The Demographic Transformation in Europe, and the Response

New data showing the percentage of people not speaking German at home in Austria underlines just how massive the demographic transformation has been in the country, according to a Hungarian economist.

“Ominous winds are blowing in the West,” economist Géza Sebestyén posted on his Facebook page, along with some astonishing data.

“According to the latest Austrian statistics, one-third (32.8%) of primary school pupils in Austria are non-native German speakers. In cities, the proportion is even higher: in Salzburg, for example, one in two children (51.8%) do not speak German at home,” he noted.

One-third of primary school children consist of migrants who are overwhelmingly Muslim. In Austria, they now come primarily from Syria and Turkey. In some major cities, Muslims constitute more than half of the population of children.

The post featured a map breaking down each region of Austria, showing the huge share of children not speaking German at home as their first language.

Sebestyén, the head of the MCC Economic Policy Workshop, showed that Hungary could have ended up like Austria if it had not followed the policies of Viktor Orbán, who sealed the border and rejected mass immigration. He warned that Hungary could feature a multiculturalism that Austrians increasingly find alienating and fraught with crime.

“In some districts of Vienna,” his post continues, “the situation is already dramatic: in Brigittenau and Margareten, the proportion of people who do not speak German in the family environment is over 80%.”

Sebestyén called the latest data “signs of social transformation that are shaping the future of Europe,” a trend that, if continued, will lead to Austria losing its character as a nation-state. It will, he says, “become one of the EU member states for whom a ‘Europe of nations’ is a nightmare.”…

But not all the news on immigration in Europe is bad. One by one, the nations of Europe have awakened to that “ethnic and cultural transformation” that is the result of the influx of Muslim migrants. And one by one, they are now doing something about it.

The members of the EU have for too long allowed their immigration policies to be decided in Brussels. And in Brussels, instead of blocking Muslim immigration, the EU bureaucrats want to force the nations in the EU to accept country quotas on immigrants, decided not by those countries, but by the European Council. Only if the nation-states can retake that power can the relentless demographic assault by Muslims be halted.

Viktor Orban, prime minister of Hungary, has shown he way: he will not allow a single immigrant into his country. Prime Minister Donald Tusk of Poland has not banned all immigrants, but has made clear that his country’s immigration policy will be decided in Warsaw, not in Brussels. On May 14, following the European Council vote on establishing national quotas for each of the EU member states, Prime Minister Tusk reiterated his previous pledge that the government would strive to ensure that Poland “will not have to accept any migrants, that the EU will not impose any migrant quotas on us.” Furthermore, Poland has been deporting any illegal migrants found in the country.

Czechia is the third EU member that refuses to take in any “refugees.” And other countries are stiffening their opposition to accepting the quotes set in Brussels. Finland, for example, has stated that “national security comes first” in deciding which, and how many, immigrants to admit. Germany has recently tightened its policies, too. As of May 12, German Interior Minister Alexander Dobrindt has ordered asylum seekers to be turned away at the border. Obviously the increasing popularity of the anti-Muslim immigrant party, Alternative für Deutschland, is having its effect on the government’s move rightward.

On May 14, Austria ended the “family reunification” policy according to which a single family member accepted into Austria could then bring over his whole family, and Muslim families tend to be very large. France’s Interior Minister Bruno Retailleau has tightened migration controls and brought the number of deportations to a new high. Italy has tightened its citizenship laws, making citizenship available only to those with Italian parents or grandparents. The government has cracked down on NGOs helping migrants from North Africa arrive by sea.

One by one, the European nations have been waking up to the demographic threat posed to their indigenous populations by the presence of tens of millions of Muslims, and everywhere they are showing a willingness to move to the right to tighten the screws on would-be immigrants, who come to Europe hoping to take advantage of every benefit — housing, food, medical care, education, family allowances, and more — that the generous welfare states of Western Europe make available. The lax immigration policies are now being rolled back. Asylum claims are no longer being accepted from Muslim lands, and, in fact, are overwhelmingly being immediately rejected. And where “asylum” was previously granted, a change in Arab regimes means that the “asylum” is no longer necessary. Thus the Europeans are intent on sending home millions of Syrian “refugees” who can return safely now that the Assad regime has fallen.

    • In Costco, I’ve noticed halal meat – mainly goat – in a section, but it is separated from the main meat sections, since that includes pork as well. When I shop, it’s mainly the pork I buy, since there is no way they can even mislabel it halal

      Costco is otherwise great, other than their Leftist bent

  5. What’s ongoing makes the ending of ancient civilization in the West in the 5th century AD look like simply a major pause in the advance of the West.

    With what is happening now, unless the West takes drastic measures (prediction: it won’t) to rid itself of the great enemy within which is Islam (and aided by many clueless Westerners who are not always but overwhelmingly Leftist), we are living through, actually witnessing, a transformative age that is, yearly, eradicating the most enlightened civilization that has ever existed, i.e., Western Civilization.

    Frankly, I believe I will be dead before I witness the utter eradication of the West. I prefer it this way because better dead than see a debacle of mankind like no other in history. And the causes? Why they are indeed an unholy trinity—Islam, Leftism and utterly indefensible apathy and ignorance.

    Time for a BLT, a beer and a Beethoven symphony while I still have the chance. Mankind is sometimes not a collective idiot but ordinarily is so. Like now and arguably never more so. You betcha’.

    • Good summary of the situation, Wellington. What a terrible disaster we are watching unfolding. Islam, a complete disgrace to the human race may win and succeed in dragging humanity back to living the life that those 7th century knuckle draggers lived.

    • Ironically, some muslim countries, like UAE, are becoming more livable as a result. I recall the Emirati sheikh who once warned the West of pretending that they know how to handle islam better than the Arabs. I do think that both the Emirates and Saudi Arabia have done an impressive job of cracking down on shariah practices, despite it being a permanent part of their history, as opposed to Western countries, that have done a lousy job of keeping out shariah pracices, despite being overwhelmingly non-muslim

  8. Once upon a time, Hungarians were Austrians, being a part of the Austro-Hungarian empire. If this continues and native Austrians flee to Hungary, they’ll probably become Hungarians, and substitute German for Hungarian. What a historical twist that would be for both countries

      He warned that Austria could feature a multiculturalism that non-muslim Austrians would increasingly find alienating and fraught with crime.

    • Think he said that had Hungary not adapted the policies of Prime Minister Viktor Orban, it could have been faced w/ the same predicament as Austria

        • Yes, somehistory, it can sometimes be agreeable to agree but it would more interesting and informative for me if you could explain your reasons for agreeing -that is, details of your independent analysis which just comes to the same conclusion as Wellington’s.

        Your explanation would make sense to me if at some time in the past Sebestyén was a consultant to the Hungarian Govt but I doubt that his Workshop is a partisan advisory group.

        The text doesn’t say
        “He warned Hungary that…”

        It says
        “He warned that Hungary…”.

        If the text stated
        “He had warned that Hungary…”.
        then, with that, I could also accept your explanation.
        But I still think it’s a mix-up.
        Anyway it’s a minor thing (as Napoleon signalled to Wellington after losing at Waterloo – didn’t he?) and I hope you won’t think I’m being a contrarian. You know more than I do and I learn things from your regular commentary.
