Iran’s Sharia-based penal code stipulates that “the first occasion” of theft is punishable by the amputation of four fingers from the right hand. This is often ignored in practice, however, and finger amputation performed on repeat offenders. The hardened recidivists get the whole hand chopped off.

Iran has amputated the fingers of a prisoner on alleged theft charges despite the plaintiff’s pardon, Norway-based human rights group Hengaw reported on Friday.
The report said the punishment was carried out on September 30 at Isfahan Central Prison (Dastgerd Prison) against 37-year-old Mohsen Ashiri, also known as Mohsen Lorazbakhsh Falavarjani, a member of the Lor Bakhtiari ethnic minority from Zazran in Isfahan province, central Iran.
Hengaw said Ashiri had been sentenced by an Isfahan court to six months in prison and the amputation of four fingers on his right hand.
He was released after serving his term and posting bail of 10 billion rials (about $8,890), following the plaintiff’s consent.
The court later demanded he post a new bail of 200 trillion rials (about $1.78 million), the report said.
When he failed to pay, the sentence was carried out less than a month after his re-arrest….

Frankly, the creation of Islam and the Muhammad-angel story, by some other names would have occurred, anyway, to create a life plan capable of generating armies and provide “diety” justification for pillaging other societies.
Supposedly, in Islamic lore, Muhammad himself said a purpose for Islam was to stop the common infanticide of Arab babies who were being suffocated in the desert sand due to lack of resources.
Sacking other communities to steal their wealth and gain child-producing sex slaves while at the same time insisting on an increase of children born to the new Muslims was a recipie for wealth and growth.
Now, modern Muslims can demonstrate and claim they are more peaceful today, yet are reminded, like from the brutal acts of Iran, SA(dismemberment ofJamal Khashoggi), and those of ISIS, etc), that this “peacefulness”, where it can be found, is a more recent effect of facing societies that can forcefully destroy Islam. The destruction of the Ottoman Empire seems to be the beginning of “peaceful” Islam.
