Kevin Roberts of Heritage Defends Tucker Carlson, Who Defends Nick Fuentes

Nick Fuentes is an admirer of Hitler and a Holocaust denier. Tucker Carlson is an antisemitic former Fox News pundit who was fired by the network and now has his own online talk show. Kevin Roberts, the president of the Heritage Foundation, a leading conservative think tank, has just defended Tucker Carlson against those critics appalled at his sympathetic interview with Fuentes, and said the foundation would not cut ties with him.

The president of the Heritage Foundation, the leading conservative think tank, defended right-wing pundit Tucker Carlson and said the group would not cut ties with him days after Carlson hosted an interview with antisemitic influencer Nick Fuentes.

Kevin Roberts also said in a video on the social network X that “antisemitism should be condemned,” but that Christians should reject calls to not criticize Israel. He said that those condemning Carlson, a former Fox News host who now has an online talk show, are a “venomous coalition” of “bad actors,” and that conservatives should further refrain from “canceling” Fuentes.

“We will always defend truth, we will always defend America and we will always defend our friends against the slander of bad actors who serve someone else’s agenda,” Roberts said. “That includes Tucker Carlson, who remains, and, as I have said before, always will be, a close friend of the Heritage Foundation.”

He warned Carlson’s critics: “Their attempt to cancel him will fail.”

Roberts added that calls urging conservatives to reflexively support Israel come from a “globalist class” with influence in Washington, using language some say plays into antisemitic stereotypes.

“When it serves the interests of the United States to cooperate with Israel and other allies, we should do so, with partnerships on security, intelligence and technology,” he said. “But when it doesn’t, conservatives should feel no obligation to reflexively support any foreign government, no matter how loud the pressure becomes from the globalist class or from their mouthpieces in Washington.”

So far, there have been no signs that Roberts, and therefore the Heritage Foundation that he directs, has distanced himself in the slightest from Tucker Carlson, whom he insists “will always be a close friend of the Heritage Foundation.” To date, Roberts is not distancing himself, as the President of the Heritage Foundation, from the pro-Hitler Holocaust denier Nick Fuentes, either. Instead, he has reaffirmed his support for Tucker Carlson and defended his providing a platform for the Holocaust-denying Fuentes. Many conservatives have been outraged.

There is only one way forward for the Heritage Foundation — only one way to retain both the political influence it has enjoyed, and the financial support of many of its donors — and that is to get rid of Roberts. His departure can’t come fast enough.

  2. I’m embarrassed by Robert’s defense of these 2 idiots. There should be no support for their lies and propaganda.

    • Free speech be damned, right Rick? Why not simply call out Carlson for his BS regarding the issue instead of cancelling him outright. But then again, I’m reminded that the people who contribute to Jihad Watch are every bit as totalitarian in nature as the Islamists they claim to oppose.

      • I agree – their accusations ought to be directly debated and debunked. They have a right to say whatever they want – but I don’t like the huge megaphone given to them.

        • Please! Every contributing author on this blog calls out the slightest deviation from refusing to tow the “Israel does no wrong” line of thought. Even criticism of Islam isn’t enough unless one specifically calls for a wholesale ban on practicing the faith in the West, including the US. Exactly how could that could be accomplished short of the complete abandonment of the 1st Amendment doesn’t seem to matter. I’ll tell you this; the Israel absolutism is a priority for a very slim number of Americans, including Republicans. And young conservatives are far more inclined to prioritize the needs of the US over those of any other country, including our allies such as Israel. That’s not antisemitism, that’s simply common sense. Something we haven’t practiced in a very long time.

        • What you state is simply not true. For instance, Robert Spencer himself has never called for a ban on practicing Islam in the West. And I’m with Spencer here as are many others who post here regularly. Islam does not need to be banned, any more than Nazism or Marxism needs to be, only accurately described for the profoundly troubling ideology which it is. Also, I myself have said Israel has been wrong, specifically in being too kind for which it has received little to no credit from the world at large. Try being accurate in your criticisms next time.

No one’s asking for Carlson to be but exposed for his lousy and worse scholarship in the matters of Israel, in the matters of Jew hatred, in the matters of the relationship of those to America and the world. No one wants anything but the honest facts and Carlson has betrayed some basic and simple facts and truths. That is all. Roberts is a dunce if he thinks it’s just an either or situation…

Part of their statement I do agree w/: having lived through the cancel culture of the last few years, I’m not for cancelling anybody, particularly since it also affects where they can bank, eat, stay,…. That was a pretty ugly chapter in our history, and I do hope it’s behind us. If not, Congress needs to pass laws to make this illegal

    Also, I see no reason why one can’t debate the likes of Tucker on his stances. It’s not difficult to prove him wrong, if not change his mind (although he has been a shape-shifter on this: there are several Fox appearances where he did declare his admiration of Israel). I also don’t see why one has to disagree w/ him on 100% of what he says. I, for instance, agree w/ him on globalists as well as on what our policy towards Russia should be (even though of late, Putin seems to be proving the point of Neocons who want everlasting hostility towards Moscow), even though I completely disagree w/ him on Israel, Qatar and Iran

    The other thing about this – I have nothing against those who think that the US should not take sides on the Israel vs the muslims issue (even if that’s not my position): America-First can include America-only, or America-alone, or Monroe-doctriners, and so on. But the thing w/ Tucker, Dave Smith and some others is that they think Israel is our vassal, and we should make them do whatever we want, including things that are destructive to them. That sort of a colonial attitude too is globalist. It’s worth noting that colonialism and globalism are 2 sides of the same coin. In the former, the colonizer was the one calling the shots, erasing all borders to their own advantage. In the latter, everyone else outside the ex-colonizer is calling the shots, to the detriment of their own people. Neither is a win-win situation for everybody.. But if they simply said that we should absolutely not care about what’s going on outside US borders, they’d be just fine

    The other thing too many people have been wowed over is this new mantra – “peace”, as though wrongs not righted is an acceptable situation. It was wrong of us to force a ceasefire on Israel, rather than allow them to wipe out Gaza if needed, and it was wrong of us to force one on India, rather than allow them to neutralize Pakistan’s military completely so that they’re no longer a terror threat to India. They can’t claim to be against “globalism”, and then interfere in wars on the other side of the world where one of the combatants is justified in waging it. Pick a few conflicts to resolve, be it Cambodia-Thailand or Congo-Rwanda, but stay out of the others. What exactly has Armenia gained by its treaty w/ Azerbaijan: have they got any of their own territory back (forgetting Artsakh)?

    So no, I won’t cancel anyone. I’m happy to debate against Tucker, Candace, Megyn Kelly (who Debbie Schlussel accurately once identified as a shape-shifter: Megyn calls it being “Independent”), Posobiec, Gaetz, MTG…. on why their stance on Israel is just asinine

  5. Roberts should resign. What a shame. Defending a “just asking questions” (2024:) promoting Holocaust-seniar Darril Cooper and (2025:) maybe we should have been on Hitler’s side”. What’s next? Defending (la loca) Candace Owen’s dubbed Mrs. MENGELE?

  6. I posted a comment but it hasn’t appeared. I am against canceling people. I am for exposing their substandard knowledge and misuse of that in pursuit of an agenda that then becomes a miserable excuse for Jew hatred, for Israel hatred. If people want to ‘not’ support Israel, I’m okay with their decision- I’m not ok with the bigotry and the made up history of fuentes, and the excuses for all this by Carlson. And the excuses by Roberts to ignore all of that. No canceling, necessary, expose it for what it is and for what it isn’t… no more and no less. And I think Israel should have wiped out Hamas for it’s betrayals, not return 1700 murderers who slaughtered innocents and got paid to do just that by the P.A. Just my opinion- yours may be different.

  9. With these guys it is always the Jews fault. Global warming, traffic gridlock, you name it. Somehow Mossad are behind it. It gets a bit old.
