Mail Fraud, Or, ‘I Love an Organisation That Starts with H’

Mohammad al-Mail, from Kuwait, was granted asylum by the U.K. in 2017. Why he deserved asylum in that country remains a puzzle. After all, Kuwait has not been persecuting any group of Arabs, so there was nothing from which he had to flee. And besides, had he needed to leave Kuwait, why did he have to come to the U.K., when there are nearly two dozen Arab states, and more than 50 Muslim nations, where he would fit in better? Could it be because he knew he could batten on the benefits that the U.K. offers those to whom it offers asylum — free or subsidized housing, free medical care, free education, family allowances, and more? Or that he could get away with expressing his support for terrorist groups that many Arab states would not tolerate?

Al-Mail was recently arrested by the British police for expressing support for the Hamas atrocities but managed to convince the authorities that they had misconstrued his remarks. A pro-Palestinian demonstrator who was arrested but not ultimately charged with terror charges after chanting support for the October 7 Hamas attacks has been identified as Mohammad al-Mail, a 27-year-old Kuwaiti national who was granted refugee status in Britain in 2017.

Mail reportedly shouted “I love the 7th of October” and “I like an organisation that starts with H” through a megaphone at an anti-Israel protest in Swiss Cottage, north-west London, last September.

“I love the 7th of October.” The meaning is clear: Al-Mail is declaring his “love” for the atrocities carried out that day by the terror group Hamas, when 6,000 of its members smashed into Israel and proceeded to rape, torture, mutilate (eyes gouged out, female breasts sliced off, male genitalia cut off). If he had said nothing else, isn’t that statement alone enough of “support for terrorism” to have his status as refugee stripped from him, and he, Mohammad al-Mail, deported back to Kuwait?

According to the Telegraph, despite being arrested on suspicion of terrorism offences, he was never charged by the Crown Prosecution Service….

Now why is that? This is one more example of the British authorities treating Muslims with kid gloves, the way the police in the U.K. did with all those Pakistanis in grooming gangs who ruined the lives of tens of thousands of British girls, for fear of being charged with “racism.”

Mail added: “Immediately, I answered, ‘It could be the Home Office’, you know, the ministry of the interior. ‘I love the ministry of the interior’, and so on.”

Everyone at the protest knew what he meant. When your previous sentence is “I love October 7” then the “H” in your next sentence — “I like an organization that starts with H” is hardly a mystery. But British officials pretended to believe his ludicrous explanation of his statement. When he yelled through his megaphone that “I like an organization that starts with H,” Mail claimed, tongue in cheek, that “I meant the Home Office.”

The Metropolitan Police twice referred his case to the CPS [Crown Prosecution Service] but prosecutors declined to bring charges, fearing it would be “speculation” to infer support for a proscribed group from his chant.

Is it really mere “speculation” to conclude that someone who has just praised Hamas’ atrocities on October 7, 2023 is also referring to Hamas — “H for Hamas” — when his very next sentence was “I like an organization that starts with H”? No one in his right mind could think that is only “speculation.”

Since being granted asylum, Mail seems to have used his campaign group, the Upper Hand Organisation, to promote an Islamist ideology which appears fundamentally at odds with British democratic values….

Why did Al-Mail call his group the “Upper Hand Organisation”? It’s because he wanted Muslims to gain the “upper hand” in Great Britain — another way of saying that “Islam is to dominate and not be dominated.”

He said: “Not every day is like October 7. If an opportunity arises, we must fully exploit it. If you strike, make it hurt.”

What could that mean? To my mind, it means he was encouraging others to emulate the attacks carried out by Hamas on October 7.

He has criticised Al-Qaeda, the Taliban and HTS for being too pragmatic, writing that such groups have “ultimately succumbed to the international system and failed to bring about significant change to the concept of jihad itself — jihad, which is understood as a struggle to establish Sharia on earth.”

Al-Mail is even more extreme, less willing to compromise or to tone down his calls for violence, less “pragmatic” even than Al-Qaeda and the Taliban. He wants Muslims to conduct jihad unremittingly, to bring about the imposition of the Sharia, the holy law of Islam, everywhere in the world. Islam, Mohammed Al-Mail knows, is “to dominate and not to be dominated.”

Through a megaphone Mohammed Al-Mail conveyed to a crowd of antisemites his delight in the Hamas rapes, tortures, mutilations, and murders of 1,200 Israelis by 6,000 members of Hamas. He declared his love for Hamas, that “organization that begins with an H.” Later, on a podcast, he told Muslims to emulate the attacks on October 7. He criticized Al-Qaeda and the Taliban for being too “pragmatic,” when what was needed from Muslims something much more fanatical and unyielding.

Al-Mail was not arrested, not even given a caution. He is walking free on the streets of London, haranguing Muslims on social media to “love” just as he does, what Hamas did on October 7, 2023.

His case can be compared to that of a Jewish man who in September 2024, at a Hezbollah rally in London, held up, for no more than 20-30 seconds, a placard with a mocking drawing of Hassan Nasrallah with a pager. Unlike Al-Mail, who got off scot-free for endorsing Hamas, the Jewish man was arrested for causing mental anguish to supporters of Hezbollah.

Think about that for a minute.
