Chicago-area imam: ‘Muhammad said… women’s brains are smaller than those of men’

This is based on a hadith:

Narrated Abu Hurairah that the Messenger of Allah (ﷺ) delivered a Khtubah in which he exhorted them, then he said: “O women! Give charity for you are the majority of the people of the Fire.” A woman among them said: “And why is that O Messenger of Allah?” He said: “Because of your cursing so much.” – meaning your ungratefulness towards your husbands. He said: “And I have not seen any among those lacking in intellect and religion who are more difficult upon people possessing reason and insight than you.” A woman among them said: “And what is the deficiency of her intellect and religion?” He said: “The testimony of two women among you is like the testimony of a man, and the deficiency in your religion is menstruation, because one of you will go three or four days without performing Salat.” (Jami al-Tirmidhi, 5.40.2613)

“Chicago-Area Imam Jamal Said: Men Are Perfect And Their Brains Are Bigger Than Women’s; Treating Your Wife As An Equal Is Wrong; Women Cannot Choose Who To Marry – They Need A Male Guardian, Even If He’s A Lot Younger Than Them,” MEMRI, November 7, 2025:

In a November 7, 2025 lecture at the Mosque Foundation in Bridgeview, Illinois, its principal imam and director, Jamal Said, stated that men are perfect, while women are governed by emotions and hormones. He said that it is wrong for a man to treat his wife as an equal and that women who demand equality with men are mistaken. Imam Said further explained that women cannot make their own decisions regarding marriage and must have a male guardian who can marry them off to a suitor. He advised Muslim women not to question Allah’s decree by asking why their 18-year-old brother can be their guardian while they are 30 years old and hold a PhD.

Jamal Said: “Generally speaking, men are more mentally complete. The Prophet Muhammad said… Scientists today say – and there are doctors present and they can weigh in – that women’s brains are smaller than those of men. Therefore, her obligations are not the same as those of men. One needs to take into account women’s emotions, unlike with men.

“They were created from a rib, and the most crooked part of the rib is its uppermost. If you attempt to straighten it, you will break it. So leave it as it is. Enjoy it the way it is. This is because of women’s emotions, because of their hormones, because of the ‘monthly visitor’ that comes and totally messes them up, because of old age, because of breastfeeding, because of pregnancy… There are many causes that need to be considered.

“So men are perfect, and if a man lowers himself from this perfection, and treats his wife as an equal, saying to her: ‘you and I are equal’ – well, he is wrong. And if a woman demands to be equal to the man, she is making a big mistake. You are not like him, and you do not have equal authority. The authority lies with the man.

“All jurisprudents agree that as a woman, you cannot just decide to get married. There has to be a male relative who will act as a guardian, and marry you off to a suitor who comes to ask for your hand in marriage.

“You just can’t do that. And do not argue and say: ‘What do you mean? My 18-year-old brother is supposed to be my guardian, even though I am 30 years old, I am smart, and I have a PhD?’ This is Allah’s decree.”

  2. “Men are perfect”? That’s breaking news. But, muzzies should not get the *big head* over this as they are not even “men.” Males, yes but imperfect beyond what imperfect men are.

    Choosing to worship a false god whose only interest is in doing the greatest harm possible to mankind, while telling every lie about man’s Creator, is not just *imperfect,* but it’s stupid and demonically evil.

    Brains are not all the same exact size, varying by the person in whose head the brain resides. Not all men have large brains. The size of the head gives a clue to the size of the brain.

    But, beyond size, it’s what the brain thinks and for what it is used that matters.

    muzzies like to brag and also to put women down. It feeds their ego and salves any resemblance of conscience they may have because they are aware how badly they treat females….of all ages.

    A hummingbird’s brain is so tiny, but they *think* and behave so much better than do muzzies.

      Years ago I helped a Muslim woman struggling up stairs in the Montréal Metro with two small children in a double stroller. Her husband did nothing. When we got to the top I asked why he wasn’t helping, his response “Muslim men do not do such things”.

      My response was “I can see you’re Muslim but you are definitely not a man”.

      Since them I’ve worried that she was probably later beaten.

    Adult male brains average roughly 1,300–1,400 grams. Adult female brains average roughly 1,150–1,250 grams.This difference, however, is proportional to overall body size, not to intelligence or cognitive ability.

    When adjusted for body size, the sex difference in brain volume becomes very small, and studies show no meaningful differences in general intelligence between men and women.

    There is large overlap between men and women: many women have larger brains than many men. Brain weight or size does not correlate straightforwardly with intelligence. What matters is neural connectivity, organization, and many other biological and environmental factors.

    So, maybe this imam was looking for a topic for his sermon. But anything that an imam says is probably factually incorrect, but seems correct to his ignorant audience.

  7. To the extent that women’s brains are smaller, it is solely due to body size. The average Homo sapiens brain is c.1350 cc. Home erectus’ brain (this is the species of Homo that came out of Africa) was around 1000 cc. That of Homo habilis, the first true representative of the genus Homo, was around 750 cc. Australopithecines, a different genus from Homo and it seems almost certainly an evolutionary dead end, had a brain case of some 650 cc.

    Sorry for the anthropological digression. In any case, you could have a female who weighs only a hundred pounds and has a brain case of some 1250 cc and she could be absolutely brilliant with an IQ around 150-160. By contrast, you could have a male who is almost seven feet tall and weighs some 375 pounds and has a brain case of some 1400 cc but who could be quite stupid, with an IQ of around 90. Yes indeed, within a certain range size matters and so this Buttlim is correct (kinda’ of) but for the wrong reason. But then Buttlims getting things wrong, even though sometimes with a little piece of the truth here and there present, is a regular feature of Buttlims, now isn’t it?

What more proof do we need to know that Islam was created by men to raise armies and make women their tilth – unable to choose marriage partners, unable to refuse sex, receive full inheritance, or complain of their superior husband running off with the men to sack a village and literally rape the women conquered?

    Which women of the feminist movement would approve of their spouse running off to rape the women of another city and perhaps return with them as slave wives? That ignorance by liberal women of life under Islam only makes Muhammad’s view of “inferior” women appear correct in the modern world.

    Islam is a conquering horde religion created to justify, promote, and prosper by pillaging under the “unquestionable” vindication that, “It’s Allah’s will”.

    Given other options in the EU, many Muslims, the brightest, are leaving Islam – rebuilding a new platform for life, the most difficult thing a human can do after being fully integrated with another. Joseph Campbell (Follow your bliss) spoke of this and its high cost.

    The bright ones, remaining in leadership, are there for the perks more than Allah, continuing the exploit of the fearful masses who fear the tortures of Allah may have the hardness of German steel while the mercy is but words. Maybe Allah is an AI?

  11. In the curse of the fall in Genesis, one of the results of human disobedience is the tendency for men to rule over women, which is not the same language/behavior as Biblical headship.     • Well his six year old wife most likely had a smaller size brain than most full grown males or females at that time. He certainly didn’t want a female that was smarter than him and that wouldn’t have taken much.

  17. Brain size is not a reliable indicator of intelligence. I’ve met Chihuahuas that were much smarter than Great Danes.
