New in PJ Media:
President Donald Trump is building a new ballroom at the White House, and top leftists and demonstrating yet again that they’re completely out of ideas as to what to do about this man. They couldn’t defeat him at the ballot box, except when they cheated. They couldn’t destroy him with fake legal cases; instead, all they did was reveal to the watching world how deeply corrupt and desperately dishonest they really are. In comparison to those two efforts, however, claiming that he is a dictator in the making and is wantonly destroying “the people’s house” looks weak and petulant by comparison. And that’s only because that’s exactly what it is.
Leading the way in the attacks on Trump’s new White House ballroom is none other than Hillary Clinton, and when it comes to Hillary, you never know: is she testing the waters for a 2028 presidential run? After all, she’ll only be 81, relatively young by presidential standards these days, when election day 2028 rolls around, and clearly she still has the old fire. On Tuesday, Hillary posted on X a story about Trump’s renovations, and commented: “It’s not his house. It’s your house. And he’s destroying it.”
Unusually for Hillary, she actually included a true statement: the White House does indeed not belong to Donald Trump. Despite his “Trump 2028” trolling of the all-too-easily-trolled Democrats, he’ll be moving out no later than Jan. 20, 2029. But the rest of what she wrote is piffle of a particularly self-righteous and annoying variety.
In the first place, the White House is not your house, or mine, or ours. The White House is the official residence of the president of the United States. If you’re not the president of the United States, then it isn’t your house. It’s that simple. Saying it’s our house is the same kind of emotional manipulation that Democrats engage in when they claim that Trump is threatening “our democracy.”
We don’t have a democracy. We have a republic. Trump is duly executing its laws in a manner that his opponents dislike. That is not in any way a threat to the republic. You want a real threat to the republic? How about framing the leader of the leader of the opposition for crimes he didn’t commit, so as to ensure he cannot return to office? Now that’s a threat to what Hillary would call “our democracy.”
And in this case, Hillary had not a word of protest when Barack Obama installed solar panels on the White House roof in 2013. She said nothing about how Obama was destroying our house. And she doesn’t really hate Trump’s ballroom at all. If her husband or Obama or Biden had built it, she would love it. She hates the builder.
There is more. Read the rest here.

Trump has a reputation for garish decoration in the style of a mafia run catering hall. But, some people like that. It should, however be noted that taxpayer money is not being spent on this renovation. Donations to fund the project are primarily private, and Trump himself made a donation. YouTube is also paying the settlement funds for Trump’s lawsuit against them to the ballroom project instead of to Trump.

I think that if the DOJ decides to pay Trump for the lawfare of the previous administration, then the proceeds from that can go into this

Question: When the white house was being renovated during Truman’s presidency was there any backlash?
Truman was preserving the white house with improvements and here is President Trump doing the same by rebuilding an area to make a larger ball room.
Quit being petty, not a dime of tax money is being spent and as for the style of the room it will be grand as it should be for the room that it will be.
Obama built a basketball court on the tax payers dime so STFU

Well, of course the White House should look old and inflexible like #10 Downing Street, a true representation of a declining empire that went bust in WW2 but still speaks as if was significant while grooming gangs despot its girls, London becomes a foreign city, the Royal Family implodes regularly, and its politicians work mightily at dragging the US into a direct war with Russia.
The East Wing didn’t exist before 1942? By all means, tear it down and replace it with the green grass of nature as a tribute to Climate Change. Better yet, let it naturally, along with the rest of the lawn, return to its natural state in recognition of the Greens. That will impress foreign heads of state when calling.
Yes, the White House should represent the ideals of the Left. They love to give away other American’s stuff to anyone who will vote for them and claim victimhood – a free dependency, a fish today and a fish tomorrow. When in power they could construct a poor house on the grounds to house the people they bankrupted with lawfare until the relatives can pay off the debts. The addition of a tattoo and piercing parlor would be a nice touch. It could offer special designs as a White House visit reward for those collecting the most mail-in ballots. And the WH beauty parlor? More hair colors, please!
France and Russia will still have far more impressive staterooms and palaces. Upgrading the WH does not make a king. And that Clinton filly who bitched at the main speaker while giving her student graduation speech? Now bitching about the addition of a ballroom, an improvement which shows the US is still a dynamic and growing nation. Trump is giving furnishings to the White House while some folks took what they could.

Talking about Hillary, I recall that when she was First Lady, she was pretty happy to redo and remake things in the White House. It was not her house then either
There have been changes to the White House throughout history – I’m pretty sure the Founding Fathers may not have had electricity. A future president may make a “smart” White House where a lot of the fixtures, such as any elevators, are AI controlled

When the clintons left the WH, they took stuff and destroyed stuff.
GE says
Didn’t she take (steal) the White House China? Can’t remember if it was returned—
࿗Infidel࿘ says
Yeah, she did sill White House silverware: not sure about the china. And there were Algore staffers who plucked out the “W”s out of keyboards
Transmaster says
As I recall, about 1.5 million dollars in damage was done to the White House by Clinton staffers.
Westman says
True, Infidel. There was no electricity in the White House when it was first used in 1800 by John Adams. It was destroyed by the Brits except for the walls in 1814 (war of 1812). It was then rebuilt. It got running water in 1833. The first non-electric central heating of two rooms, 1840. The first electricity installed at the (rebuilt) WH in 1891 during the Harrison administration. It’s claimed that the Harrisons were so afraid of electricity that they made the staff operate the switches.
So Shrillary, wanting the original WH would accept a burned-out shell with no heating and no running water. Yeah, right. I bet that gal can give ol’ Bill a haircut with her voice.

Thanks, somehistory, GE, Transmaster and Westman, for your responses

This addition will save the taxpayers millions of dollars every year. There has never been enough room for official state functions. A large pavilion tent has been needed, along with HVAC equipment. It costs about 3 million US Dollars to erect and take down this tent.

Hillary is just pissed because she didn’t get to remodel the White House. Bill would probably had a private cell.
