In his Knesset speech, Donald Trump, flush with triumph, and enjoying the hero’s welcome the Israeli parliament members gave him, made a number of statements that deserve scrutiny. He said that “Israel has won all that can be won by force of arms.” Is this true? The IDF was forced to call off its final battle against the last intact Hamas fighting units in Gaza City. Just on the verge of victory, its hand was stayed, so that Hamas remains, and can present itself as “still standing” despite the very worst the IDF could throw at it. Another month of fighting — that “force of arms” Trump referred to — might have conclusively put paid to Hamas. Trump prefers to think, or to pretend to think, that the IDF had inflicted all the damage it could, that Hamas was already destroyed. It was not.
He said that the “age of terror and death” in the Middle East is over. Really? Does anyone think Palestinian terrorism will now end? Or terror attacks from Lebanese Hezbollah? Or from the Houthis in Yemen? Or from the IRGC in Iran? Right now, Hamas has its hands full fighting the clans in Gaza that have opposed them. But Hamas intends to renew its terrorism against Israel just as soon as it can attract thousands of new recruits in Gaza; it has already had some success in such recruitment, having sent out a call for 7,000 new recruits. In Judea and Samaria, there continue to be terror attacks on Israeli civilians, and the IDF continues to blow up the houses of terrorists in the territories to discourage others. The Palestinian Authority continues with its “Pay-For-Slay” program, that provides generous monthly stipends to imprisoned terrorists and to the families of terrorists who died while committing their acts of terror.” “Pay-For-Slay” thus rewards past, and incentivizes future, terrorism. Muslim terrorism will continue, and not only against Israel, but against the entire West — think of 9/11 in the U.S. and 7/7 in the U.K., or the mass casualties at Charlie Hebdo and the Bataclan nightclub in France — just as long as Muslims take to heart the texts and teachings of Islam. It was Muhammad who in a famous hadith said “I have been made victorious through terror.”Only one thing stops Islamic terror: the a threat of infliction, or the actual infliction, of a catastrophic military defeat. Trump ought not to have made such baseless predictions. He could have said something more modest and truthful, such as “thanks to the IDF, we now have terrorists on the run in this neighborhood.”
Trump also spoke about “a historic dawn of a new Middle East.” How likely is that? Will the Arabs and Jews sit down in a Peaceable Kingdom by Edward Hicks? Hezbollah is still trying to hold onto outposts south of the Litani River in Lebanon, from where its combatants hope to renew their attacks on Israel’s Galilee. The Houthis continue to fire drones and missiles at Israeli targets from Yemen. ISIS has regrouped in northern Iraq. The high hopes placed by the West in Syria’s new leader, Ahmed al-Sharaa, are unwarranted; Al-Sharaa’s men have murdered 1,500 Alawites in Latakia, and killed more than a thousand Druze, mostly civilians, in the governorate of Suweida. In southern Syria;, he killing of the Druze continues. Is there a “historic dawn” in Syria? In Egypt, the military dictatorship of General al-Sisi continues, without any hint of democratic elections ever being held. In Iraq, the Shia Arabs who make up 69% of the population continue to dominate the government, while Sunni Arabs and Kurds uneasily try to prevent the country from becoming a Shi’a Arab dictatorship, just as it was a Sunni Arab dictatorship under Saddam Hussein. In fact, there is reason to fear a backsliding away from peace agreements made by Arab governments with Israel in the past. Egypt has been moving troops deep into the Sinai, in violation of the Camp David Accords; the Israeli government has asked Washington to intervene, and to persuade Egypt to pull back its troops. And then there is Iran, the most malevolent and dangerous of Middle Eastern states, that is trying to rebuild its nuclear program that Israeli and American attacks in June set back, possibly by as much as two years. Iran also wants to build ballistic missiles to replace those destroyed in June by the Iraelis.. Would Trump argue that Iran is part of that “historic dawn in the new Middle East” that he says has just been achieved, we are given to understand, by none other than Donald J. Trump?
Trump also said at the Knesset that “everyone wants to join the Abraham Accords.” Is this true? Saudi Arabia has merely repeated what it has maintained all along: it will only join the Abraham Accords once a Palestinian state has been created. But 80% of Israelis are now opposed to a Palestinian state. If the Saudis hew to their current position, they will never join the Abraham Accords. What other countries does Trump think are so eager to “join the Abraham Accords”? None, as far as I know, have expressed such eagerness. He’s hallucinating, not for the first time.

With respect to a permanent (>40 years) peace, Trump is smoking the crack pipe o’ truth!!! The only way for that to have happened is for Israel to have killed every last Hamas fighter. And physically taken over Gaza. Deporting the Gazans to Yemen would have been a nice finishing touch.
If Iran and Turkey and the Houthis saw this happen, they would probably refrain from

Although I do agree with most of the things you wrote, sir, I think if Israel had gone on to the end, the last hostages remaining alive would’ve been certainly killed and this would be even more tragic. In fact, I think any deal which could’ve been done to release the hostages, even if that meant releasing too many terrorists, it would still be worth as these innocents were only slaughtered because there was this dreadful leakage in their intelligence and/or another serious glitch in the security system for that massacre to have happened. The state indeed failed all those civilians and not getting all the hostages back alive was another betrayal to them, in my opinion. Anyway, I’m still a staunch Zionist, I just think there are too many Kremlin puppets and leftist traitors in the Knesset trying to destroy the country from within or allying with the genocidal dictator in the evil Russian empire of horrors.

Although I agree with Pres. Trump roughly 95% of the time, his misunderstanding of islam has caused him to make some very poor choices regarding Israel – especially allowing Hamas to survive.

All people have limitations. People who are stellar in some areas may have little or no knowledge or talent in other areas.
One of the very best (if not the best) hitters in Major League Baseball was Ted Williams. Interestingly, he like to also play golf but could never play at a competitive level. And the greatest of all time golfer Jack Nicklaus couldn’t really hit a baseball.
Pres. Trump is very intelligent and very capable in many areas. But he does not seem to understand that he has very limited knowledge about islam – and how it affects Israel in the Middle East.
He should realize that he has limited knowledge in that area and seek guidance from experts like Robert Spencer, Pamela Geller, Hugh Fitzgerald, Daniel Greenfield, John Guandolo, Frank Gaffney, Raymond Ibrahim…

It’s a show of wisdom to listen to others in order to learn more. Many people do not understand that and once they believe they ‘know all they need to,’ they stop listening.
Mt. Trump said something about islam ‘hating us,’ but then this time around, he acts like he never knew that.
It makes me think of rats. Rats carry disease and have been known to eat people who cannot get away from them, especially when the rat numbers are large.
Then, other people make pets of rats., befriending them.
Trump is making friends with rats which may just turn on him….and through him, the rest of us.
If you came to be his physician, you could listen to his heart and lungs and whisper some words in his ear. Give him some medical advice about not making friends with those who carry an awful disease.
Someone near him needs to give him the list of names you have made. Just one or two could make a difference; if he didn’t have time to consult everyone.
