Better late than never:, the American government will now impose sanctions on both members of the Palestinian Authority and on the PLO as an organization. The United States will impose sanctions on several members of the Palestinian Authority and the Palestine Liberation Organization, the State Department said on Thursday.
The State Department announced it had reported to Congress that neither the PLO nor the PA complied with their commitments under the PLO Commitments Compliance Act of 1989 and the Middle East Peace Commitments Act of 2002.
The offenses listed included “taking actions to internationalize its conflict with Israel” through the International Criminal Court and International Court of Justice, as well as supporting and glorifying violence, particularly in textbooks, and the pay-to-slay program.
The move prevents those targeted from receiving visas to travel to the United States, the statement said. “It is in our national security interests to impose consequences and hold the PLO and PA accountable for not complying with their commitments and undermining the prospects for peace.”
The State Department did not confirm which individuals would be sanctioned.
These sanctions on PA and PLO officials come after the State Department imposed sanctions on more than 115 Iran-linked individuals and entities. Their assets in the U.S. may be frozen and they be prohibited from entering the United States. This might extend to Iranian diplomats currently assigned to the U.N. It will certainly make the life of Iranian officials much more difficult. Foreigners who serve as apologists for, and agents of, Iran, while living in this country, such as the sinister Trita Parsi, a Swedish citizen, are likely to have their visas revoked.
The US has already imposed sanctions on Iranian-linked individuals and on the UN’s Special Rapporteur for Conditions in the Occupied Palestinian Territories, Francesca Albanese. The UN now says that the American government has no power to deny the antisemitic Albanese from entering the US. The American State Department does not agree; it has no intention of allowing Albanese, who has been carrying on a campaign at the UN against both Israel and America, to visit, or live, or work in the US. We’ll see who wins that diplomatic tug of war.
Secretary of State Marco Rubio is smiting the enemies of this country and of Israel hip and thigh as has never been done by any administration before. He’d be an excellent presidential candidate in 2028.

I’m curious about one thing. Does the PLO still exist? I thought that it morphed into the PA once Israel was strongarmed into allowing them back into Judea & Samaria. I know that Arafat’s party was Fatah, which is the ruling party in Judea & Samaria, which may or may not be distinct from the PLO, but if it’s not, then doesn’t it follow that the PLO no longer exists?
Anyway, glad that the US has imposed sanctions on both. They should also be disallowed from attending the UN conferences in NYC. If that causes the UN to pull out of the US completely, fantastic. As I mentioned in another thread, that building could be demolished and converted into a multi-level parking for people working in the vicinity, and lessening the load on the subway

It would be better served as a home for disabled Veterans and particularly the Vietnam era service members who are now in their senior years. Lets not forget how badly these veterans where treated by both the VA and the public.

The PA and PLO have admitted to war crimes, when they justify “Pay for lay” as being for their “soldiers”. These “soldiers”

All those are war crimes.

And people like starmer, carney and macron who support the ghouls should be made to stay where they are until they come to some kind of ethical conduct and speech in support of Rights and Freedoms.

Problem is that on the question of islam, Sec Rubio is as clueless as your average guy. In 2015, after the murders at San Bernardino and Orlando, there was a gun show whose organizers put up signs stating that muslims were not welcome to it, and then Sen Rubio condemned them for being intolerant/islamophobic. He had also gone after countries like India on religious freedom, except that he was talking about the religious freedom of muslims, not Hindus whose religious freedoms are actually being violated
He has sent all the right signals about US security, antisemitism and the like, but I have yet to see any evidence that he gets the issue of islam. Even at the senate, during his confirmation hearings, he welcomed the ouster of the Assad regime in Syria, despite it being obvious that HTS had jihadist antecedents. You mention the Russo-Turkish wars: he’d probably come down squarely on the side of Turkey. As a son of Cuban immigrants, he’s anti communist, which is good, but that has morphed into a Russophobic attitude from him
