Syria: Christians take to the streets, ‘Raise your crosses. We do not fear your death threats!’

This is the courage that is needed in the face of the jihad violence in the West, not the near-universal cowardice and pusillanimity that we see from all too many Christian leaders and nearly everyone else.

  1. True Christians know that if they are killed, they are promised a resurrection. It gives one courage to know and have faith that Christ is “with you (us) all the days until the conclusion of a system of things.”

    • And what happens when all the Christians have been martyred and the Christian churches defiled and the Bible left unread? What then for Christianity. Will there be a Christian religion by the end of this decade? The end of the next? What exactly happens to the Christian religion after all the Christians have been martyred and been resurrected as promised by Jesus in the Bible.

      • YHWH, Jesus Christ, will appear before such time occurs(Matthew 24:29-, etc.). Jesus will destroy Islam and its believers at his second coming as taught in the Bible. We must be faithful and believe when the LORD returns for his people, Israel and all Christian believers.

      • Dear Sir, when the 7 yr. tribulation period starts, all Christians will b in heaven. I expect this to happen soon. 3.5 yrs. into tribulation, the Jews who made a pact w/ the antichrist, will c they’ve made a terrible mistake & then realize they missed the coming of our Messiah. They will end up being the evangelists God calked them to b 5000 yrs.ago. Don’t worry, Christianity will b around 4 ever, bcuz our Almighty God lives FOREVERMORE.

      • There is an old saying “The blood of the martyrs is the seed of the church”. It describes the way that God uses the witness of the martyrs to bring new people to faith. So what will probably happen is that the Muslims will be stunned and bewildered to find that every time they kill Christians, more are converted to replace them.

    • I don’t think Christians need to be sheep going to the slaughter. Maybe god expects us to fight for our right to worship him now so others in the future can learn of his glory.

      • Jesus gave clear instructions. And He also gave numerous warnings. He said Christians would “be haled before kings and governors” and He said that Christians would be persecuted even to their death. He said, “When they persecute you in one city, flee to the next.”
        There is no Scripture in which He tells Christians to get together and fight it out against those who persecute and murder them.
        That’s where **faith** plays such a large part. A Christian is allowed self-defense; but when the world turns against all Christians as it is apparent today that has happened, **faith** tells us to put our trust in His promises.

        Christians should not listen to other humans. Christians have their commandments from Jesus Christ. And He is the One saying His people are like “sheep,” and He is our Shepherd.

  2. Good for them. Hopefully, HTS can be persuaded to protect them, if for no other reason, to keep alive the perception they seem to have created in the West that they are no longer al Qaeda or ISIS

    • I don’t think that HTS–Jihad terror group Hay’at Tahrir al-Shams–is going to be protecting Christians.

  3. The new Roman Catholic Pope is MIA in at least defending these Christian brothers and sisters from another branch of the Catholic faith? At least give a speech to pray for these Christians that are taking a stand to defend these Christians who are willing to die for their .faith As most of Europe and alot of North America Roman Catholics take their faith lightly who face no or very little chance of getting killed for practicing their faith these people face the greatest challenge to die for believing in the trinity ,die for practicing Christianity .

      • More & more I’ve come to believe that RC Church is swamped with mumbo jumbo.
        The Catholic Church thinks it is Christianity, and spends most of its time telling people what they must, and must not, do.
        The True Church exists in the hearts of believers in Jesus.
        Jesus speaks to us, before the Catholic Church does.

  4. Christians need to be more Judaic. They have lost their jewish basis and as such I believe they do not have the whole truth of Jesus Christ. The Christians in Syria have not forgotten that Jesus was a devout Jew who preached from Jewish scripture. Syria needs serious help and Jolani is not intelligent enough to be a multi culturalistic ruler. Im not sure he would even make an effective despot.

    • Not all Christians are Jews. Most Christians are Gentiles. You can’t “lose” something you never had.

      Jesus told His disciples that He was giving them a “new” Way. Christians understand that and act accordingly.

  8. As regards Islam.

    I don’t think it is necessary to assume or demand that pure pacifism is the only proper Christian response…

    After all: very few of even the most convinced Christians are prepared to demand that the police and military of our own western countries be disbanded and done away with; or that if there is a psycho serial killer on the loose, targeting – say – little girls in Sunday School, the cops should NOT do their utmost to catch him and neutralise him – whether by execution or by locking him up for life so that he cannot continue to do harm.

    Why do some Christian commenters here seem so invested in the proposition that Islam cannot and will not be defeated unless by the Second Coming… and that the ONLY advisable response to the jihad is.. pacifist submission to being butchered wholesale? That one must NOT resist? One must NOT lift a finger to prevent, say, the seizure of one’s underaged daughter, to be stuffed into a harem, spiritually and psychologically destroyed by YEARS of sadistic sexual torture, force-bred to produce children who will be trained to become blank-eyed breeders and sadistic rapist-murderers??

    Where is Christian Nubia, today? Algeria, Morocco, Tunisia, Libya? Egypt was wholly Christian. The Copts are now a dwindling minority. And, tragically, many who call themselves Arabs, in Egypt, would be – if one looked at the DNA – the descendants of Copts who simply.. broke, under the pressure of Isalm.. or who were kidnapped as children and systematically psychologically destroyed.

    What if Islam is just… a psycho serial killer writ large? Really, no different from Hitler’s third reich, just longer-lived and even nastier because sneakier? Then St Paul’s remarks about authorities being given the sword to restrain evil, apply, just as they apply to the police force.

    Other death cults have ceased to exist. No-one has their heart cut out at the top of Aztec pyramids any more. No maenads run screaming through the woods to tear people to pieces.

    So… why is it so impossible to frame the mohammedan mob as … something that can and should be physically challenged, resisted, contained, deprived of the means to do harm (as the Israelis have just deprived Iran), pushed back behind walls? And pushed back, and pushed back, and pushed back?

    Let us remember that none of us would be here, as free people, with the technology that we have, if no-one had been willing to fight in the Battle of Tours in 732, or at Malta in 1565, or at Lepanto in 1571, or if no-one had been willing to go into battle to rescue Vienna from the Muslim Turks in 1683. If those battles had not been fought, and won, by the non-Muslim fighters, there would have been.. no European Christian middle ages; no Reformation. No Shakespeare. No Bach. No Rembrandt. Most likely no modern medicine AT ALL. No Hubble space telescope. NONE of the secular and NONE of the religious attainments that were possible for socieites that were NOT blighted by Islam.

    No Bible Society and no great missionary societies spreading out across the world to translate the Bible and preach the gospel…. for those of our forebears who were not killed, or seized as children and brainwashed into Islam, to become blank-eyed breeders or flaming-eyed mass-murderers, would be eking out a wretched living as near-slave dhimmis, barely surviving.

    Do those who, today, seem to find exhilarating the prospect of having their heads cut off by a jihadi REGRET that our mostly-Christian forebears went into battle to RESIST forcible islamisation; to halt and reverse Islamic conquest??? Do they wish that the Spanish had never reconquered their country? do they wish that the Muslim Turks were still in imperial occupation of Greece, Serbia, Bulgaria? The Greeks fought to throw off the Muslim yoke. Christian Abyssinia in their natural fortress fought to remain an island of free people amidst a sea of Islam.

    Was that unchristian of them? Should they, instead, have not lifted a finger to resist but, rather, meekly submitted to the horrors of dhimmitude?

    • If by this shouting and many claims of some of us wanting to have our heads cut off and our daughters taken for sex slavery, you are addressing me, then you are way off base.

      A Christian has the right to self-defense….including defense of their family members.
      And those who fought islam as **a group** in the past, did as their consciences told them.

      Jesus gave instructions, commands and warnings. A Christian will do well to follow as closely as possible those Words from our Lord and *****Savior***** and remember His promises.

      We are living in “the time of the end.” God will bring an “end” to islam; an end to the evil that so far, man has not been able to completely defeat. The reason: it is satan’s last stand against God and mankind.

      This is why we were given the Revelation. Christians know and understand what will be, and how they should be “listening” to the Words, closely. Those with “ears,” listen and obey.
