The Rawalpindi Police on Wednesday said they arrested a man for allegedly killing his daughter for ‘honour’ over not deleting her account on social media platform TikTok.
The first information report (FIR) of the case was registered at Rawat Police Station a day ago on the complaint of Head Constable Shahbaz Anjum Kayani under Section 302 (Punishment of qatl-i-amd), and Section 311 (Waiver or compounding of qisas) of the Pakistan Penal Code.
Under Section 311, the state becomes the complainant, as this provision is non-compoundable, and the case must proceed to a logical conclusion. The punishment for ‘honour’ killings, under Sections 311 and 302, includes the death sentence or life imprisonment. The option for a 25-year sentence under Section 302C is not applicable when Section 311 is invoked.
The FIR said the incident occurred at 11:30am a day ago in Dhok Chaudhrian, within the limits of the Rawat Police Station when Kayani received a tipoff from a source about the suspect asking his daughter to delete her TikTok account, but she refused. He added that the suspect was angered and shot his daughter in the name of ‘honour’, fleeing after the crime.
A statement from the police said they had arrested the victim’s father and recovered the murder weapon, a pistol, from his possession, adding that three teams were formed under the supervision of Saddar Superintendent of Police Nabeel Khokhar for the task.

This one is a tough one. On one hand, TikTok is a sociopathic social media tool that serves best to subvert countries: I’m a tad surprised that Beijing didn’t release for Pakistan Douyin rather than TikTok. Douyin is the Chinese version of the app, but it’s not just the localization: the entire product is a very wholesome equivalent of TikTok, which actually suggests inspiring trends, from solving Rubiks Cube puzzles to actually engaging in worthwhile activities. While the Chicoms promote TikTok to subvert the people, particularly youth, of other countries, they are careful not to replicate that within their own country itself. From that standpoint, this father was correct to oppose his daughter’s having a TikTok account, although murdering her was obviously over the top
That said, I’m all for muslim, particularly jihadist populations getting lost in TikTok and being totally hijacked from the path of jihad. From that standpoint, the more people in Pakistan, Bangladesh, Afghanistan, Iraq, Qatar, Kuwait, Syria, Turkey, et al are addicted to TikTok, the better, and the less time they’ll have available for jihadist activities

There sure is, but the bulk of TikTok activity is towards promoting narcissistic and self-aggrandizing behavior. Put another way, if these islamic countries’ populations were all locked on their phones & all into TikTok, do you think we’d see more or less jihad activity from them?

There is nothing sane about killing your “loved” ones over some instructions compiled from various versions, by people you never met, claiming to be the words of a prophet of unknown visage, received from an angel seen by no one else, claiming to be words of Allah-god, an entity who(it, we) has never appeared to anyone or even been a finger on a wall or a burning bush.
It sounds about as sane as sending all your money to a Pakistani cold call from a boiler room.
