Like Hamas, the virulently anti-Israel UN doesn’t want Israel’s efforts at feeding Gazans to succeed. It refuses to take control of 950 trucks already inside Gaza, and won’t distribute the aid they are carrying. The UN is prepared to see Gazans starve rather than to help Israel’s effort to get the aid to those who most need it, without Hamas managing to steal so much of it for themselves. “‘I saw something different’: IDF reservist refutes intl. claims of intentional starvation,” by Gabriel Colodro, The Media Line, July 27, 2025:
That frustration peaked on July 20, when international headlines reported that Israeli troops had opened fire on civilians waiting for food. “Y” says he was there and that nothing about that morning resembled the story broadcast to the world.
According to his account, the incident began the night before. On July 19, around 10 p.m., eight to ten aid trucks arrived at the site. The delivery was standard procedure, meant to prepare for morning distribution. But soon after, a crowd began to approach.
“They weren’t supposed to be there. It was closed. They saw the trucks and came to loot,” he says. “We fired warning shots. No one was hurt. They left, for the time being.”
The army had posted the opening times on Palestinian Facebook groups. Drones circled overhead, broadcasting in Arabic: “The site will open at 9 a.m. Do not approach.” “Y” says the instructions were clear, constant, and public.
Around 2 a.m., a small team was sent to a forward position one kilometer from the corridor, at a junction of several dirt paths. Their role was to intercept any suspicious movement before it reached the aid zone.
At approximately 4:30 a.m., four Gazan men came into view. Voices echoed in the dark. Then came chants of “Allahu Akbar.”
“That’s when it became obvious; this wasn’t just a spontaneous crowd,” he says. “It was coordinated.”
The four Gazan men emerged from behind a building. A warning shot was fired ten meters in front of them. They kept running. “Then four became a hundred. Then a thousand. All adult men. No women. No children. Just men running straight at us.”…
This was clearly not a spontaneous rush for aid by ordinary Gazans, but a well-planned raid by Hamas, that had been preparing for such an opportunity to overwhelm (and no doubt kill) IDF guards and seize the trucks laden with aid.
There were armed Hamas combatants at the back of the crowd. The IDF guards were surrounded on three sides by the crowds, with the food trucks blocking the fourth side. They had no way to retreat if the thousands of Gazans rushed forward to overwhelm them. They had to fire warning shots to stop the stampede. And when that didn’t stop them, they fired not to kill, but to hit their legs to make them stop. It is Hamas, not the IDF, that has fired on Gazans to kill them, in the hope that the IDF will be blamed for their deaths. And it has been, by the world’s media that always takes Hamas’ claims as the gospel truth.
The IDF soldiers were threatened with being overrun by thousands of Gazans, including members of Hamas, who were determined to disrupt Israeli efforts to distribute aid directly to the people of Gaza, so much of which aid has in the past been stolen by Hamas.
Asked how he felt watching the international coverage, “Y” didn’t hesitate. “People want to believe lies. It helps justify their hate. But it only hurts the Palestinians. Because every time this propaganda is believed, Hamas gets stronger.”
“Y” is convinced the entire event was staged. “They wanted a bloodbath. Something to sell to the media. And they got it.”
On the proposal to restore distribution control to United Nations Relief and Works Agency for Palestine Refugees in the Near East (UNRWA), his response is just as blunt: “UNRWA is Hamas. There’s no difference between them. Giving them back control is handing it straight to the terrorists.”…
Dozens of UNRWA staff members took part in the atrocities carried out by Hamas members on October 7, 2023, and documents uncovered by the IDF in Gaza show that more than 400 UNRWA staff are members of the terror groups Hamas and Palestinian Islamic Jihad. Furthermore, Hamas built its largest command-and-control center in Gaza right under the UNRWA headquarters. There is no way that UNRWA could have been unaware of Hamas hiding that center right under its own offices.
“Y” doesn’t expect the headlines to change. “The lies will continue. The world will keep blaming us. But we’ll keep doing the job, because someone has to.”
Then, without raising his voice, he adds:
“They weren’t hungry. They were coming for the trucks.”
That is, the well-fed members of Hamas were coming for the trucks in order to seize the humanitarian aid they held, in order to resell that food aid to Gazans. And if the IDF, trying to protect the aid from falling into the hands of Hamas, has been forced to shoot not at their knees but higher up, killing some, leading to Hamas immediately denouncing the firing in self-defense as the “cold-blooded killing of those whose only crime was standing in line for food.”
This shows how far from reality are the comments on Gaza by Western media and institutions. The alarm expressed by the Foreign Press Association about a “humanitarian crisis” in Gaza should be directed only at Hamas. It is the IDF that has been trying to deliver as much food aid as possible to people in Gaza with the least amount of that aid being stolen by Hamas. The “starvation” narrative is false. Hamas manages to recycle the same photographs of “Gazan children starving to death,” but nothing is reported about the IDF’s attempts to stop the theft of aid by Hamas, or about the IDF’s effort to recover from Hamas aid it previously stole, so that it may be distributed to the impoverished in Gaza.

I can think of no other time in history when a nation at war with a genocidal adversary is prevailed upon by the world to feed its enemy, even putting its citizens and military in harm’s way in order to do so. Some may find this commendable, but I for one feel nothing but outrage that it is only Israel that has been placed in this grotesque position. If there is starvation in Gaza, then probably a big proportion of the world are in starvation too, because they can not eat as much as they like..

Israel is feeding them not starving them. On the contrary, Grant, Sherman, and Sheridan did this against the South in the Civil War. Sherman and Sheridan did it in the Plains Wars. Nimitz did in the Pacific in WW2. In war shutting off supplies has been standard operating procedure pretty much forever. In providing them with food Israel is going against historically well established wartime tactics. It remains to be seen if you can win a war doing that. It could be a first, or, it could be a really bad idea. Only time will tell.

I can imagine that huge numbers of people have seen those images of starving infants and believed that Israel is causing the problem but I haven’t bought it. I’m sure that the scum of the earth from Hamas are starving the infants and young children for propaganda purposes. And those Gazan parents who are always saying that they would love their kids to be martyrs would be happy to go along with it and have their kids starved.
