He didn’t say why, but I think I know. Christine Douglass-Williams wrote about the latest from the mercurial president here, and here is more: “Trump: I will not allow Israel to annex Judea and Samaria,” by Elad Benari, Israel National News,
US President Donald Trump stressed in a conversation with reporters on Thursday that he will “not allow” Israel to apply sovereignty over Judea and Samaria.
“I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. No, I will not allow it. It’s not going to happen,” Trump replied firmly when asked by a reporter about the issue.
Asked whether he spoke about it with Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu about this, Trump responded, “Yeah, but I’m not going to allow it, whether I spoke to him or not. I did, but I’m not allowing Israel to annex the West Bank. There’s been enough. It’s time to stop now.”
Are you shocked? Of course you are. Here he was, Donald J. Trump, the man who moved the American Embassy in Israel to Jerusalem, recognized Israel’s annexation of the Golan Heights, and has had his diplomats at the U.N. General Assembly defend Israel, and at the Security Council, veto the endless series of anti-Israel resolutions. But Donald J. Trump always likes to keep us guessing. In fact, he likes to keep himself guessing, because you often have the feeling he has no idea what he’s going to say next, and whether he means what he says, or possibly is just sending up a trial balloon to see what the reaction will be, in order to determine his next move. He’s erratic. But we know that there are two steadfast stars in his firmament: Money, and Golf.
The day before making his announcement that he “won’t allow” Israel to “annex the West Bank,” Donald J. Trump had a meeting with representatives from eight Arab and Muslim states: Egypt, Indonesia, Jordan, Pakistan, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, Turkey and the United Arab Emirates, where he listened to complaints about Israel, and was urged to put a stop to any Israeli “annexation of the West Bank.” No doubt that was enough to persuade him to publicly call for exactly that: “I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. No, I will not allow it. It’s not going to happen.”
Why is that? Let’s start with Saudi Arabia.
Just this May, Saudi Arabia agreed to invest $600 billion in America. In 2023 Saudi Arabia’s sovereign investment fund put two billion dollars into Affinity Partners, an investment firm that Jared Kushner, Trump’s son-in-law, runs.
While the Saudi government has not directly invested in Donald Trump’s personal companies, significant financial connections exist through licensing agreements and investments in companies that his family members lead. This includes direct payments from a Saudi real estate developer to the Trump Organization. The Trump Organization has received licensing fees from a Saudi real estate developer, Dar Al Arkan, who paid the Trump Organization over $27 million in licensing fees for projects in Dubai and Oman between 2021 and 2024. The payments were for branding rights on properties, including a hotel, a golf club, and a villa complex.
As of September 2025, there is a Trump-branded golf course under development in Saudi Arabia, which is part of a larger relationship between the Trump Organization and entities in the Middle East. The partnership is with Dar Global, a London-based company with ties to Saudi Arabia.
In Qatar, the Trump Organization in April signed a deal to build a three-billion dollar luxury golf resort, with an 18-hole championship course.
In Turkey, Trump does not own any properties, but the Trump Organization licenses his name for the Trump Towers Istanbul complex. This is a branding and licensing deal, not a property ownership arrangement. However, now that Trump has agreed to let Turkey buy a squadron of F-35s, I have a feeling that there will soon be a Trump International Golf Resort under development on the outskirts of Istanbul.
In Dubai, the Trump Organization already has a golfing foothold in the region with Dubai’s Trump International Golf Club, which opened during Trump’s first term, in 2017. It was inaugurated by Eric Trump and Donald Trump, Jr. but is owned by — can you guess? — Donald J. Trump. And also in Dubai, the Trump Organization has under development a residential and hotel project, Trump International Hotel & Tower.
In Oman, The Trump Organization is also behind the much-anticipated $500 million Trump International Oman, a luxury golf resort that is still under development.
In Indonesia, there is now both a Trump International Resort & Golf Club, Bali, and Trump Residences & Golf Club, Lido, West Java.
But enough about golf clubs and luxury resorts. Need I remind you that in just the last month, the United Arab Emirates invested two billion dollars in the Trump Family’s cryptocurrency company?
And let’s not forget the $400 million plane, a Boeing 747 that is a gift from Qatar, which Trump intends to sell and use the proceeds to help build his presidential library.
Now you understand why, soon after meeting with representatives of Saudi Arabia, the UAE (which includes Dubai), Qatar, Oman, Turkey, and Indonesia, all countries where Donald J. Trump and his sons have been doing business bigly, Donald J. Trump might have been moved to declare that “I will not allow Israel to annex the West Bank. No, I will not allow it. It’s not going to happen.”

As we know, our leaders including Trump are corrupted by Muslim money and influence against all Non-Muslims as needed to help Islam’s Muslims gain more political power and control as taught in Islam’s Quran(Quran 9:5, 29, 111, etc.). Islam is deceitful, hateful, and corruptive.
ISLAM IS ANTICHRIST, AHISTORICAL, FALLACIOUS, DECEITFUL, AND POLITICAL against the USA Constitution and Western Laws to conquer and to subjugate Non-Muslims using a MUSLIM-TERRORIST-CRIMINAL-GANG ENTERPRISE with ISLAMIC LAW(SHARIA) and with CONTINUOUS, TERROR PROPAGANDA from Islam’s Quran to make Islam supreme(Quran 3:28, 54; 7:99; 8:30, 16:106, etc.). Moreover, Islam is a delusional fraud because there is NO MECCA, NO MUHAMMAD, and NO QURAN in the 7th century AD in Saudi Arabia despite the Muslim Standard Islamic Narrative(SIN) claims; the Deceitful House of Islam is founded on propaganda, lies, and deceit where Islam’s 1400-year traditions are based on fallacy and myth including a more than 300-year gap with no documented history. Hence, NEVER give money to Islamic Countries, Islamic Organizations, Mosques, Islamic Schools, etc. because your are funding your ultimate destruction.
Muslims are to be terrorists for Allah. Allah in Qur’an 49:15 teaches, “Surely the believers[Muslims] are only those who believed in Allah and his messenger. They do not doubt, and they performed jihad with their MONEY and their LIVES for the sake of Allah. Those are the truthful.” Again, Islam is a FACTITIOUS IDEOLOGY and CRIMINAL ORGANIZATION despicably fabricated over time into the 21sth century, and there is NO PEACE only genocidal obliteration with Islam and its deceitful Muslims(Quran 8:39: 9:5, 29, 111, etc.). Allah in Quran 4:101 says, “…Surely the infidels[Non-Muslims] were your clear enemies.” MUSLIM BELIEVERS are a greater TERROR than Allah. Allah in Qur’an 59:13 says, “You[Muslims] are a greater terror in their chests than Allah. This is because they[Jews & Christians] are people who do not understand.”
Islam, its Mosques, its Schools, its Organizations, etc. are Terrorist-Criminal Enterprises with hatred and enmity against all Non-Muslims as totalitarian Islam islamizes the society with impunity(Quran 5:14; 9:5, 29, 111, etc.). As taught from Islam’s Quran, Islam should be banned for its incitement, funding, and promotion of violence, terrorism, hatred, human trafficking, and discrimination against women, children, and Non-Muslims.
Allah stirs hatred against Christians until the resurrection day when Quran 5:14 instructs, “And some of those who say, ‘Surely we are Nasara (Christians),’ we took their covenant. So they have forgotten a part of what they were reminded of, so we have stirred up ENMITY and HATRED among them until the resurrection day. And Allah will inform them of what they were doing.” MUSLIM BELIEVERS are a greater TERROR than Allah. Allah in Qur’an 59:13 says, “You[Muslims] are a greater terror in their chests than Allah. This is because they[Jews & Christians] are people who do not understand.”

Perfect, I agree with you 100%. Now, how can we convinced Trump to change his lie?
dumbledoresarmy says
Disappointing, VERY.
The “jihad of the purse” in action.. I wonder just how many OTHER non-Muslim (whether western or non-western) politicians, influencers, diplomats and, of course, businessmen and financiers, not to mention, alas, religious leaders and scholars, have been corrupted by petrodollars and smiling, lying mohammedan flatterers? And those not corrupted by bribes, corrupted by other means… think, blackmail…threats… all the methods used by the mafiosi, but writ large.
No way would someone like John Quincy Adams have accepted a bribe of any size, great or small, from some smiling, lying, greasily flattering mohammedan.
America .. and not only America!! …needs people in power – and in business, and in academia – with the courage and clearheadedness to say NO, NO, and again NO to mohammedan bribes; people proof against smiles and wiles. Because such bribes always, always, ALWAYS come with strings attached.
And with personal integrity sufficient that no blackmailer / seducer can get a grip on them.

Let’s see what happens. Trump is a strategist and dealmaker, “demanding” outrageous terms from the offset and then backing off to what he really wanted all along so what looks like it was a concession on his part was just his plan all along. When Israel does annex Judea and Samaria and Muslim leaders besiege the Oval Office with calls, Trump can respond that he had told Israel not to do that, and he will look into it most urgently and will continue to “look into it” forever….

Politics, economics and diplomacy are a complicated brew.
When I look at the topography of Judea & Samaria at the edge of Israel,
there’s no realistic way Israel can survive that elevation over them
being under Islamic control. Just like the Golan Heights.

Yes, John Adams, John Quincy Adams, and Thomas Jefferson were the “Robert Spencers” of their era, and had Islam pretty well figured out. They told it like it is and didn’t whitewash it with any political correctness.
Of course, as you know, for the first 39 years of our country’s existence, we had severe problems with the Ummah. Read what John Q. Adams, Thomas Jefferson, and James Madison had to say about it.
From 1776, the Barbary Muslims raided our commercial shipping, looting the cargo, kidnapping and demanding ransom for the crews, or enslaving the crews altogether. The US Government for the first 25 years paid annual “Tribute” money to the Ummah that equaled 20% of our National budget.
Up to that point, America had no Navy. That’s why Jefferson started our Navy – to protect US commercial shipping against the Ummah. Americans were tired of getting ripped off with the Tribute money. For the same amount we were spending in Jizya, we could build and maintain a Navy, which is what we did.
Then came a series of wars we fought against the Ummah from 1801 – 1815.
But even today, American shipping is harassed by Muslim pirates.

Mr. Fitzgerald,
This is all good information, and I for one will include it (to some extent) in my evaluation of Donald Trump as President.
However, at this point I think we seem to be in a binary position vis-a-vis our Presidents, and our political parties. On the one hand, we have Obama and Biden, especially the latter, who have been absolutely catastrophic for our country. On the other hand we have Trump, whose “instincts” I believe are in general good for the United States and (not coincidentally) good also Israel.
So, yes, Trump may be all about money and golf, but… I’ll stick with him. The alternatives are just too godawful to contemplate.
Patrick says
If Israel is going to win this war of terrorism (Hamas) and obtain lasting peace, Israel must acquire ALL OF ISRAEL. Too many peace treaties and giving up of territory over time has gotten them nowhere, except to give up more land and still be attacked. Get rid of Islam/Muslims/Arab Muslims and you get rid of terrorism locally!

Ya, like Saudi Arabia is going to invest billion$ in America, for what, construction of more mosques of course? Lets face the facts, does Trump have a Muslim son-in-law in Boulos, is he a Muslim or isn’t he? If he is Muslim has he told the Trump family? Is he hiding his Islamic roots to favor himself in the family, voice a bias toward Islamic interests? What the hell is really going on in the Trump family?
PMK says
I’m confused. Why should Israel need to ‘annex’ the West Bank? It was part of Israel in 1948 and it was seized by Jordan. Jordan illegally occupied it for nineteen years and Israel regained control in 1967. When did Israel renounce all claims to the West Bank? For that matter, even though Israel removed its citizens from Gaza, when did Israel give up any and all claims to Gaza? Israel has offered to divest itself of these lands several times but those offers have been rejected by the other side. Contrast that with Egypt. Israel captured the Sinai but returned it to Egypt as part of a peace treaty. So, exactly when did Israel give up all claims to Gaza and the West Bank?
Hugh Fitzgerald says

Excellent investigative work Hugh. Thanks for the sunlight and informative sitrep.
This is much worse than I ever imagined it would be back in early ’24, when DeSantis was still in the race. But this is what I was afraid of and is the exact reason I supported DeSantis, who I hope will run again in ’28. Personally, I think experience wearing America’s uniform, especially with combat experience, is indispensable for the CINC post.
Vance and Rubio are fine patriotic men, but they are beholden to Trump and will continue being deferential to his policies if they go on to the POTUS/CINC post themselves. DeSantis is in no way owned by Trump, and as a man who’s a 20+ year military officer, I have confidence he will serve God & Country, and nothing else.

James Lincoln says
Daniel,
Excellent points.
Perhaps Pres. Trump – as unpredictable as he sometimes can be – is “posturing”, hoping to set a tripwire “trap” for the so-called “Palestinians” if they try to pull anything. In other words, Israel promising to not annex Judea and Samaria could be conditional – and rescinded after just one jihad attack.
But I don’t think so…
Daniel Triplett says
You have a plausible theory James. There are many great insights here in Hugh’s report, and from many commenters in this thread. Westpacwill up above, for example, makes a plausible realistic theory too.
I hope you guys are right, and this is some sort of “Art of the Deal” 3-D chess going on, but Hugh has really thrown some ncessary cold water onto my face about DJT, dissolving the cognitive dissonance impairing my perspective about him.
As Hugh has well explained, Trump has many Billions of dollars invested inside Dar al-Islam and his relationships with Muslims. I just don’t see him pulling some kind of bait-and-switch jiu-jitsu on the Ummah, risking a devaluation or total loss on all his Dar al-Islam properties and brand.
I don’t doubt his genuine love and devotion for America. I don’t think he’d knowingly and wilfully harm us. Rather, I think he’s just naive and perilously Dunning-Kruger about Islam, and he’s overly confident that his successes with commerce and deal-making in the past will yield the same results with his foreign policy with Muslim actors.
I think you and I likely know more about Islam than he, which is frightening because I know very little, and he’s the one with all the power to steer our destiny. And there’s absolutely no excuse for his Islamic illiteracy, considering he has the entire US Intel apparatus at his fingertips and command.
Further, as we know from the Pew Research survey I posted here a couple weeks ago, about the only friends Israel has in the world are 70% of the US Republican party. The Israelis walk a precarious tightrope indeed, so they must be careful about what they say and how they say it so as not to damage that existential relationship. But when I listen to Netanyahu here, and study his nonverbal cues, I’m not seeing much confidence from him with Trump’s grand Dunning-Kruger “21-point plan” to end the Jihad and make everyone kumbaya happy:

Exactly Tgusa, “never let your enemy know what you know.” Trump knows more about Islam than he’s letting on, he’s just holding his cards close to his chest. When he was first in office he was far more outspoken about islam, even proposing a ban on muslims from entering the country. He also once said, “I think islam hates us.” and then there was the snake poem he would recite. He knows about alright, make no mistake about that.
