Hamas-linked CAIR Helps Minneapolis Media Turn Vandalism into a Campaign Boost for Omar Fateh

The campaign office of Minnesota State Senator Omar Fateh, who is running for mayor of Minneapolis, was recently vandalized with graffiti reading: “Somali Muslim. This warning is no joke.” The act itself is newsworthy. But local television coverage — from both KARE 11 and WCCO / CBS Minnesota — transformed a small incident into a sweeping narrative of persecution, with Senator Fateh and the Hamas-linked Council on American-Islamic Relations (CAIR) cast as the heroes.

Both stations repeated the Fateh campaign’s claim that his name appeared on the “hit list” of Vance Boelter, the man charged with assassinating Minnesota State House Speaker Melissa Hortman and shooting Minnesota State Senator John Hoffman. KARE 11 quoted Fateh’s campaign manager directly, while WCCO’s online version of the story included the line: “Omar’s name was on Vance Boelter’s list.”

The problem? There is no public evidence that Fateh’s name appears on that list. Neither the Department of Justice, nor the FBI, nor Minnesota prosecutors have confirmed it in official filings. The only source for this claim is Fateh’s own campaign. By repeating it without verification, both KARE and WCCO helped turn vandalism into a campaign narrative of martyrdom.

That narrative is politically useful. Fateh’s mayoral campaign has been mired in controversy. His endorsement from the Democratic Farmer-Labor Party (DFL) was revoked after irregularities at the city convention. A judge found probable cause that his campaign violated state law by continuing to use the DFL logo after the endorsement was pulled (Fox9). KARE 11 has also raised ethics questions about his legislation potentially benefiting his wife’s business. Against that backdrop, vandalism and an unverified “assassination list” claim give Fateh a chance to shift from scandal to sympathy.

The broadcasts also gave the last word to Hamas-linked CAIR. CAIR’s Minnesota director Jaylani Hussein demanded that police investigate the graffiti as a “hate crime.” But this call is not only irrelevant — CAIR has no authority to define crimes — it is also premature. No one has been arrested, and there is no evidence about who wrote the message. For all we know, it could have been staged by someone sympathetic to Fateh’s campaign. Yet the media dutifully echoed CAIR’s framing.

Worse, both Fateh and Hussein have their own long track records of inflammatory rhetoric. Hussein has:

  • Railed against “white people” in broad, hostile terms.

  • Incited against Brooklyn Center officials (police chief, city manager, even the U.S. Marshal).

  • Accused President Biden of genocide and called for a “revolution.”

  • Inflamed tensions in the Kim Potter case and the Jacob Blake incident.

  • Alluded to violence during the Hamline University controversy.

And Fateh himself recently declared that white supremacists are the nation’s biggest terror threat, another sweeping generalization meant to cast “white people” collectively as the enemy.

This is the pairing Minnesota media present as victims of hate and voices of unity.

The pattern is familiar: CAIR and its allies insert themselves into local incidents, recasting them as proof of a national wave of “Islamophobia.” Local media, eager to frame a morality play, hand them the microphone — while leaving out hard questions about opportunism, incitement, and basic fact-checking.

The real story here is not graffiti. It is how opportunistic politicians and Islamic pressure groups exploit minor incidents, and how credulous media outlets help them do it.

    Muslims are terrorists for Allah. Allah in Qur’an 49:15 says, “Surely the believers[Muslims] are only those who believed in Allah and his messenger. They do not doubt, and they performed jihad with their MONEY and their LIVES for the sake of Allah. Those are the truthful.” Allah in Quran 4:101 says, “…Surely the infidels(Non-Muslims) were your clear enemies.”

    MUSLIM BELIEVERS are a greater TERROR than Allah to make Islam supreme. Allah in Qur’an 59:13 says, “You[Muslims] are a greater terror in their chests than Allah. This is because they[Jews & Christians] are people who do not understand.”
