Zohran Mamdani is the odds-on favorite to become the next mayor of New York, and that’s bad news, because the man is, among other things, an out-and-out Communist (although he himself, of course, denies it) who doesn’t think there should be any billionaires and wants to establish “free” grocery stores, that is, groceries that working people pay for so that people who don’t work can enjoy goods they didn’t pay for. He has also sparked controversy by refusing to denounce the phrase “Globalize the Intifada,” which looks to any sane person like a call for violence against Jews all over the world. Now even Al Sharpton, who is no stranger to charges of antisemitism, has had enough.

By the rules of Islam, can there be such a thing as a “Muslim socialist “?
I know that capitalism is fully Islamic, or at least a certain type of capitalism where a few families hoard all the wealth while the rest barely scrape by. See Pakistan, or any of the Arab emirates.
But I’m not sure about socialism’s place in Islam. Hence my query.

Muslims in Indonesia use the term communist as an insult, so there is now way “communist muslim” exist. They think communists are atheists so a muslim can not be a communist.
Islam is a tool to overpower people including other muslims. It is not about sharing wealth but it is about grabbing wealth including by force, using violence and religion.

I also disagree w/ anybody who calls this guy a socialist. A socialist is essentially what the Social Democrats used to be in Europe during the Cold War: I doubt that there are many real socialists left. Those of them who embraced the Left are now full blown communists, like Mamdani, AOC, Rashida, Ilhan, Jayapal, et al. Then there are centrists like Jillian Michaels who have pretty much stayed where they are, and are now covered by the GOP. Essentially, socialists are an extinct breed: parties that used to be socialist are now de-facto communist, and the people who used to be socialist are now either dead, addled or new converts to communism
Only way today’s communists are different from the ones during the Cold War: their embrace of LGBTQIA+ as well as Racial hatred. Actually, during Lenin, the Soviets did try embracing the LGB (TQ… were not invented yet, that was a much later invention of John Mooney), but saw a major population shortfall. Stalin made it a point to resume the crackdown on that, and the Soviets have never looked back since, even after the Cold War. On the racial hatred, the Soviets gave each group their own republics or autonomous republics, while to some extent practicing some affirmative action against the Russkie population. Those are the only differences b/w Soviet communists of yesterday and today’s Western commies

In long ago movies and some sitcoms, someone would *promise* this or that, and the camera would then focus on the hand held behind the back, fingers crossed.
Now, there are mozscummy dross every where, and in places where they have not yet been seated where they wish, or have not yet been knighted, they just lie when asked to be more along the lines of not attacking anyone.
It won’t do a bit of good, or make a hill-of-beans difference if the goon promises al dulton that he will tone it down and show some little respect for the feelings of the many Jews in NYCs hoods.
If he believes it will seal his election, he might do as dullton asks him; but he may believe he has it all sewn up and just laugh it off.
