Israel spent years preparing for the operation against Iran’s nuclear and missile programs, a security official tells The Times of Israel, including building a drone base inside Iran and smuggling precision weapons systems and commandos into the country.
The effort hinged on tight joint planning between the IDF and the Mossad intelligence agency.
According to the official, Mossad agents set up a drone base on Iranian soil near Tehran. The drones were activated overnight, striking surface-to-surface missile launchers aimed at Israel.
In addition, vehicles carrying weapons systems were smuggled into Iran.
These systems took out Iran’s air defenses and gave Israeli planes air supremacy and freedom of action over Iran.
The third covert effort was Mossad commandos deploying precision missiles near anti-aircraft sites in central Iran….

I agree w/ you, but such questions should be asked to Mossad or IDF. Why do they publish the hows of whatever they do?
Only reason that would make sense is that there are plenty of Iranians working w/ the Israelis that makes them confident enough to release such details

I have the same concern. We don’t need to know as much as it needs to be kept secret for the appropriate amount of time. I would like to know how it “got out”. Was it the government? An anonymous source? Who?
I have the same reaction when I watch videos about previous Mossad operations. I’d would appreciate hearing from anyone with more expertise in this subject as to why it’s ok to tell how the magic trick was done.
The Israeli’s are magnificent. A magnificence born of being held on “death ground” by your enemies. It’s a talent with a hideously high price tag. Their “lived experience” is death. Death tends to focus the mind.

That’s what’s called having cojones. I would have expected it to be based somewhere where one of Iran’s restive minorities, such as the Kurds or Balochis live, but they picked a place near Tehran. It would be like setting up an anti-Russian base near Moscow or an anti-US forwarding base near Arlington, VA
I suspect there are a lot of Iranians working w/ Israel on this: I doubt that the Israelis could have pulled all this off on their own. The god-like powers of Mossad are overstated

Thanks to what Kuwait and Saudi Arabia have been doing with Iran’s oppressed minorities, there is a lot of internal support for operations like this.

The only oppressed minorities in Iran are Kurds and Balochis. Azeris and Arabs are both shi’a, so don’t get persecuted much. The Arabs in Khuzestan are like their comrades in Basra, Karbala and Najaf – shi’a, not sunni
Given that, I’d be surprised if Saudi Arabia was working w/ them. As for Kuwait, it has been warming up to Iran in the last several years, and is somewhere b/w Bahrein and Qatar as far as relations w/ Iran go
