The left is in the midst of a concerted effort to rewrite American history and make Americans ashamed of the very aspects of our heritage that they should most celebrate. As part of this sinister endeavor, now the Orwellian leftist revisionists have taken aim at American pop culture, presenting achievements that have captured the imagination of the entire world as reflections of our rotten, racist, desperately corrupt society that is in dire need of redemption via a strong dose of socialist internationalism. Now the Trump administration has taken aim at this dangerous and ridiculous revisionism.Fox News reported Saturday that the Trump administration official Lindsey Halligan has taken issue with the decidedly leftist slant of the National Museum of American History’s Entertainment Nation exhibit, which is devoted to American pop culture. Halligan said: “American taxpayers should not be funding institutions that undermine our country or promote one-sided, divisive political narratives. The Smithsonian Institution should present history in a way that is accurate, balanced, and consistent with the values that make the United States of America exceptional.”
It certainly isn’t doing that now. Instead, the exhibit is one long advertisement for how bad America and those who love it are, and how much the country needs to take a sharp turn left. The exhibit on “Star Wars” (the original movie, not sequel #132) is a particularly ham-handed example of how the exhibit presents pop culture with far-left assumptions that most Americans do not share. “Star Wars, the blockbuster Hollywood space saga,” it says, “inspired a nation in dire need of a new hope.” Oh, that “new hope” bit was so deft that the leftist wonk who came up with it likely got congratulations from the people in cubicles as far as three rows away. After that comes the leftist wallop.
“By the mid-1970s, the nation found itself reeling from its loss in Vietnam and revelations about Richard Nixon’s dirty-tricks presidency. In response, Star Wars creator George Lucas offered a tale set ‘in a galaxy far, far away’ where a struggling republic was fighting for survival. The saga’s motley heroes — a Jedi farm boy, a princess, a pirate, a Wookiee pilot, even droids — inspired hope and raised an enduring question: How can we build a virtuous republic?”
Wait a minute. It’s highly questionable in the first place that “Star Wars” was a meant to be a “response” to Vietnam and Watergate, but the far-left slant makes it all even worse. The Smithsonian conveniently fails to mention that Vietnam was a loss because the left in America made it impossible to win, and that Watergate was a highly partisan affair in which self-righteous Democrats used lawfare against a popular Republican president (sound familiar?).

I wonder to what extent, if any, has DOGE touched the Smithsonian. If the Kennedy Center could have a complete makeover, so should the Smithsonian. In fact, all the heritage places should be purged of woke management, and have people dedicated to the original missions of those institutions installed in their place

Sorry to drop a wrench into the whole “America loses wars” scenario because it’s the wrong conclusion.
First, you must define if winning includes occupation which also redefines losing.
Second, the Left’s notion of winning is based on the idea that a nation can actually win a modern war without the consent of both nation’s citizens. The US youth and Leftist opposition to the Vietnam War led to its stopping. However, if occupation is a necessary condition to win, Vietnam was never, “winnable”.
What makes Afghanistan, Iraq, Iran, Syria, etc, wars unwinnable? Islam. They can’t be occupied by infidels. An infidel nation might think it has succeeded until the guerilla war begins, another Islamic group takes over, or the old regime returns. With today’s fluid movement of arms, any nation’s citizens can become armed to reject an occupier.
In WW2, the German population was worn out from death and fire bombing. After Hiroshima and Nagasaki the God-like Hirohito commanded his citizens to accept some occupation. Otherwise, from the Left’s perception the US would have “lost” WW2. The Western occupation of Europe, only by similar Christian culture, was unique. The Soviet Empire was another matter of a communist religion controlling its vassals with brutal force.
A nation can “kind-of” win. Considering the ultimate war in which all the other nation’s people were killed and the infrastructure is a radiating, hostile-to-life, mess, what did you win?
The US could nuke a hostile Islamic nation into the leaders submission. How peaceful do you think the occupation would be? History lesson – Never start a war with a nation which can’t be successfully occupied – you cannot win to your benefit.
Islam is a never-ending existential threat to Israel. No end to attacks upon it by the Islamic culture of the region should be expected, regardless of any concessions such as a Palestinian State. From the Islamic view it is an occupation by the ultimate infidels.
The US must continue supporting Israel, reminding Islam that it too has limits to its forever warfare, if for no other reason than israel is a true democracy.

They jailed Luke Skywalker [ Tommy Robinson ] and confiscated his light-sabre because he told them where he wanted to stick it. The forces of good are so split with half a dozen idiot parties, all who believe they are the only way forward which allowed the evil to take control. Is their any hope? I wonder if the Smithsonian will come to the UK.??

I went to the circus and have seen many on tv. I actually lived in a house owned by some circus performers. I never knew it was all about taking over the countries where elephants and big cats roam free. That *fact* whizzed right by me.

In an episode of “Star Trek,” the Captain, Mr. Spock, and the others, visited a planet where there was turmoil (aren’t they all?) and at the end, the planet’s resident showed Kirk an American flag.
Did the Smithsonian miss that one for propaganda about colonialism?

Try telling that to the Wright Brothers! The Smithsonian spent decades falsely claiming that their own government-sponsored project to achieve powered flight in a heavier-than-air machine – (Professor Langley’s “The Great Aerodrome”) – was the first machine capable of flight – even if it hadn’t actually flown before the Wright brother’s machine did.
They actually went so far as to collude with Glen Curtiss to rebuild Langley’s machine using aerodynamic and structural design elements “borrowed” from the Wrights so that it would eventually fly, in an attempt to save their reputation and help Curtiss avoid paying patent royalties to the Wrights.
