Men have sought it out in the Egyptian desert for fifteen centuries in order to seek God there. Today, however, the very existence of this venerable monastery, built on the order of the Roman Emperor Justinian in the sixth century, is under severe threat. The Egyptian government is taking steps that could lead to its closure, to the thoroughgoing alarm of Christians and all those who are concerned about human rights and religious freedom.

To answer your question, yes. Muslims. Not sure why. They don’t mention the ten commandments in their instruction manual (koran) because Mo constantly broke 5 of them. (Thou shall not kill. Thou shall not bear false witness. Thou shall not steal. Thou shall not covet neighbor’s wife. Thou shall not covet neighbor’s goods)…….

If you are only reading the Koran than John 1 you are not reading the correct book, the real book to read is “Reliance of the Traveller: Islamic Sacred Law, or sharia law.

“The court order directed that the land belonging to Saint Catherine’s Monastery, established between 548 and 565 by Byzantine Emperor Justinian I and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site, be placed under Egyptian state ownership, The Telegraph reported.
Gerapetritis told the media that both sides agreed “to move forward on the basis of the monastery’s established traditions and enduring value as a place of Greek Orthodox worship.”
“We agreed in the immediate future to work towards safeguarding the rights of the monastery, as well as its legal status,” Gerapetritis said after the meeting, according to Reuters.
