A leaked email has further shown how UK state broadcaster the British Broadcasting Corporation (BBC) has misled audiences on events in Gaza since the October 7th pogrom.
Writing in The Spectator on July 28th, broadcaster Jonathan Sacerdoti details how an internal memo entitled “Covering the food crisis in Gaza,” acts as “a top-down editorial diktat that discards impartiality.” Sent to BBC staff on Friday, July 25th, it opens with the assertion that “the argument over how much aid has crossed into Gaza is irrelevant.” Instead, “we [staff] should say” that the current distribution system “doesn’t work.”
Such criticism is directed at the recently created Gaza Humanitarian Foundation (GHF), not the United Nations’ Hamas-riddled UNWRA NGO. The BBC is instructing journalists to blame the GHF for the failure of aid to get through, rather than, say, the involvement of Hamas terrorists in attacking and looting aid shipments. As Sacerdoti argues,
The closer the GHF and Israeli army get to finally defeating the terrorists, the more shrill the BBC’s insistence that the Jewish state is deliberately starving children.
This now includes a memorandum designed to control the narrative by instructing journalists to ignore any evidence to the contrary. The email even declares that it is ‘indisputable’ that Israel is the occupying power in Gaza, despite disengaging from there in 2005. Israel presents its current action as a temporary one to defeat Hamas and its allies, and not an attempt to acquire territory….

People often say the same thing about the ABC in Australia which was modelled on the BBC, James. Once it was considered to be reasonably truthful but these places are like magnet for left wingers. They know that they will work in cosy place surrounded by fellow far left fools. The ABC is often referred to as a sheltered workshop for Marxists. Conservatives wouldn’t work there because they would face too much hostility.

Haroon Aswat, 50, could be released from a secure hospital unit in the UK in the near future without a full risk assessment because of his mental health treatment.
He was jailed in 2015 in the US for 20 years after he admitted trying to start a terrorist training camp in Oregon.
Aswat was visited by a British psychiatrist in America before he was deported back to the UK in 2022 where he declared: “I’m a terrorist.”
Now newly surfaced US court documents, first reported by The Sun, show Aswat also confessed to being a “mastermind behind the [9/11] attacks and a 2005 attack in the UK”.
In addition to his connection to the 7/7 London terror bombings, which killed 52 people, Aswat has also threatened to murder Jews, Christians and certain sects of Muslims.
Robert Jenrick, the shadow justice secretary, said Aswat must remain behind bars for the rest of his life.
“This despicable man was behind one of the most deadly attacks in modern history. He should never experience freedom again,” he said.
Police have assessed Aswat and found he continues to be a security risk. However, a High Court judge has ruled he can be released from a secure hospital after completing treatment for mental ill-health.
Justice Robert Jay said the release of Aswat from his detention under the Mental Health Act was now expected in the “relatively near future”, enabling him to return to his family in Batley, West Yorkshire.
Despite officials admitting their concern and Mr Justice Jay acknowledging there was “evidence of an ongoing risk”, Aswat will only be subject to a notification order upon his release.
Training with al-Qaeda
A document from the US District Court, which has been released for the first time, described Aswat as a terrorist and foot soldier of al-Qaeda, and revealed he openly admitted to his involvement in terrorist activities.
“In March 2017 the defendant stated, ‘if you think I am a terrorist, I don’t shy away from my responsibility’ and also stated he was a mastermind behind the 9/11 attacks and a 2005 terrorist attack in the UK,” it said.
The papers showed that Aswat revealed his associations with Osama bin Laden and that he had spent time training in al-Qaeda camps in Afghanistan just months before the terrorist attacks of Sept 11 2001, which claimed more than 3,000 lives.
His name was also found on a ledger discovered in a house in Pakistan where Khalid Sheikh Mohammed, the “architect” of 9/11, had been staying.
Other activities included helping Abu Hamza, an extremist Islamic preacher, establish a US terror camp in 1999. Aswat also stayed at a house in Pakistan in 2002 – where he met two of the 7/7 bombers – and possessed a terror manual and alleged bomb materials.
Police also traced 20 calls made by the 7/7 bombers to a phone connected to Aswat.
Det Ch Supt Gareth Rees, head of operations for the Met’s SO15 Counter Terrorism Command, said of Aswat in a witness statement: “Based on my experience, this is conduct which gives me grave concerns about the risk which the defendant poses to the UK’s national security and to the public.”
‘Islamic violent extremism’
A report compiled by Dr Richard Taylor, who travelled to America in the summer of 2022, found Aswat still posed a risk to the public. It stated that in 2017 Aswat made remarks to prison staff in support of al-Qaeda and made violent threats against them.
In 2022 he sent letters which made demands and death threats, seemingly motivated by a terrorist ideology.
Dr Taylor concluded that he openly endorsed an extremist ideology, but there was no evidence that Aswat was mentally ill.
However, he had had limited opportunity to address the extremist mindset and showed traits of glibness, superficial charm, charisma, intelligence and elements of manipulativeness and narcissism.
Even when mentally stable he continued to express violent, extremist Islamic ideology, Dr Taylor found. The diagnosis showed a schizoaffective disorder with symptoms showing unpredictable and aggressive behaviour.
Dr Taylor concluded “the risk of Islamic violent extremism” remained, as well as targeted terrorist behaviour “given his threats to kill Jews, Christians and certain groups of Muslims”.
He added: “There is also a risk of him influencing other vulnerable individuals, as when he is in an abnormal mental state his religious extremist rhetoric is amplified by mental illness.”
Det Insp Karen Bradley, who was involved in the case, concluded that Aswat remained a risk to national security.
20 years on, the terrorist threat is as great as ever
Aswat was born and grew up in Yorkshire but moved to Wood Green in north London, where he fell under the spell of Hamza – and together they planned a terror training camp in Oregon with Aswat moving to Seattle to organise it.
He also spent time in Afghanistan and in Pakistan, where he met and associated with Mohammed Sidique Khan, a fellow Yorkshire terror sympathiser, and Shehzad Tanweer, his accomplice.
They would go on to carry out the deadly 7/7 bombings in London that killed 52 people on underground trains and a bus in July 2005.
Aswat served most of his sentence in America and was deported to the UK in December 2022.
He is currently detained at Bethlem Royal Hospital in Bromley, south-east London.
A Government spokesman said: “Protecting our national security is the very first priority of this Government and if any individual poses a threat to that security, the police and intelligence services have a range of powers they can apply to deal with that threat.
“We will always do whatever is necessary inside the law to protect the public from any risk posed by former terrorist offenders or people of terrorist concern.”

To watch any LIVE television British citizens must have a TV licence, IRRESPECTIVE of what channel is watched. To watch any specific BBC programme even on “catch up” after broadcast (BBC I player) you must have a licence.
This a legal requirement.
People are actually jailed each year for watching TV without a licence.
The only exemption as I understand it are old folk over 75 and that is always threatened to be withdrawn.
The content of BBC programmes took a downturn and went far to the left from the period they started to concentrate on recruiting presenters and staff from ethnic minorities.
People may not like to hear that but the State narrative is pushed by the National Broadcaster.
It is biased as hell but most folk don’t realise it and still faithfully pay.
I gave up paying the licence fee three years ago and have not missed it a single day. Hundreds of thousands have cancelled their licences.
In truth I only ever watched Nature documentaries any way and once a year – on Christmas day the Queens Speech to the Nation.

I haven’t had live TV for now close to 2 decades. Honestly, I don’t need to get the latest news live, as it is happening. I’m usually happy to watch the YouTube or Rumble feed of an event hours, or even days, after it happens, just to get up to date. Same for entertainment shows: I am happy to watch them after they’ve aired and uploaded online
I had a cable internet connection at home, and the provider would keep calling my & trying to convince me to upgrade to their special TV packages. I’d just tell them that I have no TV, and watch everything on my laptop, for which just the internet service is adequate. At some point, I might have one of those alternative media plugins like Roku or Slingbox, if needed. But certainly not mainstream 100+ TV channels, none of which have what I want

If you buy a Samsung Internet connected TV you can sign on to almost every App you need including TV channels which come with a Samsung TV automatically.
