Ambassador Huckabee, meanwhile, does not believe that the creation of a Palestinian state is the sine qua non without which peace cannot be achieved. He understands that several Arab states have shown themselves willing to enter the Abraham Accords without that “two-state solution,” and that others may follow. There can be negotiations between Israel and the Palestinians, on-and-off-again, even while Israel negotiates with Arab states in the hope of increasing membership in the Abraham Accords. Lebanon is one possibility, given the determination of the Lebanese government to disarm Hezbollah. So is Syria, if al-Sharaa decides his country has more to gain economically from ties with Israel than it does from continuing to carry water for the Palestinian terror groups. “Hands-off approach: Israel to make its own decisions regarding West Bank, Huckabee tells ‘Post,'” by Alex Winston and Amichai Stein, Jerusalem Post, August 21, 2025:
From his seat in Jerusalem, Huckabee watches American domestic politics with growing concern, particularly regarding antisemitism’s rise in major American cities. The possibility that Democratic candidate Zohran Mamdani, who in the past has called to “globalize the intifada,” might be elected as New York City’s next mayor deeply troubles him.
“It disturbs me greatly that someone with a long history of antisemitic comments and behavior would be elected in a city with such a large Jewish population,” Huckabee told the Post bluntly. “His concern extends beyond one candidate to what he sees as a broader pattern of tolerance for antisemitism in American urban centers….
Huckabee is right to be alarmed by the possibility that Zohran Mamdani, both an Islamist and a Communist (he wants the state to own the means of production), might become the mayor of the city with the largest Jewish population in the world. He also has seen, from his vantage point in Jerusalem, the rise in anti-Israel sentiment in the United States, especially in the “progressive” wing of the Democratic Party, and a concomitant increase in antisemitic acts.
Huckabee, however, reserved his harshest criticism for European leaders, whom he accused of undermining negotiations by threatening unilateral recognition of a Palestinian state, which, in essence, rewards Hamas for October 7.
“When you have all these European nations saying, ‘Israel’s not going to have a ceasefire, we’re going to go ahead and unilaterally recognize a Palestinian state,’ what do you think that did with Hamas? It emboldened them. It empowered them. And that’s when [hostage deal] negotiations were over right then,” Huckabee told the Post….
It was just after French President Emmanuel Macron announced that he planned to recognize a Palestinian state at the opening meeting of the UN General Assembly in September, and after he had been joined by UK Prime Minister Keir Starmer making a similar pledge, that Hamas upped its demands, including its insistence on a complete IDF pullout from Gaza, a demand that Israel has steadily rejected. That put an end to the latest round of negotiations that, however, may yet be reopened by the Israelis, given the immense domestic pressure on Netanyahu to come to an agreement, even a bad one, with Hamas, in order to get the remaining hostages freed at long last.
And it was to Qatari and Egyptian mediators that Hamas turned on Monday, reportedly agreeing to the latest Gaza hostage-ceasefire proposal. As of press time, the ball is currently in Israel’s court as it weighs whether to agree or not.
If Israel should agree to a ceasefire, it is likely that Hamas, ever ready to make new demands, will yet again insist there can be no ceasefire without a complete withdrawal by the IDF from all of Gaza — a condition that no Israeli government could agree to. And again Hamas will refuse to re-engage on the question of freeing the hostages.
Huckabee knows how valuable Israel’s intelligence in the Middle East has been for the Americans, especially in dealing with the Houthis in Yemen who have attacked American and other Western shipping, and in preparing the Americans for their attacks on Iran’s nuclear facilities, including one built deep underground at Natanz, and inside a mountain at Fordow, and in buildings spread across Isfahan that from the outside appear to be civilian structures. Without Israel sharing its intelligence, the American attacks might not have succeeded so brilliantly.
“This integration extends far beyond what most Americans understand about the relationship. The two nations collaborate on everything from cybersecurity to space technology, from medical research to agricultural innovation. Their intelligence agencies work so closely that threats to one are immediately shared with the other, creating a kind of strategic nervous system that benefits both countries’ security.
Ambassador Huckabee is keenly aware of all the other areas, aside from intelligence and weaponry, in which tiny Israel has collaborated with the mighty United States, in cybersecurity, space technology, medical research, agricultural innovation, and more. The two countries are by now joined at the hip, and not to be rent asunder.
It is impossible to imagine a more pro-Israel ambassador being assigned to our embassy in Jerusalem. Mike Huckabee supports — even if not all Israeli Jews do — the Jewish state’s annexation of Judea and Samaria. He knows that such a move would not be a violation of international law. He understands, as a Baptist pastor, the long history of the Jewish people in their historic homeland, and why it would be a crime against history and the truth to deny that connection, as the UN and the media do so brazenly whenever they pontificate about “the occupied West Bank.” Judea and Samaria are not “occupied” by Jews; it is the Muslim Arabs who arrived in the Land of Israel two thousand years after the Jews who are the true “occupiers.”
Huckabee is exactly the right man to be remaking American policy toward Israel that will prevent war, through deterrence, instead of encouraging war, by squeezing Israel back within the 1949 armistice lines that would leave Israel with a nine-mile-wide waist between Qalqilya and the sea. Given the present size of Arab arsenals, the Jewish state would then be indefensible. Ambassador Huckabee, Secretary of State Rubio, and President Trump will make sure that does not happen.
Walter Sieruk says
Mike Huckabee is the right man to be the US Ambassador to the State of Israel. This is because he understands the history of all that land that is now the Jewish State.
Likewise, Huckabee also understands that those two words “West Bank” it is modern fabricated term. In great contrast, the words Judea and Samaria are based on history, that is ancient history.
Furthermore, there is a very strange question, which is “Does Israel occupy the West Bank.” The answer is “No”. This is because it’s impossible for a nation to “occupy” lands that are naturally part of that country. For the so-called “West Bank’” are the lands of Judea and Samaria. Which belongs to the State of Israel by historic and Biblical rights
Furthermore, the Bible declares the truth, which is that God had given all this land that now composes the State of Israel, including all of the West Bank, which in reality is Judah and Samaria, belongs to the Jewish people. This may be found in the Bible, as seen in, for example, Genesis 28:13-15. 35:10-12. Deuteronomy 32:48,49. Psalm 105:7-11. 135:4.
In other words, the Jews have tall this land by Divine Right. Furthermore, the Jewish people should have this land by historic rights as shown in First Kings 4:20,21, 24,25. 8:55, 56.

I hope that there are others like him – both men and women – waiting in the wings, educating themselves on the real history of the ‘middle east’.. reading books like Bat Yeor’s “The dhimmi” and ‘Islam and Dhimmitude’ and “The Decline of Eastern Christianty under Islam’, and James Parkes’ excellent ‘whose land?” (which among other things tracks the ongoing persistence of Jewish presence in and attempts to return to the land of Israel even through the worst and darkest periods of Muslim imperial occupation).
They should also be reading John Roy Carlson’s “Cairo to Damascus” – which includes an eerily prescient discussion of the Muslim Brotherhood.. and the reporting of the intrepid and clear-headed Martha Gellhorn, notably her classic 1961 article, “The Arabs of Palestine’ (which notes that the **EGYPTIANS**, who then ruled over Gaza, were the ones who made it a ‘prison’). Martha – unlike most modern western so-called ‘journalists’ – had an excellent bull-sh*t detector, and she utilised it when she encountered tearful and voluble mohammedans spouting endless sob-stories .. or mind-boggling bizarrerie… she coined the term ‘mad-hattery’ to describe the sort of stuff they were wont to spout at her. Whenever she was able to fact-check some wild claim made by a mohammedan arab, she normally found out that it was absolute rubbish.
And they could take a look at Andrew Bostom’s monumental compilation, ‘The Legacy of Islamic Antisemitism’, which makes nonsense of any claims that the Jews somehow had it good when they were under the boot of Muslim occupiers.
