Egypt has a lengthy history that predates Islam, and also threatens it. For instance, the Coptic Christians, who have rejected and resisted Islam since it entered Egypt, are proud of their ancient heritage. Islamic leaders want Egyptians to focus their pride only upon Islam, which is, of course, a supremacist religion.
Anything that threatens to distract and detract from Islam is haram, including secular music, because it is a tenet of Islam must outshine and outdo all cultures, civilizations and religions. Its god is greater than all gods on the face of the earth, as is declared in the adhan, the Islamic call to prayer that is recited five times a day.

Egyptian Salafi preacher Mustafa al-Adawy sparked widespread debate after urging Muslims to avoid glorifying ancient Egyptian civilization during the opening of the Grand Egyptian Museum in Cairo, warning against “fitna” and admiration of Pharaoh and his people.
Al-Adawy urged caution for those visiting the museum, emphasizing that the visit should not lead to admiration or veneration of ancient Egyptian civilization.
In a video that quickly gained traction on social media, al-Adawy expressed his concerns, stating, “I fear that Egyptians will be captivated by the statue of Ramses and the idols, statues, and treasures of the Pharaohs, along with the methods of mummification housed in the museum.
He stressed that these artifacts should be visited with the purpose of reflection, rather than pride, citing the Quranic verse: “Say, ‘Travel through the land and observe how the end of the criminals was.'”
Al-Adawy further criticized Pharaoh, calling him “the cursed tyrant who claimed divinity.” He underscored that it is the duty of every Muslim to disassociate from Pharaoh’s actions and beliefs.
“We bear witness to Allah that we renounce him, his followers, and his corrupt, tainted beliefs,” he declared. The preacher urged Muslims to visit the museum with the intent of drawing lessons from the artifacts, not to celebrate them….

He’s actually right. The only thing the Arab Republic of Egypt has in common w/ Pharaonic Egypt is a hatred of the Hebrews. But that doesn’t imply that the former would have any greater tolerance for their Pasadjet heritage any more than their tolerance for their Coptic population

Neither General El-Sisi, nor Egypt’s hotel and restaurant owners, nor that outrageous publicity hound Zahi Hawass, a fair-to-middling archaeologist who as a government official controls access to Egypt’s archeological sites (even denying such access to young archeologists whom he sees as rivals, or as insufficiently obsequious toward him), are going to let some cleric, or even a group of clerics, get in the way of the success of the Grand Egyptian Museum that cost a billion dollars to build, and has caused a huge outburst of national pride — pride even in something that dates from the time of the Jabaliya, that is, the Time of Ignorance before Islam. This troglodytic cleric opposed to the Museum and the interest it will create for pre-Islamic Egypt will be denounced in the government-controlled media, and may even lose his job. National pride will here trump Islamic doctrine, which is a good thing.

They’ll probably try to make them into mosques. That’s what they do to any building that enshrines a non-Islamic tradition. They think that it proves that Allah is greater than any other deity, but to my mind it only proves that he is more insecure than any other entity – for, as the NT puts it “he knows that his time is short”.

He is not Islam enough, he should urge muslims to destroy all Egyptian antiquities just like what Muhammad did. Then Egypt will have no more western tourists, and fall to poverty.
