The wording of an official definition of Islamophobia has been rehashed, amid concerns about the impact it could have on free speech, according to reports.
A Government working group will aim to focus on defining “anti-Muslim hate” instead of Islamophobia, according to the Telegraph.
Critics of the efforts to create a new legal definition for Islamophobia had raised concerns that doing so could create backdoor blasphemy laws, and curtail speech about Islamic extremism.
Ministers launched the working group aimed at defining Islamophobia or anti-Muslim hatred in February, in an effort to help stem rising numbers of hate crimes against Muslims.
The review of the definition, led by former Conservative minister Dominic Grieve, is said to have moved away from using the words “Islamophobia” and “Muslimness”, according to the Telegraph.
New wording will aim to define hatred towards Muslims, but also protect free speech, the newspaper said.
Crossbench peer Baroness Gohir, one of the experts on the working group, told the newspaper she expected the public to be “pleasantly surprised” when the review concludes.
Gohir, who is also chief executive of the Muslim Women’s Network UK, added: “I expect those who opposed the already existing definitions for being too vague, or because they felt these prevented criticism of Islam or debate of other issues of concern to them, will want ministers to adopt ours, as I believe it resolves those concerns.”
She also warned that if the group’s wording is not adopted, the current “problematic” definition will continue to be used….

Contrary to what many people think, it’s a distinction w/o a difference. Nobody would be discussing islam had it not been for the hard fact that there are ~1.5-2.0 billion muslims worldwide. Granted, a lot of them may be MINOs, but that’s almost impossible to calculate what % of them actually are
Take the Branch Davidian cult of David Koresh, which Janet Reno went after in 1993, which ended in the Waco compound burning down and some 40 people, including Koresh, being killed. It was as evil as islam, but nobody really bothered about it, b’cos the number of people who followed it weren’t even 3 figures. Contrast that w/ islam, whose followers can almost be counted by the billion. Reason islam is a threat and why people are alarmed by it is the muslims – or more precisely, the fact that there are that many of them
To sum it up another way, “hate the sin but love the sinner” doesn’t work, since sins don’t exist in the absense of sinners

Infidel, I don’t believe I have ever read “hate the sin, but love the sinner,” in the Bible.
“Love your enemies” is misunderstood by most who think they understand it, and that’s as close as I can recall any idea of ‘loving’ these people being in the Bible.
So, because the Bible informs the reader in Proverbs that Jehovah God “hates six things; seven are detestable to His Soul,'” and all things listed are parts of the human body, I’m not worried about my *feelings* toward those who, not only ‘hate’ me, but wish me dead by their hands.
If the numbers only were what scared people, one could examine *why* that is. However, it’s what the so-called ”minority” do and threaten, which is so alarming.
And, James, I’m not “okay” with any of them….not one. If that “one” follows the demands of the book of filth in any way, he’s not “okay” with me breathing air.

To ban Patriot marches was the reason why the Muslim Home secetary has proposed a law change recently.
I don’t that has been passed yet but that doesn’t mean she can’t already get the same result.
In London if the police want to ban a march they can do so if there a liklihood of ‘serious disorder” BUT they have to get the permission of the Home Secretary.
She is a pro Palestine protestor herself.
Now you can see why those Hamas marches are never banned.

Islamophobia: a term used to identify people who are afraid of Islam for no reason. But hey there are many reasons to acknowledge Islam as a threat.
Political leaders are in the pot with Islam, they are afraid of, being paid to protect and or the big one are Muslim forcing the laws to change in order for Islam to seize control of the cities and then nation.
Its all a plot to conquer nation by nation and guess what, if people fail to fight back then they are doomed to live under sharia law Islamic rule.
As for the UK rewriting their free speech laws or definition there of, its a joke Islam will prevail.

Why is it that only Islam is protected from free speech? I hear Islamic Imam screaming hate for Jews and Christians all the time. They even goes as far as threatening to rape and murder all non-muslims. If Islam and Muslims are going to publicly threaten me I’m certainly going to speak up and defend my self and my beliefs.
Islam is hate speech and Islamophobia is its protection from the TRUTH.

some months ago, I read of a young boy being stabbed by a fellow student. I thought at the time that the murderer was a muzzie scum. Today, I read this.
“Harvey Willgoose, 15, was stabbed in the heart in front of horrified children by Mohammed ‘Umar’ Khan, who had taken a hunting knife to school on February 3. Other children fled ‘in fear and panic’ after the attack at All Saints Catholic High School in Sheffield, with some locking themselves in a school cupboard.
Khan was found guilty of murder in August and is being sentenced by judge Mrs Justice Ellenbogen today. Ahead of passing sentence, the senior judge lifted the automatic reporting restriction that had been in place. It barred publication of Khan’s identity during the trial and would have otherwise remained until he is 18. The judge told Sheffield Crown Court that Khan will be sentenced to a ‘significant minimum term’ of imprisonment – describing the murder as ‘a serious crime carried out by one pupil against another on school property.’
She said the ‘public will wish to know the identity of those who commit such serious offences’, and said the defendant’s age was not a sufficient reason for him to remain anonymous. Jurors in the trial were shown CCTV footage of the moment Harvey was stabbed twice. One of the blows cut through a rib and pierced his heart. Immediately after the stabbing Khan told All Saints’ headteacher Sean Pender: ‘I’m not right in the head. My mum doesn’t look after me right.’ The school’s assistant head, Morgan Davis, took the knife off Khan and heard him say ‘you know I can’t control it’, which the teacher took to be a reference to his anger issues, given previous incidents of violent behaviour at school.”
The murderer had carried knives, showed his collection on the web, and talked about using them. He claimed he carried knives because he was ‘in fear’ of others.
His attorney said he “snapped” on the day he murdered the young man. He didn’t ‘snap.’ It was premediated murder.

After he murdered the young teen for no good reason, he didn’t want to face the consequences of his crime, and pretended he had a ‘fear’ of the other students. His defense saying he ‘snapped,’ as if it was a sudden, spur-of-the-moment action, was pure deceit.
