This is a news item to show to those skeptics who insist that Islamic violence in the West is retaliation for what we Westerners have done in the Middle East. Islamic violence (or threats of it) can be directed at anyone, whether Muslims have “grievances” against them or not.

India should cut its losses to the Muslims in assam and probably bengal as well and regroup in more friendlier bjp areas and make plans.
It’s a lost cause, and bjp is a joke, like they deported ten people one day and put it on the news. Total joke. Just accept those areas are/will be lost and save what you can.

Assam is part of North East India which in a whole is in danger of being lost.
It is a unique area that is actually majority Christian. The most NE provinces of Nagaland, Mizoram and Manipur, pushing 80% Christian, and by no coincidence despite being amount the poorest non industrial rural areas of India has highest literacy rates. If you’ve had Assam Tea or Darjeeling Tea, it’s from this area.
I’ve met several people from this area just in past couple years spending lots of time in India for work. If you visit a nice hotel chances are the staff and servers will be from this area. Very good English skills, clear speaking, able to hold a logical intelligent conversation and anticipate needs.
Bangladesh has openly declared they will “cut off the neck” of India referring to this region which is only connected by.a small strip of land 20km wide. Sandwiched btwn Bangladesh from below, and China influence above and East, this region is under pressure. Bangladesh president Muhammed Yunus recently making remarks and strengthening ties with China.

India has fought with militarily action in this region before but back then India had the dominate military compared to China. The past 20-30yrs have turned those tables around.
While the rest of world watches the Taiwan Straight this area in India could be where China tests its self out first. Bangladesh will play their role to make it look like cultural unrest and some long ago story to blame the British and partition. Etc, and it’s unclear if or how hard India will be able to fight back.

Assam is not a Christian majority state. India has 7 north eastern states – Assam, Arunachal, Nagaland, Manipur, Mizoram, Tripura and Meghalaya. Of these
⮞ Assam and Tripura have clear Hindu majorities, and the leading minority in both those states are muslim, like this story suggests
⮞ Meghalaya, Mizoram and Nagaland have overwhelming Christian majorities
⮞ Arunachal and Manipur are evenly balanced b/w Hindus & Christians, and in Manipur, there has been a genocide of Hindus by Christians for now 3 years
And no, those people have very poor English skills. When I was a kid and attended school in India, the bulk of our teachers (I did go to a missionary school) were Anglo-Indians ie people of mixed British & Indian descent. Their English did have an Indian accent, but was otherwise great. By contrast, today, most of those Anglo-Indians have migrated to the West, just like a lot of other Indians, and so running these schools have been handed over to these converts. They may be great at teaching other things, but English is not their first language the way it was w/ the Anglo-Indians. So the standards of English in those schools has plummeted
Also, one common misconception about India is that it’s an English speaking country. Actually, no more English speaking than countries like Germany or France. In those countries, people speak among themselves in their own languages, and w/ tourists, in English. In India, people only speak English when they’re talking to people in other states, and Hindi isn’t an acceptable link language for one of the parties
