In a speech he delivered while visiting Taiwan, former British Prime Minister Boris Johnson took a dim view of current Prime Minister Keir Starmer’s pledge to recognize a “state of Palestine,” comparing that pseudo-state to Taiwan, which has a much greater claim to be a genuine state, but the British government, fearful of antagonizing Beijing, refuses to recognize. Taiwan has a “far more robust” claim to statehood than Palestine does, former British prime minister Boris Johnson said during a conference in Taipei, Taiwan, according to a Tuesday report by British outlet The Telegraph….
“Never in the wildest dreams of former Hamas leader Yahya Sinwar, can he have believed – when he and his colleagues instigated the horror of October 7, 2023 – that only 22 months later the United Kingdom itself would be so craven and pathetic as to fall for Hamas propaganda and to turn against Israel,” Johnson wrote in his column in the UK outlet Daily Mail on Friday.
“Never did Hamas imagine that London would be so easily manipulated as to conclude that the way to end the crisis was specifically to reward Hamas for its mayhem by tearing up its long-standing policy and officially recognising the state of Palestine,” he added.
“From next month we are going to recognise this territory, at least partly controlled by Hamas, as a fully-fledged state – like France, or the United States,” he continued.
“By recognising Palestine, the UK government is effectively claiming that Palestine is an entity with recognised borders, even though those borders are, of course, very far from clear, and the UK is claiming that Palestine has a viable government, when that government is actually shared between Fatah and Hamas, and Hamas, in case you have forgotten, is a psychotic Islamofascist death cult that treats women as second-class citizens and throws gays off rooftops,” he stated.
“We thought it was worthwhile to rid the world of a homicidal Islamist death cult, and we were right. It was awful, but we could see no other way. In the end, it worked, and in the end – grim though things now seem – the Israeli operation will work in Gaza,” Johnson added….
By promising to recognize in September the state of Palestine, Keir Starmer sacrificed Israel to his electoral anxiety. He was, as Boris Johnson rightly says, in a “state of panic” about his decline in the polls, and he chose to curry favor with Muslim voters and with far-left anti-Israel voters by abandoning the UK’s loyal ally, the tiny and embattled state of Israel. His craven promise will be pocketed by both voting groups, but neither is likely to be satisfied for long. Having obtained this promise, they will now demand that Starmer insist that this “state of Palestine” include Judea, Samaria, and two areas that Israel annexed long ago — east Jerusalem, in 1980, and the Golan Heights, in 1981. Starmer has either forgotten, or never knew, Kipling’s famous lines about the Danegeld: “And that is called paying the Dane-geld/But we’ve proved it again and again/That if once you have paid him the Dane-geld/You never get rid of the Dane.”
Boris Johnson, who is so much more of a truth-teller out of office than he was in it, has just delivered a body blow to the UK’s appeaser in-chief, Keir Starmer. I doubt that Starmer will recover.

In England hat nicht nur das Essen einen schlechten Ruf. Früher hätte ich Großbritannien gerne mal bereist. Aber heute muss ich ja Angst haben, am Flughafen wegen öffentlicher Kritik an Starmer verhaftet und weggesperrt zu werden.
Außerdem stehe ich persönlich nicht so auf autoritäre Diktaturen, wo ich in der schönsten Zeit des Jahres (die Ferien- und Urlaubszeit) mein Geld ausgeben möchte.
Ich kann aber auch niemand eine Reise nach Deutschland empfehlen. Hier geht die Staatsmacht auch mit aller Gewalt gegen Kritiker vor.
