French President Emmanuel Macron recently became the first leader of a major European power to commit to recognizing a “Palestinian” state at the opening meeting of the UN General Assembly opening this September. Macron is a political flibbertigibbet, of no fixed principles except to secure his own position both while in office, and once he is out of office, to ensure his post-government years will be secure, provided with a sinecure paid for by Arab states grateful for his standing up for “Palestine.” Macron wet his finger and held it up to the wind to decide which way the political wind was shifting, decided that it was clearly in favor of the Palestinians and against the state of Israel, so he proudly declared that in September, France will recognize a “state of Palestine” at the opening session of the UN General Assembly.
Macron is apparently unconcerned that he has no idea of what the boundaries of that state would look like, nor about who would run it — Hamas, the Palestinian Authority, or some outside Arab group that has not yet made its grab for power in what may become a multi-pronged war for control of that future “state of Palestine.” Nor has he explained just how that territory that would become part of “Palestine” could be pulled from Israel’s control, when 80% of Israeli Jews now say they oppose that ballyhooed “two-state solution.” The Israelis who once were willing to entertain the idea of a “Palestinian state” — think of the offer for a surrender of territory to the Palestinians that Ehud Barak made to Yasser Arafat in 2000, and that Ehud Olmert made to Mahmoud Abbas in 2008, both of which the Palestinian side turned down — have changed their minds. After the October 7, 2023 atrocities carried out by Hamas, support for a Palestinian state among Jewish Israelis, which had been steadily decreasing, has fallen to its lowest level, and has remained there ever since.
How does Emmanuel Macron propose to force Israel to agree to the creation of a Palestinian state when eight out of ten Israeli Jews are dead-set against the idea? Will Macron send the French military to force Israel to be squeezed back within the 1949 armistice lines, the Jewish state stripped of its indispensable defenses in the Jordan Valley and with a nine-mile-wide waist from Qalqilya to the sea? How will this pipsqueak Clausewitz of the rue du Faubourg St.-Honoré persuade Israel to surrender its legal rights to Judea and Samaria (both included in the territory of Mandatory Palestine), territory which, in addition, the Jewish state badly needs for its security? Will he be calling out the French Foreign Legion?
Questions for Emmanuel Macron:
When will the Palestinian Authority end its “Pay-For-Slay” program? If Abbas refuses to end it, what will your government do to force a change? Who will oversee the next presidential election to be held by the PA, since Abbas has refused to hold one over two decades?
Who will determine the territory to be included in the new “state of Palestine”? Will it include Judea and Samaria, that the League of Nations meant to be included in Mandatory Palestine, and then in the resulting Jewish state?
If this state of Palestine were to be established, who will decide what happens to the 500,000 Israeli Jews who now live in Judea and Samaria?
Will this new “State of Palestine” be demilitarized, so that its police force will be limited to possessing rifles?
What will happen to East Jerusalem? Will the Old City now be put under international jurisdiction?
Will the new “State of Palestine” agree to let Jews pray on the Temple Mount, the most sacred place in Judaism?
Questions, questions. Emmanuel Macron has not thought through any of this. All he knows is that there are seven million Muslims in France, and he hasn’t the faintest idea how to deal with them, other than trying to curry favor by promoting a Palestinian state.

I doubt he’ll force Israel to do anything. He’ll simply do what a majority of stupid countries worldwide have done – recognize this non-existent country, give them an embassy in Paris and have one in Ramallah. It’s amazing how ostensibly serious people can seriously even consider recognizing a country that doesn’t exist, and in fact never has. There is a much stronger case for a recognition of Tibet, but there, there ain’t too many takers: most countries just regard it as a part of China
It’s also interesting that almost all the countries that recognize “Palestine” refuse to recognize Taiwan, a country that actually does exist

Actually the joke will be on Macron and France.
1. Palestinians will flood French Embassies with Visa requests,
2. Once with a Visa on their new “Palestine” passport they will travel to France and line up at French governmental offices to request DUAL CITIZENSHIP ( Palestine/France).
3. With Dual Citizenship they will purchase condos and homes on France with money for “Settlement Building in Gaza” from the EU, UN and US.
4. They will live in France which has the largest Muslim population of any European nation. Marseille Marseille has a significant Muslim population, with estimates ranging from 20% to 40% of the city’s total population. Marseille also has a reputation for high crime rates, particularly in areas related to drug trafficking and gang violence. It will increase and expand with thousands upon thousands of Palestinians.
5. The French people will hate the name “Macron” for the next hundred years, at least.
