If someone’s house is under attack and their family members are facing an ongoing risk of being slaughtered after many were murdered in previous attacks, it becomes an urgent matter to destroy the immediate threat by whatever means possible. Nonetheless, Smotrich is correct in his rejection of the use of jihadist militias to fight Hamas, since the strategy will certainly backfire and severely harm the longterm security of Israel. Also, jihadist militias are always backed by a higher influential power with long term missions, and Israel’s destruction is the goal of all jihadists.

In the case of Israel, jihadist militia in Gaza will not be fighting for Israel, but against Hamas. They will readily turn against Israel when the opportunity serves them, in order to expand the hegemony of the Sharia. Israel did a variation of this plan in the 1980s, when they armed Iran (yes, the same Iran who they are absolutely paranoid about today) in order to undermine Iraq, whose Osirak nuke reactor they had destroyed. Iran ultimately effectively won that war when Saddam invaded Kuwait and then settled w/ Iran. So arming jihadist groups in Gaza, or even ordinary Gazan citizens is a bad idea. It’s worth remembering that Gazan citizens were even more hostile than Hamas when some of the Israeli hostages were being released
No, the end goal should be the expulsion of everyone from Gaza. Resettle them in Libya, Somalia, Qatar, Yemen or anywhere else in the Arab empire
