As a kind of coda to his recognition of a “state of Palestine,” British Prime Minister Keir Starmer now demands that the Palestinian Authority end its “Pay-For-Slay” program if it wishes to replace Hamas as the government authority in Gaza. British Prime Minister Keir Starmer stated that the discontinuation of the Palestinian Authority’s “pay for slay” policy was a prerequisite to fully establishing diplomatic relations with a Palestinian state, according to a report from the Telegraph on Monday….
Abbas asserted his intent to follow Starmer’s request. “The State of Palestine is pursuing a comprehensive reform agenda to strengthen governance, transparency, and the rule of law,” Abbas said.
“The reforms are set to include financial reform, educational reform, and the establishment of a “unified social welfare system, following the cancellation of all previous payments to families of prisoners and martyrs, now under international audit by a specialized firm,” Abbas added.
Let’s take those “reforms” that Abbas assures us will now be put in place by the very people — Abbas and his loyalists — who have blocked all such “reforms” during the last two decades, as Abbas served 21 years of his four year term.
“Financial reform”? Will Mahmoud Abbas now give back the hundreds of millions of dollars that he and his two sons Yasser and Tareq have stolen from the aid given to the Palestinian Authority by foreign donors? Will he stop allowing his underlings to take part in the same theft, albeit in much smaller amounts, which is how he buys their loyalty?
“Educational reform”? Do you think the schoolbooks now used in the schools of the Palestinian Authority, full of antisemitic sentiments that seep into the teaching of every subject, will be cleansed of all such material? Will the children of “Palestine” cease to be brainwashed in their schools to hate “the Jews”? And that “unified welfare system” Abbas mentions is simply an attempt to disguise, by giving it a different name, the “Pay-For-Slay” program that Abbas has previously promised he will continue even “with my last penny.” His promises of reform are hollow, designed only to win Western support for the replacement in Gaza of Hamas by the Palestinian Authority.
Does Keir Starmer know any of that? Does he realize his demands for financial and educational reforms from the PA will never be met, as long as the PA is in the hands of Mahmoud Abbas and his henchmen? Of course not. When it comes to “Palestine” and the “two-state solution,” Prime Minister Starmer is out far and in deep.
