This time, it was in France, in the mediagenic and normally placid commune of Yerres, where the painter Gustave Caillebotte once lived. Gilles Cohen was returning on a Saturday from a mikveh, a Jewish ritual bath. From behind someone assaulted him, and then hit him hard in the face near his eye, shouting curses at him, as he rifled for money and a key to the synagogue. Why did the assailant want the key? To vandalize, to steal from, possibly to set fire to the Jewish house of worship. A 67-year-old Jewish man was assaulted in the French town of Yerres (Essonne) on Saturday morning, local media reported on Sunday evening.
According to reports, Gilles Cohen, who was wearing a kippah, was on his way back from the mikveh when he was ambushed from behind and beaten.
The attacker shouted “Dirty Jew, we will kill you!” before searching Cohen in an attempt to “find money and the keys to the synagogue.”
The Évry prosecutor’s office told TF1-LCI that a passerby intervened and rescued Cohen.

It’s good to see Antoine Léaument, an MP from the far-left party La France Insoumise (LFI), that has so often been involved in protests against Israel, making clear his sympathies for Gilles Cohen, and his outrage at the “antisemitic motive” of his attacker.
It’s been quite an epidemic, these murderous attacks on French Jews — Ilan Halimi, Mireille Knoll, Sarah Halimi, Rabbi Jonathan Sandler and his two small boys, Myriam Monsonego, the four shoppers at the kosher market, and so many more — and especially on rabbis in a half-dozen cities. In every case so far, the perpetrators have been Muslims, though this is seldom mentioned in the media accounts. But everyone knows this without having to be told. Five million Muslims are now living in France. Five million people who are taught by the Qur’an and hadith to hate the Jews, whom the Qur’an describes as “the strongest in enmity” to the Muslims.
Now we must wait to see if the assailant is found, given a sentence that fits the crime, not a slap on the wrist, but at least a year or two in prison and — most important of all — finds that once he has served his sentence, he will be promptly deported to his country of origin.

Rabbi Zvi Kogan was murdered in Dubai late last year, and Jewish children are harassed in the schools. Israel and US warn Jews about traveling to Dubai, as do both Israel ad the US re Bahrain (although this is for all Americans, not just Jews).
Big Dude–with all respect–your idea that Jews have to live under Shari’ah law is mistaken.
And none of us are safer if France–and all of Europe–fall to Islam.

The travel warning is perfectly justified: just b’cos the royals in Manama or Abu Dhabi signed agreements w/ Israel doesn’t mean that the views of their populations have changed overnight. That said, I do agree w/ Big Dude that those countries are probably safer for Jews than mainland Europe
