Taliban members in Badakhshan’s Jurm district shot and wounded a 75-year-old man accused of writing amulets, local sources told Amu.
The incident took place two days ago in the district center, the sources said. According to them, a member of the Taliban’s Vice and Virtue Department fired a full magazine of Kalashnikov rounds at the man, three of which struck his body….

I’m assuming in this case that these amulets are Muslim protection necklaces, pendants or talismans with Arabic writing of some verse or phrase intended to give it a “magical” property to protect the wearer.
The man shot was likely a jewler.
While finding information about amulets it seemed amusing that English advertisements spoke of – “Muslim Jewelry” – in connection with amulets having the Muslim phrase, so often heard(or yelled), on a circular background.
Apparently any object ascribing power to anything but Allah, is fatally haram for these donut-headress, knuckle-draggers.
