Under Prime Minister Anthony Albanese, Australia has undone its formerly close friendship with Israel and chosen, lemming-like, to join others (Canada, France, the U.K.) in a rush to recognize a “state of Palestine,” a move that the terror group Hamas has greeted with relief and joy, seeing this recognition as a vindication for its attack — its atrocities — carried out on October 7, 2023, with rapes, tortures, mutilations, and murders of 1,200 people. Israel, of course, is furious with this betrayal by countries that had long been its allies, and which Israel has supplied with important intelligence on Islamic terrorists, for those countries — the U.K., Australia, Canada, and France — are fellow members of the Western civilization that is now under assault by the forces of Islam.

Australia would reverse its decision on Palestinian state recognition if there is a change of government in Australia, the country’s Opposition Leader and Liberal Party head, Sussan Ley, told Israeli Foreign Minister Gideon Sa’ar, Sa’ar later revealed in a X/Twitter post on Monday.
Ley, believing that Australia’s decision rewards Hamas, noted her disappointment at “this break with bipartisanship and reiterated the Coalition’s long-held position that recognition must only come at the end of a genuine two-state process,” she wrote, also in a X/Twitter post. “Now is the wrong time while Hamas holds hostages and while conflict still rages.
The Australian official added that she spoke up for the concerns of her country’s Jewish community and the rise of antisemitism, as well as the humanitarian crisis in the Gaza Strip. She then expressed her hope for the remaining 48 hostages in Gaza to be released, as well as for a halt to the fighting….
If Australia after a change of government, with Anthony Albanese of the Labour Party being replaced by Sussan Ley of the Liberal Party, can withdraw its recognition of this “state of Palestine,” then so can the U.K., if Nigel Farage of the Reform Party replaces the hapless Keir Starmer. And in France, should the National Rally, headed by Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, come to power — it currently leads in all the polls — one can expect the same taking back of this misguided gift to Hamas.
Finally - some opposition says
The nominally Right-of-Centre Liberal Party lost the Australian Federal election in May 2025.
The Party’s leader at the time of the election, Peter Dutton, lost his own seat. Sussan Ley, as the new leader of the Liberal Party, has failed to make much impact to date since then.
The announcement by Sussan Ley that the Liberal Party will reverse the recent foolish decision by the ruling Left-of-Centre Labor (sic) Party to recognise Palestine may well be the first courageous policy stance Sussan Ley has taken.
The next Federal election doesn’t have to be held until 2025. So the opportunity to reverse Labor’s policy to recognise a state of Palestine won’t occur for a few years.
But the fact that the Liberal Party is prepared to oppose the Labor Party policy gives hope to millions of disheartened Australian conservative voters, who feared that the Labor Party and Liberal Party had just merged to become a defacto Uniparty.

At least we get to hear a sensible voice, solitary so far, amidst the paroxysm of self-congratulation by the international community of their (conscienceless) recognition of Palestine at a time when such a gesture can only be, and is, seen in the Middle East as a reward for the massacre of October 7th.
Depend on this: if at some time in the future Palestine does come to exist as a country, that country, and probably every one of its Arab neighbors, will be celebrating October 7th as the heroic act of war that brought about Palestinian statehood, for longer than Christian Europe celebrated the anniversary of the Battle of Lepanto.
And if the dream of eradicating the Jewish state does not die, and it won’t, this action by France, Britain, Australia, and Canada will be directly responsible for a Holocaust altogether comparable to the first one. Macron and company might as well take their bows now.

It is a few years before our next election, but I hope do win and change this evil decision by the present far left Labor govt. There is a lot of discontentment among conservatives with Sussan ley, mainly on energy policy, and she is seen as wishy washy and Labor light. Many liberal voters are said to ditching the liberals and going over to supporting the one nation party.

A good lesson can be learned as we watch Britain collapse.
A few million dead and injured, and a newly regnant Islam in Britain could help educate the leaders of tomorrow.
