The Israeli government and Mike Huckabee are responding to false claims of a famine in Gaza. More on their response can be found here: “Mike Huckabee, Israeli Government Push Back Against Claims of ‘Famine’ in Gaza,” by Corey Walker, Algemeiner, August 22, 2025:
The Israeli government and the US Ambassador to Israel, Mike Huckabee, are pushing back against international criticism after a UN-backed authority declared a famine is taking place in Gaza.
“To the uninformed who claim Israel is starving Gaza, get the facts & read the thread below,” Huckabee said on X on Friday. “Tons of food has gone into Gaza but Hamas savages stole it, ate lots of it to become corpulent, sold it on [the] black market but they didn’t give it to the hostages.”
His comments came hours after the Integrated Food Security Phase Classification (IPC), the global body that monitors hunger crises, reported that famine thresholds had been met in Gaza City and surrounding areas, with more than half a million people already experiencing catastrophic levels of hunger. The IPC warned that the number could rise to 641,000 by the end of September if conditions do not improve.
Since May, the Israel-backed Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) has distributed more than 100 million meals to Gazans. Does that sound as if Israel is causing Gazans to starve to death? At the same time, hundreds of truckloads of food aid sit inside Gaza, unable to move, because if they do, Hamas members will immediately attack the trucks, smashing them, destroying their windshields, attacking the drivers, and seizing their cargo, which is then spirited away by Hamas to its own warehouses where much of it is distributed both to its own members, and also kept for sale at exorbitant prices to ordinary Gazans. It is Hamas, not the GHF, that is making so difficult the distribution of food aid and diverting so much of that humanitarian aid intended for civilians in Gaza to Hamas combatants and their families.
The office of Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, in a post on X, dismissed the IPC’s conclusions as “an outright lie,” insisting Israel “does not have a policy of starvation” but rather “a policy of preventing starvation.” Israeli officials note that thousands of aid trucks have entered Gaza and blame the ruling Hamas terror group for diverting supplies.
Huckabee’s remarks echoed that position, framing the Islamist group as the central cause of hunger. Israeli leaders and their allies accuse Hamas of stealing food, hoarding aid, and reselling goods on the black market at inflated prices instead of distributing them to civilians or releasing Israeli hostages.
The United States and Israel set up the Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF) earlier this year to coordinate aid deliveries outside of UN channels, after accusing Hamas of exploiting international assistance. The group says it delivers more than a million meals a day, but humanitarian organizations counter that the aid falls far short of what is needed….
Israel has made heroic efforts to get aid to the civilians in Gaza. A million meals a day, every day since last May, testify to the GHF’s efforts. Israel is not responsible for the violent attacks on the aid convoys, especially by Hamas members, that force the trucks to stop, in order to loot so much of the before it can reach the GHF distribution sites. Yet the food crisis “experts” now denouncing Israel for creating a “famine” make no mention of the seizing, hoarding, and reselling of food aid by Hamas; Israel alone is blamed for the “famine.”
It’s not the IDF that is keeping aid from reaching its intended recipients. It’s Hamas that intercepts that aid; it is amazing, under the circumstances, that the GHF nonetheless manages to distribute a million meals each day. That achievement is not mentioned by the “famine” experts now berating Israel.
It has already been discovered that several of the emaciated children in Gaza filmed by Hamas were, in fact, not starving at all, but suffering from congenital illnesses, including cerebral palsy. The siblings of these “starving children” appear perfectly well-fed, which means that those claimed to be “starving” are in fact suffering from other ailments. Marah Abu Zuhri, a 20-year-old Gazan woman who was medically evacuated to Italy, died of complications from a rare and aggressive form of leukemia. While initial news reports, including that from the BBC, claimed that she died from severe malnutrition, her diagnosis was confirmed by Israeli and Italian hospital officials after her death.
It is Hamas that “weaponizes hunger” by stealing, hoarding, and reselling aid meant to be distributed to Gazans for free; the money it gets from the resale of such aid is used to keep Hamas afloat, able to pay the salaries of its combatants and to pay for weapons smuggled in from Egypt. It is Hamas that has so spectacularly convinced the world to blame Israel for insufficiencies in food delivery to Gazans for which the terror group alone is responsible.
shosh says
Why is it that the religion of islam so many times is connected with lies, accusation, deception, destruction, savage brutal behavior, and catastrophic violence resulting in massive loss of life ????????
and hardly anyone raises an eyebrow or worse, they defend it. Romans 1:28, “Since they did not see fit to acknowledge God, God gave them up to a debased mind
OLD GUY says
Islam is EVIL with lots of money behind it. Without the oil money these islamic fighters would be fighting with WW1 weapons instead on missiles and nukes.
