Those wild-eyed, rifle-raising, qat-chewing, allahu-akbaring grim-faced Houthis in Yemen just don’t give up. That’s the best that can be said for them. They have just managed to launch a drone attack on a hotel in Israel’s Red Sea resort of Eilat, wounding 48 people, two of them seriously. Now the IDF has given not as good as it got but far better, with its largest aerial attack yet on the Houthis, requiring Israeli pilots to fly some 2,200 kilometers each way to their targets in the Houthi capital of Sana’a. The IAF undertook its largest and farthest strikes against Yemen’s Houthis on Thursday afternoon in response to recent attacks on Eilat.
Twenty IAF fighter jets flew 2,200 kilometers – some targets in Yemen are “only” 1,800 km. away – and dropped more than 65 munitions, the IDF reported.
In the past, attacks have relied on as many as 50 or as few as 20 munitions.There were seven different targets, including five Houthi military bases and two large weapons storage sites, relating to drones, ballistic missiles, and other items, the IDF said.
This was the IAF’s 15th attack against the Houthis.Defense Minister Israel Katz wrote on X/Twitter: “We have just delivered a powerful strike on numerous terrorist targets of the Houthi terror organization in Sanaa as part of Operation ‘Pass the Parcel.’ As I promised [on Wednesday], those who harm us will be harmed sevenfold.”
Among the targets struck were the Houthis’ General Staff control headquarters, security and intelligence facilities, the headquarters of their military propaganda unit, and other military camps where weapons and personnel were located, the IDF said.
The IDF published videos and photos of the headquarters and military camps that were hit, detailing the impact on the Houthis.
Despite Katz’s statement, 15 prior attacks by Israel, including a recent attack that killed many of the Houthis’ leading civilian cabinet ministers, have failed to deter the Houthis from firing on Israel….
The IAF dropped 65 munitions on seven targets in Sana’a — five military bases and two weapons depots. Among the targets hit were the “General Staff control headquarters, security and intelligence facilities, and the headquarters of their military propaganda unit.” Will this be enough damage to make the Houthis pull in their horns, or are they gluttons for punishment, because if so, the Israeli Air Force will give them exactly what they have been asking for. It’s amazing that while the IDF has bombed Hamas in Gaza, dismantled Hezbollah in Lebanon, destroyed Assad’s mighty arsenal in Syria, and attacked Iran’s nuclear facilities to great effect, the most primitive of its enemies manages to keep launching drones from faraway Yemen into Israel, and despite Israel wiping out many of the Houthis’ weapons depots, their intelligence and propaganda headquarters, their command-and-control centers, their military bases, and twelve of their most senior officials, those Houthis still keep on keeping on. Perhaps this time, after Israel’s Operation Pass The Parcel, they’ll finally take the hint?
