes with doing so.

Islamic tradition says a lot of things about Muhammad, and by doing so makes itself a legitimate object of criticism, as would any religious canon. One may also speculate as to the veracity of the canon itself, as to whether such reports are real, or are simply made up by opportunistic political leaders interested in power and control.
There are seventh century witness documents on early Islam that cast serious doubt on the veracity of canonical Islam as opposed to the historical facts.

I read an article a few days ago, and the author said, “Truth is hate speech.” And he is right.
The mayor….sounds very much like a muzzie…will not *discriminate* against those who lust to rape children, and those who like to mutilate (and I suspect this is just another way to rape) children, even infants and babies, and the rape of young women who might feel like showing their hair.
If the “mayor” and the “deputy mayor,” and the 30 of the 32 were to throw a dinner party, would they allow in a convicted serial killer to sit and eat with them? Or would they “discriminate”?

She is spot on and I applaud her courage because it might destroy her career. The problem is the atrocious level of ignorance of so many people about islam. Everyone would say that rape, pedophilia fgm are all wrong. But a lot of ignorant, lazy people won’t know that islam says they are ok. Also I guess they won’t know that Muslims are told to kill non Muslims. I hope that islam is banned from all our countries because of all the evil filth that islam says is ok like pedophilia, rape,etc. Islam should be banned all civilised societies. It is a barbaric, evil load of shit.

Yeah, that term does mean an “extreme and irrational” fear of snakes, but there is nothing irrational about being scared of either snake venom entering one’s bloodstream, or being strangulated by a constrictor snake

But the two major ‘deal-breakers’ that should have prevented any free western country from allowing even ONE Muslim inside the gates? – a/ the apostasy law and b/ the ‘blasphemy’ law.
Any Organisation that explicitly stipulates in its official code of conduct that anyone born to members of the Organisation shall not be permitted ever to leave it, on pain of DEATH, and that anyone who joins the Organisation but subsequently suffers ‘buyers’ remorse’ and decides to leave, is also to be killed, is NOT an Organisation that should be permitted to establish itself and operate within free countries not previously afflicted with said Organisation. Ditto for the fact that the code/ ideology of said Organisation decrees that anyone anywhere who DARES to criticise or make fun of any aspect of the Organisation, such as its many evil practices (forced ‘marriage’, female genital mutilation, child ‘marriage’, wife-beating, killing of apostates, etc.) or its putative founder, must be hunted down and killed. Lots of evidence that both rules – re ‘apostasy’ and ‘blasphemy’ – are well and truly in operation, believed in and practised by many members of the Organisation; so … the sensible course of action should have been..
