Virtue-Signaling Israeli Novelist Clutches His Forehead and Charges His Country with ‘Genocide’

So many are now jumping on the “genocide” juggernaut — “Israel is committing genocide” — lest they be left behind in the virtue-signaling.

There’s Jeremy Ben-Ami, the head of J Street, a far-left Jewish group that berates the Jewish state whenever it can. He’s unsurprisingly on board:

Days after rejecting the claim that Israel is committing genocide in Gaza, Jeremy Ben-Ami, president of the liberal Zionist advocacy and lobby group J Street, has said he has been “persuaded” that he was wrong.

Ben-Ami’s about-face makes him the latest in a growing list of prominent left-wing Jewish US voices to lodge the accusation, which Israel denies and which US President Donald Trump rejected on Sunday.

Perhaps the most disappointing recruit to the “genocide” campaign is David Grossman, a celebrated Israeli novelist, in 2018 the winner of the Israel Prize. He is also a forehead-clutching more-in-sorrow sensitive plant, someone on the left who wants to keep his “European friends” who have let him know that they think Israel has committed “genocide” and were disturbed that he had not yet spoken out. Now this reader of Haaretz has joined the chorus, accusing his own country of “genocide,” and, going further, Grossman bewails the fact that Israel won the Six-Day-War and did not give back all of the territory to the Arab states that had launched their aggression. By its “occupation” (his loaded word) of Judea and Samaria (Grossman prefers “West Bank”), Israel has “corrupted” itself. In his view, should have given up every dunam it won in that war and squeezed itself back within the 1949 armistice lines, with a nine-mile-wide waist from Qalqilya to the sea. He’s sorry Israel won that war. The victory turned Israelis, he said, into “occupiers.” Apparently Grossman has forgotten Israel’s claim, based both on 3500 years of history and on the provisions of the Mandate for Palestine, that assigned Judea, Samaria, and east Jerusalem to be included in the future Jewish state.

The award-winning Israeli author David Grossman has described his country’s campaign in Gaza as a genocide and said he now “can’t help” but use the term.

“I ask myself: how did we get here?” the celebrated writer and peace activist told the Italian daily La Repubblica in an interview published on Friday.

“How did we come to be accused of genocide? Just uttering that word – ‘genocide’ – in reference to Israel, to the Jewish people, that alone, the fact that this association can even be made, should be enough to tell us that something very wrong is happening to us.”

Yes, something “very wrong” is happening with Israel, but it’s not what David Grossman has in mind. The “wrong” is not committed by Israel, but committed by others against the Jewish state. Most of the world has lost its head when it comes to Israel. Antisemitism has reached epidemic proportions, spread by the Muslims who are its main carriers in Western Europe and North America. Much of the world’s media uncritically accept all the reports from Hamas about casualties in Gaza, including the preposterous claims that the IDF deliberately kills little children, and is using starvation as a weapon, and “60,000 women and children” have been killed, and on and on. That’s what’s wrong: the hideous campaign of vilification that David Grossman would do better to denounce, rather than join the chorus screaming about Israeli “genocide.”

Grossman said that for many years he had refused to use the term. “But now I can’t help myself – not after what I’ve read in the papers, not after the images I’ve seen, not after speaking with people who’ve been there. This word is an avalanche: once you say it, it just gets bigger, like an avalanche. And it adds even more destruction and suffering,” he said.

After you, David Grossman, read in what papers? The far-left Haaretz, which loves to attack Israel, or its British far-left soulmate, the anti-Israel Guardian? The images you’ve seen online that keep recycling the same photographs of malnourished children, while their mourning parents seem not to be malnourished at all? The “starvation” photographs that are carefully staged by Hamas, as German investigators recently revealed? The photographs showing still other babies who are emaciated not because of malnourishment but because of congenital illnesses, such as cerebral palsy, illnesses that are never mentioned?

  1. Just as muzzies have their own definitions of peace, terrorist, resistance, and many more terms and phrases, they also have their own definition of genocide. And this idiot has ‘been persuaded’ to go along for the ride, and repeat the big lie.

    By now, nearly two years since hamas and others invaded Israel’s space, kidnapped, tortured, raped, murdered in horrific ways more than a thousand innocent Jews, if Israel wanted to commit ‘genocide,’ they could have done so.
    Israel’s government **warned** gaza’s population before destroying buildings; allowed the people to move before the military went in to various areas to find and eliminate the terrorists, and has been feeding and doctoring people who live in gaza.
    Keep bombing, shooting (without warning and without allowing people to leave), and include starving the people of gaza until no more humans existed there….that would have been genocide.

    But hamas and other muzzies invented a new kind of genocide just to fit what Israel is doing; kill or capture terrorists, not give in to the lies about how many children are dying, don’t accept the figures on the numbers of people killed, and not openly allow hamas to steal the aid for its own use,

    Those who, like this goon, want to believe hamas and their lies, will believe, no matter how much evidence there is to prove otherwise.

  8. What a moron. Does he actually live in Israel? A country attempting genocide and there have been many, does not provide its ‘victims’ with thousands of tons of food aid. Plus the population of Gaza has actually increased threefold since they were given the territory in 2005. If he is an Israeli citizen he should be arrested for treason.

    Huckabee responded: “So Israel is expected to surrender to Hamas & feed them even though Israeli hostages are being starved? Did UK surrender to Nazis and drop food to them? Ever heard of Dresden, PM Starmer? That wasn’t food you dropped. If you had been PM then, the UK would be speaking German!”
    The American ambassador was referencing the US and UK’s bombing of Dresden, during which nearly 7 km of the city was destroyed and at least 25,000 people were killed. Nazi propagandists at the time called it a mass murder.

    If it is true that Israel has sent 2 million tons of food to Gaza (I believe it) then every Gazan has received about 1 ton of food per person. That means Israel supports the live of the Gazans. It does not do genocide. If Israel does genocide, simply stop sending the food to Gaza and totally blockade Gaza like what Muhammad did to the Jews tribes.

Wahrscheinlich lag dieser Herr die letzten 2 Jahre im Koma, ist vor kurzem aufgewacht, schaute neugierig in die Zeitung und… potz, blitz er las vom Einmarsch der IDF in Gaza, die unschuldige Männer im wehrfähigen Alter töten, Zivilisten aus ihren Häusern vertreiben usw, usf. Also, Israel hat Gaza überfallen und macht Krieg, einfach so. Seine Reaktion ist darum nachvollziehbar. Ist doch offensichtlich. Vor seinem Koma war alles schön und ruhig (von ein paar Attentaten und Raketen mal abgesehen, kommt in den besten Familien vor), er wacht auf und sieht die Zerstörung in Gaza. Wer erschreckt sich da nicht? Das kann doch nur Völkermord sein. Logisch. Sieht doch jeder. Die NYT schreibt es auch.
    Übrigens, bei BIDEN war das so ähnlich. Zwischen seinen wohlverdienten Nickerchen stand er mal auf einer Bühne, saß an einem Tisch und unterzeichnete mit einem lustigen Emoji irgendein Papier, redete gern über und mit längst verstorbenen Politikern, prostete wildfremden Menschen im Weißen Haus zu und…… bis er sich dann wieder in seinen wohlverdienten Feierabend verabschiedete. Ein freundliches Winke, Winke am Ende durfte nie fehlen. So wird er uns allen in Erinnerung bleiben.

  12. I don’t know or know anything about any of these people, so don’t take this as any sort of defense of them.

    But I do have to say that even among regular people, “genocide”, is ALL we ever hear! For those who don’t live in the area, don’t have family there, don’t have any way to know for sure the real, on the ground daily situation, we do have to depend on “the news.” And “the news” ONLY gives this portrayal.

    Even for those of us here at JW, it’s difficult to be certain what is accurate or not.

    This is a huge problem.

      • I know. But trying to convince others or at least trying to get them to see the other side is nearly impossible due to the 24/7 information the other way.
