It is disheartening that General David Petraeus, a decorated four-star former general and CIA director would offer a deceiving jihadist such as Ahmed al-Sharaa a platform to double down on an already excessive flood of Islamic propaganda that’s polluting the Western world.
Jihadists have one objective in mind: conquest. Al-Sharaa poses an extreme danger to Israel and he openly balked at the Abraham Accords, making it look as though Israel is the one with suspect regional intentions.
Jihadists have mastered the art of making fools out of what are taken to be sophisticated Westerners. Petraeus even called himself a “fan” of al-Sharaa, taken in by al-Sharaa’s warm handshake, smile, and a suit.
A short reminder about al-Sharaa. His “journey as a jihadist began in Iraq, linked to al-Qaeda through the Islamic State (IS) group’s precursor – al-Qaeda in Iraq and, later, the Islamic State of Iraq (ISI).” He was later introduced to ISIS leader Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, and in 2011, Baghdadi sent him to Syria “with funding to establish al-Nusra Front, a covert faction tied to ISI. By 2012, Nusra had become a prominent Syrian fighting force, hiding its IS and al-Qaeda ties.” To this day, al-Sharaa is hiding who he is.
Even more bizarre:
Sharaa was imprisoned in Iraq by the US military when Petraeus, then a US general, led the American troop “surge”. Sharaa was one of thousands of foreigners who flocked to Iraq to fight the Americans.
It is indeed “surreal” to see Petraeus warmly embrace al-Sharaa, a hardcore jihadist pretending to be reformed. Yet again, it sends a message to jihadists about how easy it is to fool Westerners.

Syria and Israel are in advanced security talks, but any deal reached will fall short of the Abraham Accords-style normalisation agreements, given anger towards Israel in the Arab world, Syrian President Ahmed al-Sharaa said on Monday.
“I hope that that will lead us to an agreement that will keep the sovereignty of Syria and also resolve some of the security fears of Israel,” Sharaa told former CIA director David Petraeus at an event on the sidelines of the United Nations General Assembly in New York City.
Sharaa’s visit to New York has been hotly anticipated, as he is the first Syrian leader to enter the US and attend the General Assembly since 1967.
Sharaa led the Islamist group Hay’at Tahrir al-Sham (HTS) in an offensive that overthrew Syrian President Bashar al-Assad last year. The US dropped a $10m bounty on Sharaa late last year and removed its terror designation on HTS in July.
Observers have noted how surreal it is to see Petraeus interviewing Sharaa, a former al-Qaeda member.…

The former general, touted as a really great guy, is the same one who berated the man in Florida who burned the book of demon filth which muzzies worship.
Had he stood behind the man, Mr. Jones, things might be different but he supported the evil by threatening Mr. Jones for his actions, leading to the man losing everything.
