The Houthis continue to showcase their Islamic religious zeal and continuing ability to wage jihad, despite the fact that the U.S. military has spent “hundreds of millions of dollars earlier this year in a six-week barrage” aimed at stopping the Houthis from targeting ships in the Red Sea. Also, two months ago, Trump declared: “They — we will take their word. They say they will not be blowing up ships anymore.” The Houthis violated the agreement with Trump: two months after Trump’s ceasefire agreement to allow safe passage of ships in the Red Sea, the Houthis have broken the agreement. They have gone back to attacking cargo ships.
The Houthis sank the massive Eternity C bulk cargo ship, which measures 612 feet long with a width of 91 feet, with ballistic and cruise missiles. The Eternity C was the second vessel the Houthis sunk in two days.
The Houthi attack killed at least four crew members, according to the Guardian, and “one armed guard from the vessel had been pulled alive from the water.” Fifteen people are still missing, and many were kidnapped.
Biden’s hapless efforts, including the establishment of The Red Sea Coalition, failed to stymie the Houthis. Israel so far has been unable to stop them, despite a bombing campaign against them in Yemen.
The violation is an established modus operandi with terrorists. They never honor negotiated agreements and ceasefires. They only buy time to regroup.
Now after attacking and killing people, they are hiding behind another promise, ostensibly in hopes of offsetting any US retaliation.
The Houthis have reaffirmed their commitment to ensuring the freedom of navigation in the Red Sea for all parties “except Israel and those who support it,” just hours after the United States reported casualties among the crew of a vessel attacked by the group.
Jihadists are driven by Islamic religious zeal. The foot soldiers of the jihad are supported by Muslim countries — in this case, Iran. They don’t surrender. They must be defeated. They view negotiations as weakness and appeasement, and exploit the opportunities to buy more time. The U.S. military spent hundreds of millions of dollars earlier this year in a six-week barrage intended to stop the Iran-backed Houthi rebels in Yemen from targeting ships in the Red Sea.
Now, just two months after President Donald Trump received assurances “that they wouldn’t be shooting at ships anymore,” it appears the Houthis are back at it.
They claimed responsibility for an attack Sunday on a bulk carrier that eventually sank, and they are being blamed by the U.S. and European Union for another on a cargo ship the following day. That attack killed at least three mariners and wounded two others, The Associated Press reported.
The renewed attacks come as the U.S. tries to broker an end to the war between Israel and Hamas while also reopening diplomatic talks with Iran.
Experts say the resumption highlights the Houthis’ durability, making the U.S. the latest adversary facing the challenge of figuring out how to deal with a militant group that has fended off all previous military efforts to dislodge them from power….

Now, the US needs to have assets overhead. Any missile launcher? Blow it up. Any military activity? Blow it up.
Full blockade. Any ships trying to go to Houthi-controlled areas are searched. If military equipment is found, ship is seized and sold, proceeds to pay off those who suffered losses from the Houthi attacks. Officers tried. No crew released even if innocent until hostages released.
