So if France rewards Hamas by recognizing a “state of Palestine” just now, won’t that increase the terror group’s appeal to those “Palestinian people” whom Macron claims merely “want a state”? Macron has no idea that it is not just Hamas, but almost all Palestinians, who want Israel to disappear altogether, to be replaced by a twenty-third Arab state. He does not realize that the creation of a “state of Palestine” would whet, not sate, Palestinian appetites for more of Israeli land. He does not comprehend that any “state of Palestine” would be used, just as Gaza has been used by Hamas after the Israelis pulled out in 2005, as a place from which to launch endless attacks on Israel, whatever the size at that point of the Jewish state. France’s expected move has also sparked strong reactions across the country, amid an already tense and hostile climate.
That “tense and hostile climate” in France is a result of the millions of Muslim economic migrants now living in France who have made life for the indigenous French more unpleasant, expensive, and physically dangerous than before those Muslim migrants arrived. They have been costing the state billions of dollars annually in welfare benefits of every kind — free or subsidized housing, free health care, free education and vocational training, family allowances, and more. These Muslim migrants are responsible for a steep rise in crime. Muslims in France make up 10% of the population, but more than 60% of the prison population. Muslims have established dozens of No-Go areas in France, where non-Muslims fear to tread, and even representatives of the state, such as firemen and policemen, need to enter those areas in well-guarded groups lest they be attacked by the locals.
Macron’s determination to recognize a Palestinian state with no preconditions, despite it being opposed by 71% of French voters, can be explained partly by his ignorance of what the Palestinians want, which is not, and never has been, “a Palestinian state living side by side with a Jewish one, in peace and security.” Macron does not understand the jihadist imperative, according to which the Infidel state of Israel, shaped like a dagger that has been plunged into the heart of Arabdom, has to be destroyed. Its continued existence is a constant reminder of the humiliation felt by the Arabs after the nakba — the “catastrophe” — of the 1948 war. Israel exists on land that was once possessed by Muslims and, therefore, it must forever be seen as Muslim land.
Macron is also keenly aware of the increasing Muslim vote, and is willing to spend the coin of Israel’s security to buy the political loyalty of Muslim citizens in France.
And finally, Macron can hardly be unaware that presenting himself as a champion of the Palestinians can be of great help after he leaves the presidency, should he want to work for the Arabs as an adviser, a political consultant, a columnist for Al Jazeera, or — like former Minister of Culture Jack Lang — as the very well-paid head of the Institut du Monde Arabe in Paris. Every politician in Western Europe knows that if you do the Arabs’ political bidding, they will take good care of you, both secretly, when you are in, and openly when you are out of, office.
Macron’s courting of the Arabs through his shameful recognition of a “state of Palestine” will only stiffen the resolve of those who, like the National Rally’s Marine Le Pen and Jordan Bardella, and Eric Zemmour of the Reconquête Party, are ardent defenders of Israel and, perhaps even more important, are determined to halt Muslim immigration into France and to deport Muslims convicted of crimes — of whom there are a great number — back to their countries of origin. Macron appears to be little interested in this rise in Muslim numbers. His attitude seems to be the same one famously expressed by King Louis XVI — “après moi le deluge.” He is not thinking coherently about the future of France. He’s been a mediocre president; now he’s shown himself to be, with his eagerness to recognize “Palestine” and to abandon Israel, an immoral one.

Never had any Muslims in the US before. But now except for Trump, they would be giving the Mexicans a run for the money for being the number one population rushing here.
Any excuse to leave their failing nations and go to Europe or the US instead. They love those places where they can continue to hate Christians and Jews, carry out terrorist attacks and never being even sent back to their horror places in the Arab/Muslim world. If the Western nations treated then as they do Westerners in their countries, things would be much better for everyone.

Now after having their “state”, how long does a state of the art missile with a sophisticated guidance system made in China or North Korea fired from mobile launchers with a far bigger payload take to reach an Israeli city?
What if Israel was attacked by 155 mm Howitzer M1 artillery. The projectile is one of the most widely used of all Western artillery projectiles and is fired from a variety of 155 mm towed and self-propelled howitzers.
Now what if a coordinated attack on Israel firing missiles and artillery at the same time on the ten biggest Israeli cities took place. How many Israeli citizens would be killed? And after losing 2,000 or 100,000 citizens if Israel returned that fire using its ability would that counter attack be considered “genocide”?
I am sure the UN and all those nations who voted to recognize a non existent place called Palestine would easily say it was genocide. So a Palestinian state is simply a precursor to two acts of genocide- one by Palestinians now armed with the most modern weapons of mass destruction and one in return to that genocide by Israel. A Palestinian state is just the basis of future genocides.

Great commentary, Mr. Fitzgerald, as usual (mutatis mutandis–wasn’t it Louis XV, rather than XVI?). As an expat living in France for 22 years, I’d say that the government is and always has been one shambolic mess after another, with Macron being insignificant at either end of the spectrum–until now. Now “mad, evil, immoral” seem almost too good as terms to describe the man (using the word loosely) and what he is doing to France, to Europe, and to the world. How I pray that the true French would unite under their “devise” and La Marseillaise (of which they have been ashamed for far too long). I wonder how many French of fighting age (or any age) know any of the words of their own national anthem? “Great God! By chained hands/Our brows would bend under the yoke/Vile despots would become/The masters of our destinies!/…Liberty, beloved Liberty,/Fight with your defenders!..To arms, citizens,/Form your battalions…” Step aside, Macron. But where’s a Victor Laslo now in this emasculated West?

Following World War I, the status of the Ottoman Empire’s former possessions was determined at a 1920 conference in San Remo, Italy, attended by the victors, France, Britain, Italy, Japan and as an observer, the U.S. The San Remo Resolution assigned the area, then called Southern Syria or Palestine, to Britain. But only as trustee, pledged with the duty to create the Jewish state as early as possible. At San Remo, title to the area passed to the Jewish People. Lord Curzon and many others called the San Remo Resolution “the Magna Carta of the Zionists.”
Two years later the Conference’s decisions were confirmed unanimously by all fifty-one member countries of the League of Nations, and also endorsed by a joint resolution of the U. S. Congress. When the League of Nations was succeeded by the U.N., the U.N. assumed the same legal obligation to create a Jewish state. That obligation is still in force, and the U.N.’s hostility to Israel violates its own founding charter.
In short, for more than 100 years, Israel has been legally recognized at the Jewish national home. France’s and Britain’s intent to carve a 23rd Arab state out of Israel blatantly violates their own solemn treaty obligations.
