When Trump imposed his diktat on Israel and Iran, requiring both parties to agree to a ceasefire, Israel agreed, reluctantly, and Iran did so, relievedly. At the time, the IDF was conducting the most ferocious assault of the 12-day war on military targets in Tehran. But Israel promptly stopped its attacks when the ceasefire went into effect. Iran, however, did not, for it sent another volley of rockets into Israel after the ceasefire was in force. The IDF, of course, had to answer such a violation, and it did so, in minimal fashion, by attacking a single Iranian radar site.
No one should have found fault with Israel for answering the Iranian attack with an attack of its own. But one person was furious with the Jewish state for daring to respond: Donald Trump. As he was about to leave for a NATO summit in The Hague, he made a remarkable display of anti-Israel animus. Here is what he had to say: “Trump slams Israel for responding to Iranian ceasefire violation,” by Danielle Cohen, Jewish Insider, June 24, 2025:
President Donald Trump blasted Israel on Tuesday morning after it said it would respond to Iranian violations of the ceasefire, telling reporters, “I’m not happy with Iran, but I’m really not happy with Israel.”
“We have two countries that have been fighting for so long and so hard that they don’t know what the f*** they’re doing,” he continued, speaking to reporters at Joint Base Andrews before taking off to attend the NATO summit at The Hague, Netherlands.
The IDF intercepted two missiles from Iran at about 10:30 a.m. Israel time, just hours after the ceasefire announced by Trump on Monday night came into effect. Israeli Defense Minister Israel Katz said he “instructed the IDF to respond forcefully to the violation of the ceasefire by Iran with powerful strikes against regime targets in the heart of Tehran.”
Asked about Iran’s violation of the ceasefire, Trump said, “They violated it but Israel violated it, too. Israel, as soon as we made the deal, came out and they dropped a load of bombs the likes of which I’ve never seen before. … I’m not happy with Iran, either, but I’m really not happy if Israel is going out this morning because of one rocket that didn’t land, that was shot perhaps by mistake, that didn’t land. I’m not happy about that.”
No, Israel did not “violate the ceasefire.” It did conduct a wide-ranging series of airstrikes on military targets in Tehran in the 24 hours just before the ceasefire was to go into effect — “the likes of which I’ve never seen before,” said Trump. And then, when the ceasefire was supposed to begin, Israel dutifully stopped its attack on Iran. Prime Minister Netanyahu made clear that Israel would, of course, respond to any violation of the ceasefire by Iran. The Iranians, no doubt hoping Israel would not dare to “break the ceasefire” and antagonize the American president, after the ceasefire had been declared then launched rockets into Israel. The IDF responded in the most minimal fashion, by attacking a single radar site. Trump calls that a “violation” of the ceasefire. A response to a violation by the other party is not itself a violation of the ceasefire, but an attempt to make sure that the ceasefire will be observed.
What has come over Trump? Is he angry with Israel’s lack of enthusiasm for his diktat? Perhaps he is annoyed to discover that not everyone, including the Israelis, is convinced that the American bombing at Fordow was a complete success, as he had claimed? After all, since the American attack, the Israelis have again bombed Fordow, a sign that they did not believe that the nuclear facility at Fordow had been “completely obliterated,” and that still more attacks would be necessary.
In Israel, the prime minister has contained himself from responding to Trump’s lashing out at Israel. But if Iran breaks the ceasefire again, the IDF will not hold back. And Trump should clear the air by publicly declaring that it is Iran that has been violating the ceasefire, and Israel has done nothing more than respond. But Trump being Trump — “never apologize, never explain” — he won’t.

Did not the russians admit that iran was working on the nuclear thingy so they could ‘wipe Israel off the map’? And did he not say they would be helped by other nations, and that they would continue to work to gain nuclear power?
This cursing Israel, sounds to me, like a parent who has two sons and one son is always getting in trouble, while the other one tries to behave properly and obediently. Due to an argument, which leads to an actual fight, the *good* kid gets the most of the blame because “he knows better.”

I would be damn careful criticizing Trump for not standing behind every demand of Netanyahu. Trump is a wild card, not beholding to anyone. He can stop supporting Israel in spite of AIPAC in his last term.
For someone not versed in the doctrines of Islam, and not realizing Iran’s intention to destroy Israel, it looks the opposite of reality and those people are pushing for sanctions on Israel and a Palestinian State. Better they do not have extra ammunition.

Otherwise, there is almost no aspect of domestic policy that Trump has been ignoring – from border security & deportations to new energy policy to new trade deals w/ everyone and across the board tariffs of 10%. Nobody is asking you to put US troops anywhere, or even bomb those sites (as you eventually did). Well said all. I say again, President Trump does not understand the ‘intrigues’ of Islam – to his detriment. He badly needs someone in his administration who can advise and guide him in this area. This is a serious issue. The way I see it, he is trying to please two sides in total opposition to each other. This is actually ‘sitting on the fence’ or as we would say here in Trinidad, he is putting himself in ‘one big monkey pants!’ A stance like this can never end well. So……… something must change.

The only ‘peace process’ that works, with the Ummah, is what Churchill called “the arbitration of the sword”. It’s a valid clam some things under the rule of the Shah of Iran bad. Nevertheless, after the Islamic Revolution in 1979 and the establishment of what is known as the “Islamic Republic of Iran” things went not from “bad to worse” but it skiped the word “worse,” to bad to the very worst possible too the most horrific extent possible.
To put it another way, the government of the Shah of Iran had its faults .Still, under the tyranny of that “mullah regime” of Iran , to say it “has some faults” isn’t exactly true, because the word “some” would put a limit on the number of things that ‘s wrong with that Islamic regime of Iran.

Trump probably figures that bombing the nukes was all that was needed. Now, he can claim victory, that only HE could have won the war, and now he can make a “deal” with those Mullahs (or real estate developers?) in Teheran and carry the torch at the next macho olympics.
I think Netanyahu made a mistake in involving Trump. It would have been better to have been more patient and continued the campaign independently despite the tactical difficulties with some of the sites. Trump is just such a narcissist and dope that his “help” was just not worth it.
By the way, have you seen how he is allowing Iran to export oil to China. All for the “deal”. Barf.
