LT.Col. West should never have been fined and or returned to Fort Hood.
He saved lives, he did not shoot the person but used a warning shot. Simple effective.
West followed his greed, take care of his men.
God Bless Lt. Col. West.

Col. West is an American hero! As you said he saved his men, and I would not have faulted him if he did end up shooting, but not killing the Iraqi he was interrogating. He deserved a medal and a promotion to full bird colonel. Instead of a fine and a trip back to Fort Hood. Sometimes the Army brass can be capricious, but Col . West did the right thing no matter who says otherwise.

A hog pen in clear view of detainees will get you better results than firing a warning shot. They aren’t afraid of death but they sure are afraid of pigs.
OLD GUY says
A warning shot gets you in trouble in our military. Slitting the throat of your enemy in Islam gets you a heroes welcome and bonus. Some difference. Lt. Col. West did what he thought necessary to protect the troops under him at that moment in time. If he saved the lives of the troops under him he did the right thing by firing that warning shot.
