Spectrum News 13 in Orlando, Florida has become the latest station to hand a microphone to the Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) — a group the FBI identified as part of Hamas’s U.S. network in the Holy Land Foundation terror financing case.
The station aired CAIR-Florida’s accusation that former Israeli Defense Minister Yoav Gallant is an “indicted war criminal.” There was no fact-check, no Israeli reply, and no mention of CAIR’s ties to Hamas.
A Pattern of Attack and Flattery
This Sarasota segment marks the 49th time in 2025 that CAIR has used television to attack someone or something. (Source: Citizens for Confronting CAIR on Television.) Since 2021, it has targeted the public 233 times, and since 2022, it has appeared on TV over 2,416 times.
Remarkably, all but three or four of those broadcasts have been flattering, portraying CAIR as a civil rights authority rather than as what it is — the American branch of Hamas.
Incitement and Silence
A Rutgers University Network Contagion Research Institute report found that CAIR’s rhetoric helped trigger the 2022 Colleyville synagogue hostage attack, yet local newsrooms buried that fact.
In the three weeks after the Hamas atrocities of October 7, 2023, CAIR spokespeople appeared on TV over 160 times, without ever condemning Hamas.
Its leader Nihad Awad was caught on camera saying the October 7 invasion made him “happy.” The Biden White House distanced itself from CAIR in response; Awad demanded an apology, and still refuses to denounce Hamas.
Fact Check: What “War Criminal” Means
When CAIR calls Yoav Gallant a “war criminal,” it is referring to a May 2024 International Criminal Court Prosecutor’s request to seek arrest warrants for Israeli and Hamas leaders — not an indictment.
The request remains unapproved, and the United States and its allies condemned it as a politicized attempt to equate terrorism with self-defense.
Turning Remembrance into Accusation
By broadcasting CAIR’s talking points, Spectrum 13 let a Hamas-linked organization turn a memorial for the victims of October 7 into an accusation against Israel — moral inversion disguised as advocacy.
Except for a handful of rare exceptions — perhaps three or four segments out of 2,416 — American television coverage of CAIR has been unfailingly flattering. That is not reporting; it is repetition. Until newsrooms learn to apply basic scrutiny, CAIR will keep doing what it has done for years: using television to attack its critics and perceived foes, and shield Hamas from blame.

Marco Rubio and Senator Tom Cotton have called for an IRS investigation of CAIR. Not sure how this is going.

CAIR also has opened their own media online. That needs to be checked out, too. They are a fifth column of enemies in the US! I wouldn’t doubt it if they had a hand in Charlie Kirk’s assassination.
