A rare victory for the freedom of speech in shattered, staggering, dhimmi Britain. Apparently the Starmer government thought the political cost would be too high in today’s tense environment to convict Coskun. But this should not be taken as a change of direction in the pro-Sharia authoritarian state that Britain is rapidly becoming.
“Man found guilty after burning Koran outside Turkish embassy wins appeal as campaigners hail ‘victory for free speech,'” by Isabelle Parkin, GB News, October 10, 2025:
A man who burned a Koran outside the Turkish consulate in London has won an appeal against his conviction.
Hamit Coskun was found guilty earlier this year of a religiously aggravated public order offence after shouting “f*** Islam” while holding the flaming religious text aloft outside the Turkish consulate in England’s capital city in February.
Before travelling to London, the 51-year-old wrote posts on social media detailing his plan and saying it was to “protest the Islamist government” of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, whom he claimed “has made Turkey a base for radical Islamists and is trying to establish a Sharia regime”, the court previously heard….

That’s one smart judge that doesn’t want to block every excuse for claiming he’s been on the right side pun intended when it kicks off.

And what happened to the animal who knifed him?
Mass burning of terror training manuals on Nov 5th. A Moohamid instead of a Guy on the bonfire.
Should be done all across the country as with the flags recently.
Keep the police busy. They have threatened many in the past for just that, even on private land.
Westman says
“And what happened to the animal who knifed him?”
He was convicted then, unbelievably, released on probation, no prison time. This an unmistakable positive bias toward Islam to avoid claims of “Islamophobia”.
So, criminal record, no time. It would affect his employment opportunities yet it left a Muslim potential killer loose, likely more angry, to attempt more violence.
Hamit Coskun, the man who burned the Quran, may not be out of danger.

I *wish* this dhimmitude was unbelievable–but these days it is not…

The justice system like everything else in the UK, is run by islamo-leftists.

Man bites dog: Man who was found guilty in UK of ‘religiously aggravated’ offense for burning Qur’an wins appeal

Finally, a bit of good news.

Oh don’t get excited over this and start thinking justice is returning to Britain !
One commentator on x claims this will not stop the police arresting folk who burn Qur’ans and they will still be thrown into prison and get beaten up by Muslims in there, before their individual sentences are overturned and they get released.
I think he is correct. ” The punishment is in the process”. This is what has happened to Tommy Robinson time and time again.
This court decision will be ignored.
Recently Robert Jenrick Conservative MP ( who accompanied Coskin to court) has recently discovered that at least 30 Human Rights Judges are “open boarders” left wing activists.
And so is Lord Hamer the senior Jusice minister.
And the Home Secretary is a Muslim.
What the Coskun case shows is that the charge sgainst him was a distortion and manipulation of the Public Order Act 1986 just to get him with something to appease Muslims. Section 29J of the same Act is supposed to protect right to criticise, ridiicule and even insult reilgions for sake of freedom of speech.
Coskun should not have even been charged with such an offence – which is designed to protect persons not religions and how could it have been “racially” aggravated in the first place?
But fear not. The new “Islamophobia” law waiting in the wings will be perfectly suited for use to outlaw blasphemy.
It’s just a question of changing the wrapper.
The Game is not over.
Starmer’s Government is totally corrupt.
They are answerable only to themselves.

Finally a win for the good guys.

Apparently, the whole ruling can be found here.
Rex v Hamit Coskun
Judgement on appeal
Southwark Crown Court
Hearing on 9th and 10th October 2025
https://www.judiciary.uk/wp-content/uploads/2025/10/Rex-v-Hamit-Coskun.pdf
A few snippets of wisdom from this judgement :
1. This case is about the appeal of an individual appellant against his conviction of
an offence under section 5 of the Public Order Act 1986 (“section 5”). It must turn
on the facts of his particular case. There are, however, some important matters of
principle which are central to our decision so we begin our judgement by setting
them out. It would be presumptuous of us, sitting as a court of second instance,
to purport to make new law and we do not do so: What follows are clear and wellestablished propositions in the law of England and Wales.
2. There is no offence of blasphemy in our law. Burning a Koran may be an act that
many Muslims find desperately upsetting and offensive. The criminal law,
however, is not a mechanism that seeks to avoid people being upset, even
grievously upset. The right to freedom of expression, if it is a right worth having,
must include the right to express views that offend, shock or disturb.
3. We live in a liberal democracy. One of the precious rights that affords us is to
express our own views and read, hear and consider ideas without the state
intervening to stop us doing so. The price we pay for that is having to allow others
to exercise the same rights, even if that upsets, offends or shocks us.
Eddie says
I commented above, correctly, that the law in this instance had been distorted and misapplied.
I won’t repeat it all here but I don’t believe this decision will make any difference. Offend Islam in the UK and the State will come after you.
This Court ruling reaffirming the principles of freedom to express views which ” offend shock and disturb” is absolutely correct – but I am willing to bet this case will be ignored.
People will still be arrested for offending muslims and Islam , will still go to prison even their conviction is overturned months later.
The real truth is that in a country which arrests more citizens for social media posts than Russia or China is NOT, as this Judge claims “a Liberal democracy’
