Several leaders of prominent universities on Monday said they believe the anti-Israel and anti-Semitic demonstrations that broke out on campuses across the United States during the Jewish state’s war against Hamas were not organic, instead telling a panel audience they believe “organized networks,” and even foreign governments, may have driven the unrest.
Leaders of notable U.S. universities had not offered many thoughts on the connections between campus protests and outside groups before Monday’s discussion on combating anti-Semitism. During the event, though, Syracuse University chancellor Kent Syverud brought up Iran in particular.
“I really believe [the demonstrations] were encouraged from Iran,” Syverud said. “It did not have the involvement of very many—if any—of our own students.”
Vanderbilt University chancellor Daniel Diermeier agreed, saying the anti-Israel movement on his campus seemed to have been coordinated by outside forces and followed a “playbook” that “was imported” from other universities.
“There was, not a large group, maybe 30-plus students or something, but they were using the playbook that they had seen at Columbia and other places,” he said. “It was the same messaging. So, it’s more than a social contagion. I think they’re organized networks as well.”
Congress has investigated the role of outside non-governmental organizations and foreign entities in campus protests, and former director of national intelligence Avril Haines announced in July 2024 the Iranian government encouraged the demonstrations and provided financial support to protesters.
Hamas members themselves have indicated the terror group has worked with U.S. activists. Three Israelis who had been held captive in Gaza alleged in a May lawsuit that one of their Hamas captors told them that “Hamas in Gaza was coordinating with its allies, including its allies in the media and on college campuses, to foment hatred against Israel and Jews.”…

One thing they’ve done – completely screwed up the futures of all foreign students in the US. Previously, foreign students could complete their courses and then under OPT get a job before it got converted into H1Bs and other things. But thanks to the Columbia U demonstrators, the spotlight has totally shifted to these foreign students, and now all sorts of new visa rules have hit that make it very expensive, if not impossible, for them to remain in this country. Hopefully, that will force their home countries to pick up their own economies

Totally agree. Are Universities also need to do away with special groups having their own Student Unions on Campuses. They also need to pay attention as to what is being taught in these foreign studies classes.

Whilst students go to university for exposure to new ideas, given that most are so young, the university must have some pastoral responsibility for shielding them from groups that will not only instill malignant ideas but incite them to criminal acts. Identifying the external groups that have fomented unrest is a step in the right direction, but the next step is to make sure that they cannot do it again, not because students should not be able to protest anything that they believe to be unjust, but because the initiative for doing so should come from them.

Iran’s top Muslim cleric leader, Ayatollah Khamenei, is ,without doubt ,is very happy and glad those in high positions in institutions of “higher education” have accepted bribes by the stealth jihadists and have brainwashed and manipulated those poor naive and misinformed college young people to be his useful idiots to attempt to fulfill that Islamic goal of destroying the State of Israel and then replacing her with an Islamic “state.”
Another terrible harsh and tragic reality is that Khamenei couldn’t care less about those American college people who he only uses as his stooges. Those college young people who have been led astray deceived and are now being used should not be scorned but instead they should be pitied.

It’s very obvious that those insidious stealth jihadists gaining power and influence of those high position’s institutions of “higher education” must, obviously, be accepting “gifts”, bribes, from persons from foreign oil rich countries.
Many universities and colleges across the United States and in the United Kingdom have been thoroughly infiltrated and influenced by the insidious stealth jihadists.
There may be little doubt that those stealth jihadists are backed and funded by that hostile, belligerent Islamic regime of Iran as well as Qatar and Saudi Arabia.
Furthermore, there is obviously something terribly wrong with those young people on campus who aren’t Muslim who nevertheless admire and support that vicious dangerous and deadly jihad entity, Hamas. They, sadly, are confused or outright ignorant or both on the subject of Israel and the religion of Islam with its Muslim terrorist organizations.

In their ignorance many of them are just “jumping on the bandwagon” For example, a. reporter walked over to one of those “student” protesters who was holding a sign that read “From the River to the Sea” and asked her “What river ?” and she replied, “I don’t know.” Then the reporter asked her “Which sea ?” To that question, she answered, “I don’t know.”
