President Trump has come down hard on the Supreme Leader in a post on social media on June 27. He was in no mood to go easy on Iran, because he was clearly infuriated at the “tone” of the Supreme Leader’s latest comment on America, that Trump characterized as “a statement of anger, hatred, and disgust.” More on his response can be found here: “Trump says he would consider bombing Iran again, drops sanctions relief plan,” Straits Times, June 28, 2025:
US President Donald Trump sharply criticised Iran’s Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei on June 27, dropped plans to lift sanctions on Iran and said he would consider bombing Iran again if Tehran is enriching uranium to worrisome levels.
Mr Trump reacted sternly to Ayatollah Khamenei’s first remarks after a 12-day conflict with Israel that ended when the United States launched bombing raids last weekend against Iranian nuclear sites.
Mr Khamenei said Iran “slapped America in the face” by launching an attack against a major US base in Qatar following the US bombing raids. Mr Khamenei also said Iran would never surrender.
That “slap in the face” was more like a love pat. The Iran regime needed to do something to show its people that it was retaliating for the massive American attack on Fordow, Natanz and Isfahan, but it was fearful of causing any real damage to the Americans, knowing what the response would be. So the Iranians warned the Qataris exactly when an attack on the Al-Udeid airbase would be launched, giving the Americans, who had in turn been informed by the Qataris, time to prepare, and even to evacuate parts of the base deemed most vulnerable. The Qataris, too, having been given a heads-up by the Iranians, were ready with their anti-missile defense system, and managed to intercept all of the handful of missiles Iran launched. As a consequence, there was nether loss of life nor damage to the American airmen, planes, or quarters. Tehran’s honor was saved. The Iranian government declared that its attack had caused great damage. Meanwhile, the Americans knew the pitiful attack was not worth responding to, with Trump calling it “a very weak response.”
Mr Trump said he had spared Mr Khamenei’s life. US officials told Reuters on June 15 that Mr Trump had vetoed an Israeli plan to kill the Supreme Leader.
“His Country was decimated, his three evil Nuclear Sites were OBLITERATED, and I knew EXACTLY where he was sheltered, and would not let Israel, or the US Armed Forces, by far the Greatest and Most Powerful in the World, terminate his life,” Mr Trump said in a social media post.
“I SAVED HIM FROM A VERY UGLY AND IGNOMINIOUS DEATH.”
Iran said a potential nuclear deal was conditional on the US ending its “disrespectful tone” toward the Supreme Leader.
“If President Trump is genuine about wanting a deal, he should put aside the disrespectful and unacceptable tone towards Iran’s Supreme Leader, Grand Ayatollah Khamenei, and stop hurting his millions of heartfelt followers,” Iran’s Foreign Minister Abbas Araghchi said in a post on X in the early hours of June 28.
Trump’s “disrespectful and unacceptable tone” has got the Supreme Leader’s knickers in a twist. He can’t get no respect in Washington. Meanwhile, here is Trump threatening to bomb Iran’s nuclear program again if he thinks Tehran has renewed enriching uranium. What’s a poor Muslim fanatic ruling over 92 million volatile Iranians to do?
Mr Trump also said that in recent days he had been working on the possible removal of sanctions on Iran to give it a chance for a speedy recovery. He said he had now abandoned that effort.
“I get hit with a statement of anger, hatred and disgust, and immediately dropped all work on sanction relief, and more,” he said….
That’s it. Trump, in turn, doesn’t like the way he is spoken about by the Iranians, after all he’s done for the Supreme Leader, even going so far as to prevent the Israelis from killing him.
Mr Trump said he would like inspectors from the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA) or another respected source to be able to inspect Iran’s nuclear sites after they were bombed last weekend.
Mr Trump has rejected any suggestion that damage to the sites was not as profound as he has said.
The agency’s chief, Mr Rafael Grossi, said on June 25 that ensuring the resumption of IAEA inspections was his top priority as none had taken place since Israel began bombing on June 13.
However, Iran’s Parliament approved moves on June 25 to suspend such inspections. Mr Araghchi indicated on June 27 that Tehran may reject any request by the head of the agency for visits to Iranian nuclear sites.
Now why would Iran be so uncooperative with the IAEA? There are two possibilities. Either Iran has something to hide, some stash of enriched uranium still intact at one of those bombed sites, and doesn’t what the world to find out about it. Or there is nothing for the IAEA to find, and perhaps there is evidence that there never was any enriched uranium produced at the site. That, too, is something Iran would not want to be known.
Trump is miffed at Iran’s tone, and at what he sees as disrespect toward him — for Trump all geopolitics is personal (cf. “I had a very nice chat with President Putin, he even sent me a present”; “Zelensky doesn’t have any cards to play and he was disrespectful to me”). He immediately decided that he won’t, after all, lift sanctions on Iran as he had just been planning to do. That decision to keep economic sanctions in place could potentially cost Iran tens of billions of dollars. There’s only one certain way for Iran to win back this mercurial man’s favor: offer him a prime piece of real estate in central Iran where he can build another Trump Tower. It just might work.

Give a Muslim radical government or what they have that “passes” for a government an inch and they will use it to insult you. Give them two inches and they will try to stab you. You unfortunately can give them no room to concoct a scheme to harm you or better yet, kill you. Just as we said to the Nazis and fanatical Japanese in WW II, only an unconditional surrender will satisfy us and that means you cannot be left on your own to develop anything resembling a nuclear weapon, even a “dirty” bomb.
Trump was actually very nice to Iran. Not only not giving the go ahead to end the Ayatollah’s life but bombing the nuclear facilities only once rather than coming back with B-52’s and carpet bombing everything after the B2’s did their job. The Iranians still do not know what losing a war means and that is a lesson that needs to be taught to them. We need to hear from them “Please stop! We will agree to do whatever you want us to accept but please stop.”

The United States and the State of Israel do have every right to have further strikes at the missile bases, f necessary, in that hostile America and Israel hating terrorist supporting Islamic regime of Iran
For example, that aggressive Islamic tyranny has the constant public theme of “Death to America” and “death to Israel.” Those vicious words are far more that a slogan, it’s an actual policy of that “mullah regime” of Iran.

I no longer care what Trump does: Israel should consider it a ceasefire violation if Iran resumes the uranium enrichment, but this time have a goal of taking out the regime. I do think that having been bombed, they’re not likely to resume it soon. Particularly w/ the regime struggling to survive: Mossad can maybe help topple it

The people of Iran who do NOT agree or support the current regime have little chance of taking it down. The radical islamist within the regime are unlikely to overthrow the existing leadership.
Without outside help it won’t happen.

Those despots of that aggressive and hostile Islamic regime haven’t abandoned their jihadist goal to destroy the State of Israel and eliminating all the Jewish people on the face of the earth. So they r will resume that jihad agenda of obtaining nuclear weapons.
Furthermore, those tyrants who so much terrible power in Iran haven’t given up on their Islamic schemes against America and all other Western countries.
The belligerent and bellicose Muslim dictators of Iran can’t be reasoned with. They will not respond to logic. The only language that are able to understand in that of being on the receiving end of a powerful military might.
Therefore, President Trump has every right to order further bombing and additional air strike and Iran missile based and strategy jihad military commend centers.
As Thomas Jefferson had so rightly and wisely declared “with every barbarous people…force is law.”

Thanks for your comments. The U S bombing Iran’s nuke sites, after Israel so beautifully cleared the field, is in America’s interest. It is “America First”.
I wish Trump understood Islam. I wish he understood Islam’s strategy and tactics. It would make him more effective, even if he took the erroneous fighting against “Radical Islam” approach. I’m just relieved he took the insults personally and won’t be lifting the sanctions –at least not today.
