The news is not unexpected in the least, given the maniacal hatred that leftists have directed at Donald Trump ever since he first announced that he was running for president in 2015, and even before then, when he dared not to strike the appropriate posture of awe and reverence before the august personage of Barack Hussein Obama. Now, however, a psychotherapist has confirmed it: hatred of the president is driving leftists stark, raving mad.
Collin Rugg of Trending Politics noted Friday that “psychotherapist Jonathan Alpert says that 75% of the patients he sees have a deep hatred for Trump and are ‘hyper fixated’ on him.” They hate him, but he is, after all, president of the United States, and they can’t bear to stop following politics closely enough to regain some perspective and serenity. “They can’t sleep,” Alpert said on Fox News, because “they feel traumatized by Mr. Trump.”
Alpert said: “I had one patient who said she couldn’t enjoy a vacation because anytime she saw Trump in the news or on her device, she felt triggered…. So this is a profound pathology, and I would even go so far as to call it the defining pathology of our time.” That’s right. Trump Derangement Syndrome isn’t just a phrase patriots use to mock leftists anymore. It’s a real malady, and it deserves a place in the next edition of the Diagnostic and Statistical Manual of Mental Disorders, the basic handbook for mental health workers.
Why do leftists suffer from this, while patriots have endured the misrule of Bill Clinton, Obama, and Old Joe Biden without being driven totally around the bend? There are many reasons for that, chief among them being the fact that patriots generally tend to be religious people, while leftists are not. A key element of both Judaism and Christianity is the idea is that human beings are flawed to the extent that it is not possible to establish a perfect society on earth.
The awareness of human frailty also prevents patriots from both mistaking politicians for gods, while a hallmark of leftist regimes in the modern age has been the cult of personality. Leftism contends that the perfect society — be it the workers’ paradise of Marxism or some DEI palace of equity that soothes the nightmares of the likes of Kamala Harris — can actually be established on earth.
When it is established, it will be the work of a benign human god such as Lenin, Stalin, Mao, Kim Jong Un or some other leftist tyrant; all of these and others have demanded, and received, worshipful adoration from their people. In their officially atheist regimes, these leaders (and other leftists who have risen to the top in totalitarian regimes) have clearly endeavored to take the place of God in their hearts and minds of those over whom they rule.

As we have seen in several instances now, the celebrations of the assassination of Charlie Kirk by myriad Leftist groups and individuals, be it at “No-Kings’ rallies” or other such events, shows that an increasing number of Leftists are now murderous sociopaths. People who are often in their vicinity should be well armed, and well prepared to use them, if only in self defense

TDS is fueled by fear and loneliness. The Left has abandoned the wisdom and rooting in common plans for life which value imperfect people – such as religion. A common base for life opens the door for a functioning society outside of family. Happiness is a local phenomenon requiring some purposeful discounting of life’s setbacks and political machinations. In the bloody 1600s there were poor, powerless, happy people.
This is why Muslims get angry when the absurdidies and violent history of Islam are highlighted in media. Anyone with a strong life-directing belief is threatened by losing that foundation, followed by loss of companionship and status within the group.
Today, morality and happiness are being smothered by unrewarding hedonistic practices that, like eating too many chocolates, loose their novelty, promised nirvana, and leave people yearning for something reliable and consistent.
Wokeness is an impoverished relative of religion, intolerant, like Islam, of those who think differently, and a position from which to judge the world. It has the false core belief that humans can be perfected with the right laws(theirs) and punishments – all they need to perfect society is to control government. They will do it right, “this time”, like all the other times.
Donald Trump is definitely not perfect and standing in the Left’s way to control government and us. He taunts them almost daily and seems to delight in it. The left has tried to keep him from power for 7 years – including assassination attempts – and yet he pops back up like a bottom-weighted blow-up novelty figure. They can’t accept that he is the symbol which proves half the population does not agree with leftist values – and a painful suggestion that they might be the authors of their own unhappiness.
TDS isn’t new, it was seen under different names in every communist pre-revolution interval.

Psychotherapists are hardly at the top of the scale of mental health professionals.

It’s really a lot simpler than you make it to be. Yes, a normal, sane, mentally stable person can definitely commit an evil act. And no, those acts wouldn’t exist w/o people committing them
A person who does evil acts, such as murder, spread hatred, slander,… is evil. Ten commandments is usually a good starting point, although I’d leave out the first 4 for the purposes of this
That can’t be treated by a psychotherapist or a psychologist: it has to be treated by the law, as it exists on the book

Psychopaths are often evil and commit evil acts, but they are not considered to be *mental* cases. Psychopathy is a personality disorder, so the person like that can be considered ‘sane and stable.’
Many doctors, lawyers and other professionals, who are considered to be “normal” are psychopaths.

Evil souls have no remorse for their evil acts. They refuse to repent. I think that’s the key distinction that sets them apart from “normal, sane, mentally stable persons” who commit evil acts. The evil person sees nothing wrong with that behavior and has no regret.

Nevertheless the qualification to be able to call one’s self a “psychotherapist” range from social worker to psychiatrist. The opinion and experience of one psychotherapist does little to prove a point.
BTW I have known a number of people who would fall under the definition of “evil” suggested by many here and who have been rehabilitated to healthy, productive life.

How many accounts of people going ballistic when they don’t get the right sandwich, or a fork or straw at a fast food place?
How many accounts of road rage because someone cuts another off or doesn’t yield to being cut off?
Some nuts insist on others capitulating to their ideas of what is right, good or otherwise when it doesn’t really make a difference in that person’s (the nut’s) life?
As president, Trump is front and center, so it all seems focused on him. But it’s everywhere.

You are right. I can recall many years ago when some people would tell me I needed to have my hair cut (I wear it long) or would tell me what clothes I should wear. I could be considered a non-conformist in those areas, and others would practically insist that I bow to their ideas….not giving up when I refused.
