When Congressman Josh Gottheimer (D-New Jersey) announced new bipartisan legislation to ensure that American students learn the facts about Hamas’s October 7 massacre, one might expect any organization that claims to oppose bigotry to support it. But instead, the New Jersey chapter of the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) lashed out, accusing Gottheimer and “the Zionist lobby” of “desperation” and attempting to “rewrite history.”
The bill, entitled the October 7th Remembrance Education Act, would direct the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum to develop a model curriculum for teaching about the Hamas atrocities and the antisemitism that fueled them. It was introduced at the Jewish Federation of Northern New Jersey ahead of the one-year anniversary of the attacks.
For Congressman Gottheimer and other sponsors, the goal is simple: ensure that students learn what happened from factual sources, not social media distortion.
But CAIR saw something sinister. In a statement that WPIX-TV (New York) aired, CAIR-NJ declared:
It’s a move of desperation. Young people in America, from public schools to universities, have shown their unequivocal support for Palestine. Congressman Gottheimer and the Zionist lobby know the shift in public opinion is happening in real time and are doing everything they can to stop it. They cannot and will not rewrite history.
That’s not an argument. It’s an attack on Jewish education itself.
CAIR didn’t express a word of empathy for the 1,200 Israelis whom Hamas murdered, or for the women who were raped, the babies who were burned, or the families that are still missing. Instead, it derided a Holocaust Museum-led educational initiative as “Zionist propaganda,” and bragged that “young people” have already chosen sides.
Once again, when faced with a choice between standing in solidarity with their Jewish brothers and sisters or doubling down on political hostility, CAIR chose hostility.
This is part of a long pattern. Over the years, CAIR has:
- Defended Hamas-linked charities and condemned Israel’s counterterrorism operations rather than Hamas’s terrorism.
- Claimed that vandalism of a religious institution for flying an Israeli flag was “free speech.”
- Refused to acknowledge the October 7 massacre as terrorism, instead calling it a “response to occupation.”
Now, even an effort to ensure that schoolchildren learn the truth about October 7 — under the auspices of the U.S. Holocaust Memorial Museum — is treated as a Zionist plot to be resisted.
The entire Palestinian cause, as Hamas has articulated it and CAIR has echoed that articulation, has become an inversion of morality and reality. Like a satanic black mass, everything is backwards. Israel is accused of genocide, when genocide is what Hamas attempted on October 7. Israel is accused of starvation, when it is Hamas that is starving its hostages. Israel is accused of coveting “Palestinian land,” when it is they who covet and seize the property of others. And now, the American branch of Hamas accuses “Zionists” of rewriting history — when rewriting history is precisely what they have always done.
CAIR’s reaction exposes what it really is: not a civil rights group, but a political pressure machine so consumed with grievance that it cannot acknowledge Jewish suffering even in the face of atrocity.
If CAIR truly wanted coexistence or mutual understanding, it would welcome this initiative as a chance to teach compassion and historical truth.
Instead, it spits contempt at the idea of remembrance — and thereby tells us everything we need to know.

Then on October, there was those horrific murders by the jihadists of Hamas at a music festival in the State of Israel on October 7, 2023 in which 260 young people had been viciously murdered by those jihadists, who also committed many other many other Islamic atrocities.
Just last year on March 22,th. on the outskirts of Moscow at another music concert there were more jihadists shootings and mass murders in which 137 people had killed by Muslim terrorists of ISIS in their jihad and at least 145 more people had been harmed.
