Zohran Mamdani, a self-described Democratic Socialist, may well be elected Mayor of New York City this November. The callow young are behind him, the antisemites are behind him, the hardcore leftists are behind him, and his rivals — Mayor Eric Adams and Andrew Cuomo — are dividing the anti-Mamdani vote between themselves, when for the good of the city one of them should drop out of the primary race so that the anti-Mamdani vote can coalesce around one candidate and have a better chance to prevail.
Mamdani’s victory will hearten anti-Israel leftists everywhere; democratic socialists will be much in vogue among the under 25 voters; his election will have a significant effect on the forthcoming presidential race in 2028. The greatest beneficiary of a Mamdani victory will be that former barkeep and member of The Squad, Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez (D-Flats Fix). More on her plans, and how Mamdani’s victory would give her a massive boost, can be found here: “Mamdani’s rise in NYC could open the door for an AOC presidential run | Opinion,” by Dace Potas, USA Today, July 12, 2025:
As the Democrats continue to soul-search in the wake of President Donald Trump’s recapture of the White House, certain members of the left view this as an opportunity to appropriate the party for their own means.
Democrats are still searching for a path forward, and a socialist rebellion within the party could be it….
Or such a “socialist rebellion” could persuade the grown-ups in the Democratic room to challenge in the primaries every Democratic candidate claiming to be a “democratic socialist,” in the hope of ridding the party of its far-left contingent, who, if foiled by centrist Democrats may go off to found their own party, just as — from the other side — Elon Musk seems hellbent on doing even if it harms the Republicans.
Mamdani’s jump to the Democratic nominee for mayor is one such example. At the same time, America’s most well-known (and perhaps most politically competent) young democratic socialist, AOC, has likely set much higher goals.
The de facto leader of the democratic socialist movement, Sen. Bernie Sanders, I-Vermont, doesn’t seem to be running for president a third time, but he has been helping AOC raise her national profile through their “fighting oligarchy tour,” a speaking tour in which the pair spread their anti-elite message.
The Odd Couple, Senator Bernie Sanders (D-Ben and Jerry’s) and AOC, have been barnstorming around the country together in their “fighting oligarchy” tour, though quite a few real-life oligarchs, beginning with George Soros, have been supporting their efforts. Zohran Mamdani’s candidacy gives them hope that democratic socialists can take over the largest city in the country, the one most identified with capitalism, and that a candidate full of ant-Israel animus, who refuses even to denounce the murderous antisemitic threat of the phrase “globalize the Intifada,” can be elected as mayor of the city with the greatest number of Jews in the world.
AOC has not made an explicit indication of whether she would be gunning for the 2028 presidential nomination. Still, others have speculated she may pursue Senate Minority Leader Chuck Schumer’s seat in 2026, and polls indicate she may have a good opportunity to challenge that seat.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez came out of nowhere; before she ran for Congress she had been a waitress and bartender at a taco restaurant, Flats Fix, which no doubt she will claim made her “able to listen” and to “learn about the problems real people have” as — while nursing a glass of tequila or a whiskey sour — they poured out their problems to the attractive female behind the counter.
She won her seat in 2018, in a great upset, defeating ten-term Congressman Joseph Crowley in the Democratic primary, and sailing through to win what has always been a safe seat for the Democrats.
Ocasio-Cortez is fantastically ambitious. Five years after she first sat in the House, she is already planning her ascent to higher office. Some say she plans to run against Chuck Schumer, the New York Senator who is the Senate’s Minority Leader; others claim she is even aiming higher, hoping to run for President in 2028. That she is even considering this as a possibility shows just how far left the Democratic Party has travelled, as its left-wing metamorphoses into a group of Democratic Socialists.
A win for Mamdani in the mayor’s race will feed AOC’s senatorial and presidential ambitions; his defeat will likely quell them. That’s one more reason — there are so many — to defeat the man who in his anti-Israel attitudes rivals Rashida Tlaib, Linda Sarsour, and Francesca Albanese.

how absurd can we get?
Why not Jasmine Crockett?
Or Swallowell?
࿗Infidel࿘ says
She could make Jasmine her VP
Then checked boxes on the ticket:
🗹 Hispanic
🗹 Black
🗹 Woman
I don’t know whether either of them can check the LGBTQIA+ boxes, but it could be worth a try. Maybe one of them could embrace islam, and then try pocketing the muslim vote

AOC for president. Her campaign slogan could be, MAPR, Make America Puerto Rico. Lovely.
James Lincoln says
In a formerly saner United States of America, we would not even be talking about the ambitions of people like Mamdani and AOC.
Definitely not in the United States of 1960.
Wellington says
“Formerly” is the key word, James. We’re still gettin’ bit in the collective butt respecting what that most destructive of decades, the 1960s, wrought.

Mamdani as Mayor of NYC and AOC as President. Yes, consider this twin nightmare. It would mean, effectively, the ending of the great experiment begun here in North America some two hundred and fifty years ago. A puppet Biden, ineffectual and corrupt as he was, would be as nothing compared to a Mayor Mamdani and, even worse, a President AOC.
Well, if this occurs, it would very much tend to prove Polybius’s cyclical view of history (once again). Yes it would. I’m sure many will readily understand why I want an exception to Polybius this time.

I think it would be the fulfillment of Bible prophecy. The women would be in charge. Christians and Jews would be persecuted. Violence would increase. Homosexuality would be commonplace. The Far Left would have so much power that it would take the Second Coming of Jesus to defeat it.
tgusa says
I wouldn’t bet on End Days prophesy because the Bible states you wont even know that is coming until it is upon you.
“The Far Left would have so much power that it would take the Second Coming of Jesus to defeat it.”
God helps those who help themselves. That is a phrase that has been said all over the world in many places times and ages.

Mamdani is not a woman. Why would you think that he is?

I think he’s referring to AOC being the main beneficiary of a Mamdani victory

If he is as bad as we all believe he will be, perhaps some will learn a hard lesson and the bartender turned pretend lawmaker will not have a chance at being in charge.

Mike, we are all together here in what have we got to lose land. The world is in the middle of a great shakeup so we might as well put in our two cents and see what happens.

Please stop describing AOC or Mamdani as “socialists”. Socialists are extinct today: the last time they existed was during the Cold War, when they supported government stepping in to fill roles in failing sectors of the economy, but nothing more. What we have this century are authentic communists, and in some cases, fascists. They want to either take over all the economy (like Mamdani’s groceries) or comandeer various sectors of the economy to do what they want (like the Biden administration w/ the social media companies)
I think AOC is already the frontrunner in her party. All those polls that have Kamala or Newscum on top is only due to their name recognition, but AOC is where she is despite not having any high profile office outside Congresswoman, and due to her being so active on TikTok. All the “moderate Dems” who could have stopped AOC have by now bolted the party, and at best, become independents. JD Vance would have a good shot w/ them in 2028, were he the GOP nominee
OLD GUY says
A victory for Mamdani would spell a disaster for NY and America. AOC needs the boost, right out of office. It is hard to believe these to far left morons are even in the political picture. I guess there are people who still believe that these politicians are going to give them all this FREE stuff. Wake up the every day worker pays for it all.

A guy whose parents came here from Cuba when he was a young boy, has entered the race as an Independent. He is an anti-socialist, anti-communist and his name is Joseph Hernandez. He is the owner of several successful businesses.
Will he have a chance of winning?
࿗Infidel࿘ says
In NYC? Not a chance, given
⮞ Lack of name recognition
⮞ Anti-communist, so will pass off as (R) w/o the label
⮞ Business owner, therefore low in the victim sweepstakes
Eric Adams has a low chance running as an Independent, so there’s no way Joseph Hernandez has a snowball’s chance in hell. Maybe he should have been the (R) nominee instead of Curtis Sliwa
