Last year, the Yemeni government warned of the Houthi threat to the “world’s digital infrastructure.” Then it was reported in April that Yemeni forces were planning a ground offensive against the Houthis. Even Al-Jazeera reported a month later that “anti-Houthi factions in Yemen could be vying for US support to attack the movement’s territory.”
The Council on Foreign Relations stated in March:
Fighting between Houthi rebels and the Saudi coalition that backs Yemen’s internationally recognized government has largely subsided, but Houthis have repeatedly attacked ships transiting the Red Sea in response to Israel’s war on Hamas.
Civil war has for years devastated Yemen; that war escalated a decade ago when Houthis seized control of significant areas of northern and western Yemen, including its capital, Sanaa.
Ever since October 7, the Houthi threat has significantly increased, not only to Israel but to shipping vessels in the Red Sea; also, the group has drawn Israeli retaliatory attacks on Yemeni soil.
Now the Houthi leadership in Yemen has led an attack on Trump’s Peace Plan by urging an Islamic stance against Israel.
This raises questions about how far Yemen is willing to go in direct confrontation with Israel.

The Yemeni government has reaffirmed its support for the people of Gaza following the enforcement of a ceasefire deal between Hamas and Israel.
President of the Supreme Political Council, Mahdi al-Mashat, made the comment in a speech on Monday marking the 62nd anniversary of Yemen’s revolution.
Mashat called on Arab and Islamic countries to adopt a united stance on Israel’s violations against regional countries.
He said Yemen will continue to closely and diligently monitor the implementation of the truce agreement and the entry of aid into Gaza.
Mashat warned that Yemen is ready to respond to any developments regarding the Gaza truce.
He commended the sacrifices made by all those who have stood by the oppressed Palestinian people, especially Lebanon’s Hezbollah movement, as well as the people of Iraq and Iran.
Mashat praised the positions taken by people across the world against the Israeli crime of genocide and starvation in Gaza…..

Talking about the world’s digital infrastructure, countries like India and everyone to its east should have its digital infrastructure submarine network connected eastwards – to Singapore, Australia, Philippines, Taiwan, Japan and then Alaska and then on to Vancouver and San Francisco. They can be connected that way, w/o being at the mercy of the Houthis
Most sunni countries would look at the Houthis as infidels anyway, regardless of where they stand on Israel, where they have a questionable “victory”

I see that the Houthis haven’t gotten the message yet when Israel took ou5 its ports, power plants, fuel depots, and had its runways cratered. In contrast, ,Houthi missiles have only caused a few hundred thousand dollars worth of damage to Israel.
