Keir Starmer has issued his diktat to Israel. Israel “must” agree to a ceasefire in Gaza within a month, before the UN General Assembly meets in September. Israel “must” end the “appalling” hunger situation in Gaza within the same month. And if it fails to do either, the U.K. will recognize a Palestinian state. And that state of Palestine will include Judea and Samaria, and east Jerusalem, where 700,000 Israelis now live. With ‘allies’ like Keir Starmer, who needs enemies? Today the PM said Britain will recognise Palestine unless Israel agrees to a ceasefire in Gaza. This, truly, is a new low for this government. It is moral blackmail masquerading as diplomacy. It is a barely veiled threat against a supposed ally. Starmer is essentially telling Israel that unless it lays down its arms, Britain will reward its enemies. This will go down in history as one of the most scandalous betrayals of a ‘friend’ of modern times….
Has Keir Starmer not been paying attention? Over the last many months, it is Israel that has again and again offered to meet new conditions set by Hamas in order to obtain a ceasefire, but whenever Israel offers yet another concession to win Hamas’ agreeing to a ceasefire, the terror group simply brings up a new demand. Finally, even the Americans had had enough of this, and a few days before Starmer made his announcement, they pulled out of negotiations with Hamas, disgusted with the constant increase in demands by Hamas, that clearly has no interest in anything less than a total withdrawal of the IDF from every part of Gaza and the continuation of Hamas’ rule in the Strip.
Hamas won’t hear Starmer’s criticism of its actions or his demand that it release the remaining hostages. It will only hear that killing Jews has benefits. It will only hear that its pogrom of 7 October 2023 – the worst mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust – did more to bring about a Palestinian state than anything else over the past four decades. Starmer and Macron are truly playing with fire. They are witlessly signalling to Islamists that if you rape and murder Jews, you might just get a nation.
Hamas “won’t hear Starmer’s criticism of its actions or his demand that it release the remaining hostages” because he offered no such criticism; nor did he make that demand.
In fact, what Starmer has done is worse than what Macron did. Using the recognition of Palestine as a stick with which to beat Israel into submission, to force it to call off its war against Hamas, is geopolitics at its most cynical and cowardly. It will isolate the Jewish State and embolden Hamas. Hamas now knows that Israel is on the backfoot. That even its old friends are refusing to stand by it. ‘One more push and Israel will be fucked and Palestine will be a state’ – that’s what these Jew-killers will glean from Starmer’s depraved blackmailing of their enemy.
And indeed, just after Brendan O’Neill posted this piece, Hamas hailed Keir Starmer’s attempted blackmailing of the Jewish state. A senior Hamas official, and a former minister in the terror group’s government in Gaza, Basem Naim, welcomed Sir Keir Starmer’s promise to recognize Palestine, saying that “victory and liberation are closer than we expected.” And he contentedly observed that “international support for Palestinian self-determination shows we are moving in the right direction.” If Hamas is mightily pleased by what you are doing, then you had better reconsider.
There are many reasons to deplore Keir Starmer’s catastrophic reign at 10 Downing Street. Of all of them, this is the worst.

So then, Israel has all of August to step up. It’s war in Gaza to eliminate Hamas. And, given the short time, constraint indiscriminate bombing rather than targeted bombing to save the civilians would be in order to ensure that the job gets done in time. These Gazan civilians are not innocent; they cheered in the streets on October 7 and 8, 2023, passing out candy to all, especially the kids.
It is notable, that Stamer, Macron, et al., never mentioned the hostages at all, let alone, the deplorable starvation conditions that they are living in, while beaten every day. In the biblical defensive wars the Israelites, later the Jews, were commanded to kill everyone and not let a single member of the enemy live. An example is the war against the Amalekites. King Saul disobeyed the commandment, and Samuel chastised him for it. A single amalekite lived, and his descendants caused trouble for the Jewish people.
So, if Israel pulls a Tokyo or Dresden on Gaza to finish the war, I would not shed any tears because this would guarantee peace on that front for at least 40 years.

Starmer’s stance does not make sense. Either he believes that it is right to recognise Palestine as a state, in which case, based on his beliefs, one would expect him to do it. Or he does not believe that it is right, in which case he should not – but making it conditional on the behaviour of Israel is amoral and intellectually dishonest.
On a more selfish level, this is good for the UK, because he will now fall foul of Genesis 12:3, and God will bring about the fall of this dire government sooner rather than later (if the UK thought police are reading this, no, I have NOT said that I am conspiring to give God a hand, nor would I do so).
