After the fashion of the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Islamic Emirate of Afghanistan is equating dislike of its rule with rejection of Islam.

The Taliban have arrested 16 young men in Kandahar for raising Afghanistan’s republic era black, red and green national flag during a private Independence Day gathering, local sources said.
The arrests took place on Thursday, as residents marked the 106th anniversary of Afghanistan’s independence. Participants had also displayed a portrait of King Amanullah Khan, who is remembered for securing the country’s sovereignty from Britain in 1919.
According to sources, Taliban intelligence forces detained several of the youths for posting photos of the national flag on social media.
A Kandahar resident, speaking on condition of anonymity, said: “Our youths had done nothing hostile. They only raised the flag that symbolises Independence Day. The Taliban arrested them as if they had committed a grave crime.”
Witnesses said Taliban agents accused the detainees of being “agents of infidels” and “hypocrites” during the arrests. Some of the youths were later released after their families provided written guarantees, but others remain in custody, sources said….

It’s interesting that they’ve also displayed the portraits of Amanullah Khan, who was secular and savior of his nation like Ataturk. But Islamists like Taliban, Iranian mullahs and Erdogan don’t actually love their country and people. Everyone knows how they exploited these nations. It’s becoming more clear day after day. I wish these three countries, Afghanistan, Iran and Turkey could return to secular governance as they were during most of the 20th century.

The design in the middle stripe of the flag is that of a mosque. Interesting choice for infidels to insert into the flag of a country that they ostensibly want to de-islamize
I can’t read Nastaliq, but it looks to me like the Taliban flag is the ISIS flag in light mode. Or that the ISIS flag is the Taliban flag in dark mode
When I was a kid, flags were supposed to be easy to draw, so that they could easily be reproduced. Nowadays, in the era of easily copied images, that’s no longer a criteria
