Spain: Priest faces three years in prison for ‘Islamophobic’ statements

Father Custodio Ballester’s words are completely true:

“This renewed revival of Christian-Muslim dialogue, paralyzed by the alleged ‘imprudence’ of the beloved Benedict XVI, is far from a reality. Islam does not allow for dialogue. You either believe or you are an infidel who must be subdued one way or another.”

For these words, he was regarded as an committing an “offense” to Islam and is thus guilty of “Islamophobia.” He is now facing prison, just as he would in a Sharia-adherent country. Truth-tellers have been warning about the creeping Sharia for decades, and the mainstream media made them out to be hateful “Islamophobes” who were exaggerating. Now that a priest may be jailed in a Western country for offending Islam, this should be a wakeup call, but it won’t be. If jihad attacks, Muslim rape gangs and the magnitude of pro-Hamas support and the hijacking of campuses weren’t wakeup calls, the imprisonment of a priest will largely be ignored.

The window is closing in for the West to fight back against this jihadist (both stealthy and violent) takeover of their countries. It isn’t just Israel that faces jihad threat. It is also the West, and the jihad is expanding rapidly across Africa.

Freedom of speech and religion in Spain is in play as Father Custodio Ballester faces a possible three-year prison sentence and fines after a trial this week found him guilty of making allegedly “Islamophobic” statements in print and in an interview.

Questioned by CNA about his upcoming sentencing, Ballester said: “The survival of freedom of expression in today’s Spain depends on the ruling in this case. Otherwise, we’ll be headed toward a new Cuban dictatorship. One where you were arrested for what you said as well as for what you thought, if it differed from what [Cuban communist dictator] Fidel Castro decided.”

Ballester and two others, fellow priest Father Jesús Calvo and journalist Armando Robles, were accused of making allegedly Islamophobic statements in complaints filed before Spain’s socialist government by the Association of Spanish Muslims Against Islamophobia. On Oct. 1, those complaints were examined for several hours at the Provincial Court of Málaga.

Ballester told CNA that his “statements have never been discriminatory or hateful,” in reference to an interview he gave in 2017 to online talk show “La Ratonera” and previous writings.

Speaking to the media after exiting the court, the priest said he is calm, adding: “This is the final hearing, and now we are awaiting the result.”

He told CNA: “In the Spanish army’s special forces, we used to say: ‘Prepare for the worst. The easy stuff has already been planned for.’ That’s why I’m calm. If everything goes well, I’ll be even happier.”

The case against Ballester and his co-defendants has sparked considerable debate in Spain and Europe over its perceived threat to free speech and claims that hate-crime laws are selectively applied….

  3. In approximately the year 700 A.D., Spain was under Muslim rule. It wasn’t until 1492, that Spain rid itself of Muslims. Spain better watch out because 700 years is a very long time to be invaded by Muslims.

Imams in western Europe can call for killing Jews in Europe and the Middle East ,but a Catholic priest who made a statement from the article back in 2017 that was critical of Islam faces up to 3 years in jail? If anyone in western Europe wanted to say negative things about the Catholic church true facts or lies they would not and should not face any jail time. Why are the governments in western Europe making Islam a special protected religion free for anyone questioning it motives ,laws ,and violent aversion to following western cultural and laws? Thank God America has the first amendment ,what does the newest woke Pope have to say about someone who spreads the good news peaceful facing up to three years in lock up??

    • The old, now deceased ‘pope’ had more than his share of bad things to say about Christians and no one threatened him with prison time. He called the war against hamas which the Jews are fighting for survival a ‘genocide’ and no one threatened him with prison.
      His good buddies ….the head cheese muzzie in Egypt, being one….can say anything they want about Christians and Jews, and it’s said to be ‘free speech.’
      What is happening regarding speech…Truth spoken….against islime is evil and we all here, are aware that the muzzies are not being treated equally. They are free to say any and all things they choose without fear of punishment.
      Not so with many peoples in many places who want the Truth of islime to be published.

  11. I am from Spain. We are not cowards. I work in a very heavy control place by leftists and Muslims. Muslims have now become the power over the leftists. They are like a moral force the socialists submit to them in groups.

    Since October 7, everything has changed. Palestine flags are all over our work. And we are forced to sign some papers for Palestine’s and denounce Israel. Yes we are forced by Islamic Union members. They tie the union into their Islamic global goals.

    Nobody dares question them. They have a praying space here, and it’s an excuse to not work. We don’t know what’s going on in there.

    I don’t know what otherwise to call this than the creepy sharia they say things about.

      • I doubt this because the company has to fire you. And the company is really not comfortable with all of this Gaza propaganda. It is hard to explain how strong the unions are and how relates into politics. But the company is separate.

        But the union will mess with you and push you away if you are Israel person in the open and trying to say so or disagree with them. If you are a Christian conservative, we usually are left alone if we don’t make any speeches or debates about any topics they don’t approve. They said we are obligated to go to the protest. We said no, f- – – you Fulani, this is too much. Nobody fired us.

        The Muslims bangladeshers, fulanis, Pakistan, maghrebis are in the union heavy. But their number is strong because they are ally of leftists, work together. These are all the ones that came in with papers for employees to lobby the government to recognize Palestine. They were strong and aggressive with us to sign. Other groups, they went home to home. Listen to this. A Serbian man I know, NOT a citizen, they pushed his door open BY FORCE and did a hostile invasion into his home and made him to sign the signature.

        But at work, managers of the company does not want to touch this issue. They want to make money and maybe positions make the workers go crazy and strike, so they turn their eye away. they would not fire us because the good workers are us! You cannot fake good work!

        The Muslims and communists will make your life hard if you don’t sign. Scratch your vehicle, make a flat tire, which I have seen. But management knows well who the productive workers are they do not fall for these tricks. In socialist Catalonia, the union attacks you, and the company saves you. Welcome to 1984. If you are bad workers, troublemakers, opposite is true, you are union super heroes against capitalist oppression vs class traitor. Company has many bad guys here, and desperately KEEP good workers. Muslim always falls and goes home for “disabilities”one year. Somehow never us falling…

        We are not many, and problem is, the union must also hire you not only the company. So now, these union Muslims they can smell you if you are a conservative and you will not get the job anymore…. Company hired you, but the union says no…. We want another guy…. Oh Muslim! Yes…High odds for him. It is like a game for the company to sneak in a good workers, and the union to find a stupid poppet. Everyone has agendas. To win the job, you must look like good workers to a company interview, and then you transform your self into a Palestine rioter-loser-communist to the union interview. Put a Palestine pin, no cross necklace, or just say some radical things. This are the tricks now.

        I don’t know where this is going, everythings changing. They are doing propaganda against Trump, Hungary, Modi and India and other “weird”things that have nothing to do with work. This is bigger than you think, they go to global conferences, meeting with Islamists, communists, other unions. And these things filter down to your factory floors.

    Here are the kinds of serious crimes that garner three-year prison sentences in Spain:

    “In Spain, a three-year prison term is the maximum for the basic form of the crime of causing injury that requires medical treatment but not necessarily surgical intervention. It can also apply to sexual abuse involving adults, lesser forms of mutilation, and certain instances of threats and intimidation.”
